The interior design objective was to create a space which feels residential, while still having the functionality to be commercial. Every piece of furniture has been custom designed for The VNYL, and manufactured in Ireland.
This is not a restaurant, this is a night club!!!! Do not let the online menu fool you. Seating is couch style with coffee tables. We had a reservation for dinner and were told to "go find a seat" when we got there. There were no empty seats available. Finally they made someone else move to give us a seat (which made us feel terrible) and then told us there was a private event and asked if we wanted to stay. We decided to leave after all of the trouble. Check out the Penny Farthing, that is just across the street, they were amazing!
When we arrived at the restaurant they took us to the basement and showed us a table in a hallway by an empty bar (there were 3 tables total and 1 couple sitting there) and said this was it because the restaurant was closed last minute for a private event !!! I could not believe 1. they didn't call us to say this 2. they tried to offer us this lame table before saying the restaurant was closed for an event. Also I had tried to call 4 times to say we were running 10 minutes late, and no one answers the phone !
Of course we didn't stay but then found ourselves outside in the cold without a reservation on Friday night. I was so annoyed and looking at other reviews saw this has happened to someone else also. Do not go here, they do not treat their customers with respect and do not deserve yours.
Placed reservation for dinner. Showed up about 10 minutes early and no one was there to greet us, so had a drink across the street. Came back and they sat us, after seating, the hostess informed us that the menu options had been reduced to only 5 items, all but one were appetizers, and two were options for the same item, as they were "in the process of changing the menu". She stated "this is not really a restaurant". Maybe don't market yourself as one, and inform people that reserve a table if you are discontinuing all your menu items since your website still shows a full menu.
When I was there the place had no working kitchen and only 4 food choices. We weren’t informed beforehand and it was not worth the experience.
They got our reservation wrong and had a private function on so we couldn't get in. They said they tried to contact us but they have my email as I'd corresponded with them. Very disappointing and really not worth the bother
Items listed on the menu were not available and no one warned us in advance
I booked this restaurant for my wedding anniversary. What a disappointment. I didn’t even make it upstairs. We told the man at the door that we had a reservation at 9.30pm for dinner. He looked completely bewildered and told us VNYL did not not open until 10pm. He then kept us waiting at the door to “find someone”. We waited 10mims. No one came. Very disorganised, very poor service. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Overall great experience - food and drinks were delicious and our server was great.
Waited 1 hr to be served, waited more than 30 mins to get a check. Had to go find the sever for more than 3 times. Food is ok, the whole big 4 floor venue, only have 1 server. Honestly very horrible experience
Had a terrific time watching Game of Thrones with a lot of fans, great food, great drinks, couple of glitches with the screening but that was OK. The only negative part were a guy at the bar, and two guys in the corner, that just would not shut up. I realize that's not the fault of the establishment at all though, it's just how it goes, and I look forward to returning to VNYL soon!
TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE
Just not a nice place. Pretentious but actually not. Staff was kind but disorganised. No dining space available. A bit whatever.
The menu on Open table and the menus at the restaurant was completely different. Not at all what I expected. Took my husband there on a date night and was completely embarrassed. Never again
An employee became ill & the back up plan was poorly executed. The wait for a drink was incredibly long. Our waiter did explain & gave us a round of drinks on him due to the poor service. He was a good guy.
This is a bar seen only. The service was really slow, took us two hours to get our dinner, had to flag down our waiter multiple times, never got our desert and had to go down stairs to the bar to find our waiter to pay to leave.
The food was so good! We had a mishap with a meal and they didn't charge us for it. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful. Happy hour is 5-9 with BOGO free. There are three floors, two of which have dancefloors with DJs. Doesnt get crazy until about 10:30pm. They open at 5pm. We will be back!
Stopped in for the holiday cocktails, and had some small bites. Burgers were perfectly cooked and very tasty. The cocktails were festive and served in little milk jars! Super cute!! Would go back to try a sit down dinner.
Very disappointed. I had a confirmed reservation for 5:15 pm after seeing a play around the corner. I chose vinyl due to its location since I was taking my 94 year old mother and she has difficulty walking far. Due to Santa con the bouncer said reservations were not being accepted. We had to walk 2 long blocks in the frigid 30 degree weather to find a place to eat. My mother had a terrible time walking that distance. Never again 😡!
Our server Edward P was very rude and unprofessional, the quality of service was TERRIBLE !!!!
