Had a very nice Sunday roast. Nice old pub and good service.
Food was delicious but service was poor on this occasion
This was our one and only visit and it may just be that they were understaffed in the kitchen and on table service on this particular day but the service after receiving the main meal was slow and non-attentive. We were there for nearly 3 hours for just sunday mains and a dessert and lack of awareness or apology about this.
Steak is fantastic, perfectly cooked, flavoursome and you did not need a steak knife to cut it. Cod and chips are superb too. Beer was good. Service friendly and efficient.
Even though we arrived after food service had finished, we were still offered a reduced menu by friendly, warm and welcoming staff. Good lovely. No pressure for us to leave despite us being the only ones in the pub after what had been a very busy day for them. They even offered us a cup of tea while they were putting the kettle on for themselves. Lovely place, very old, made our weekend away even more special; cannot rate the two staff who served us highly enough.
Great food a little expseive ,and along time wsiting for pudding ,but enjoyed our day and staff were very nice
We had a lovely tasty meal. All the staff were very helpful and the restaurant was well set out. We were served quickly with just enough time between course. Will definitely be returning!!!
Great night with live music, food was fab and the staff super friendly and attentive.
Great pub, good service, excellent choice of food, well cooked and presented. If you not tried it you don't know what your missing.
Good food and service, lovely sitting in the garden on a sunny day!
lovely family meal with warm & friendly staff.....
Friendly, efficient staff, good food and in a lovely village setting.
good food and good atmosphere. very helpful staff.
Outstanding food, dreadful service!
90 minute wait for food, staff shortage, no appology for delay, unable to order desert due to no one to take order. Manageress avoiding any mention of terrible service even when customers are displaying their displeasure.
Such a shame.
As three senior citizen friends meeting for lunch we wanted a quiet, comfortable environment with a wider menu than burger and chips. The Walnut Tree proved perfect. The sea bass special we had was superb and the fish and chips well cooked. Definitely a place to revisit.
We used the Walnut Tree during lockdown with delivery and was very impressed so decided to try them once we were all allowed out. Wasn’t disappointed, very nice and great food just like the delivery, very friendly and pleasant staff. will definitely visit again.
We went for Sunday lunch, lovely country pub, friendly staff and proper hone cooked food. We will return
Excellent all round - food was very tasty - well worth a trip - not much parking but worth the hassle
Some of the food items wasn’t great but in the whole the food was good, nice service but think they need more staff.
Very good choice of food. Will visit again. Yes I would recommend it
Fantastic dinner at The Walnut Tree.
Very generous portions, and great value. We went earlier in the evening (around 6:30pm) before it got busier so service was great and very fast.
We were the first people in and it took over 2 hours to have 2 courses (3 adults one child). Half the menu was unavailable. The staff didn’t know how the tills worked or what was available on the menu. The drinks order was brought over and it wasn’t what we ordered. The manager was arrogant and just shrugged off our complaint about poor and slow service. Will not be visiting again!
Lovely food and drink, lovely pub- thank you! We’ll be back.
A limited choice on the menu, but on line they showed more choice
We decided to have the plough man share board, which was excellent very generous ,.would certainly visit again .this being our first visit to eating out since the pandemic felt I little anxious but felt quite safe once we sat down
Amazing Sunday dinner will definitely visit again thank you
Fantastic Sunday roast best around!
Really nice friendly pub will be returning
Fantastic service and the menu was excellent - a good combination of traditional pub fare and more unusual but very well thought out dishes. The crab with watermelon small plate was incredibly clever and exceptionally tasty. Burgers were excellent and nicely presented. Selection of gins and wine was very good too. First dining experience here and we will definitely be back!
The pub itself is very nice inside and out. Not too cramped dining area and welcomed by friendly staff who constantly checked up on us.
Food was very good if a little over priced.
Small menu but the food is first class as was the service. Nice atmosphere and location will be back soon.
Great food, lovely staff, the Pork was melt in the mouth. 👍
We booked a table inside, but as the weather was so nice we sat in the garden. The staff were friendly and well informed. The food was enjoyed by the whole party of six, and it represents good value for money. Thoroughly recommend.
Staff very friendly but disappointed with quality of food we had a roast in the evening and would not recommend as roasts were hard and they had run out of carrots
Father’s Day treat. My husbands lamb was chewy and fatty. Outsides of roast potatoes were very hard to cut and tasted like they had been re-heated a few times. Veg portions were meagre for the price.
Staff kept knocking into our daughters back every time they went past. At one point a plate caught the back of her head. £75 for two meat and two nut roasts and four soft drinks. We wouldn’t go back there again.
The pub is lovely and the food was amazing, but the music choice for Sunday lunch of loud rock was not great. But it was turned down on request.
Would definitely go back again
Excellent service. Food was fine although the burgers were too chargrilled making them bitter and roast lamb was overdone a touch...a bit too expensive for what was offered really. Beer was good although only 2 real ales available.
Food was extremely good. Both mine and my friends meals were all of the same quality. We weren't going to have pudding but after the main I was persuaded as it was so good! Portion sizes were average but I think the quality and taste were well above average. Happy to pay a little extra here and there for something nice. I felt Pudding was a little steep at £6.50 but again it was delicious!!! Will definitely be going back!!!
Lovely food, carefully thought through and executed. Go here. It’s worth it.
We booked via this app and took a chance after a day trip, was a lovely meal Sunday dinner great service throughout and very reasonable prices, we shall defo be visiting again soon.
Great pub, serving staff were very attentive and helped my wife with menu choices (celiac). Very unfortunate as the head chef was sick and agency had to step in. We had to wait
Lovely food polite staff would be nice if they had a wider range of non alcoholic beverages, these so many gins and botanical drinks out there it would be good to include in range x