Food was great!
Looked better in pictures. Servers were uninformed. Service was okay.
This goes down as one of the worst selections for dinner I have ever made. It’s a bar for rowdy kids, not a restaurant. Service is horrible. My mistake!
Took my lady here for Valentine's Day and we had a blast. We'll definitely go back for another visit!
We were the only people having dinner which was weird. The food was absolutely terrible but our waitress was great. Then we went upstairs to the club/lounge and the woman behind the bar with her hair and in a bun and glasses on was so rude to us when we asked for for a drink menu that we actually left. We won’t be back. I’m sure this place is a one last much longer anyways.
Nothing at this place was good! From the moment we arrived, to the water spilling and breaking a full glass of water on me, to waiting 30 min for each round of drinks, to receiving the wrong food after 55 minutes! Service was AWFUL and slow for a night that wasn’t even busy! We’d never go back or recommend it to ANYONE!
Do not come here for food. This is a bar pretending to be a restaurant. The food that we ordered looked like it came out of the microwave directly.
Very "clubby" vibe.. however when my group arrived they were in the process of changing their menu so nothing that was posted online was available. It was only bar food (sliders, etc) and ZERO specialty cocktails. We ended up staying for one drink then had to go to another place for dinner since there was barely any food here.
Possibly the worst place I have ever been! Terrible service and it was not even busy.
I went for dinner with a friend at 7:45 PM when there were only four tables occupied in the entire restaurant. We were welcomed nicely and the order was taken promptly. We ordered the steak and burger and an extra side of fries. The steak arrived about 35 minutes later. But the burger was not served with the other entrée. My friend and I decided to share the steak and when we finished we kept waiting for the burger to arrive. The burger took another 15 minutes after we had finished the first entrée. I decided to order some drinks. The drinks were served wants the burger arrived later. I got a glass that was dirty and had lipstick stains! This was really gross. For restaurant which didn't have too much traffic at the time the lack of good service really spoil the mood. The extra order of fries were never served.
The ambience was nice and the music was lively. The food was actually quite decent for a lounge. But the service was really bad by the wait staff. They should really learn how to serve the two entrées together for a party of two. I don't think I'll be going there again.
Such a huge disappointment. Even with a reservation, we had to wait a half hour for our table at 9pm on a Wednesday. They had a private event on each floor, and they all were very loud and obnoxious. I understand this is more of a"club" now, so stop offering dinner reservations at that hour. Because of these private events, seating was limited. We got seated at a coffee table... yes, a coffee table. For dinner.
Sadly we ended up leaving before even having a server come up to us. I could not eat dinner sitting at a coffee table. Very disappointing.
I will say, though, the host was very friendly and we enjoyed talking to her while we waited for her table. Obviously this all wasn't her fault.
If looking for a party atmosphere, Sunday night is not the night to go.
VNYL has a a great provenance behind it...but you'll need to visit for the story.
Fun interesting place, good food, great drinks, excellent service, beautiful decor (an ode to seventies design). Closer to a club than a restaurant but definitely fits into the clubsteraunt oeuvre.
They do not always honor dinner reservations at the door, so not your best bet if you want to eat because the doormen are disorganized.
Nice decor and ambiance. However, overpriced with lacking service.
Went to watch game w brunch. Perhaps better for a night spot.
Loveeee this restaurant find! Enjoyed every bit for my Birthday celebration. 100% satisfied.
Host was nowhere to be found- waited 52 minutes at bar for our table. The music was the best part. Bartender nice and fast. Food was salty and I suppose okay at best. Service at the table was horrible. I would not go back.
My boyfriend and I booked this place before we went on our trip to New York. Was looking forward to spending our first valatines in NY and heard about this place so booked it. First off all the table we had was so small it's more a place to go for drinks. My boyfriend wanted the steak but didn't have the size he wanted so he ordered short rib beef. When the food came I could not believe they first of all served the short rib beef it was slopped on the plate and tasted like a bowl of salt.We could not get out of there fast enough. It ruined our valatines night as we were so looking forward to dinner. My boyfriend could not finished his food it was so bad he had to get food somewhere else. My experience was terrible, very over priced and presentation was terrible. No one cared that we weren't satisfied just said hope u have a better experience next time. As if someone goes back to a place where they were served bad food!
The food was awful
Food was only ok and half the menu was sold out on a Saturday evening.
