Unfortunately it was a catalogue of errors at this restaurant - we arrived and they hadn't reserved enough seats for our group, so as a result we had to wait for them to reseat people in order for us to fit at the table.
From the menu, they had run out of all but one option - and that one and only meal available was a salad. This is unacceptable. We came out for dinner with friends ahead of Christmas and we ended up with only the option of ordering sandwiches.
As there was a limited number of staff (who often stood nearby texting on their phones or chatting instead of taking orders or bringing cutlery, sauces, food...) we had to wait a long time for our order to be taken, a long time for the food to arrive, and we had no other table service other than this - nothing.
One person in our group received their food after everyone else had finished, despite us ordering sandwiches and having chased the staff numerous times. When it arrived the order was incorrect and missing key ingredients as listed for the item on the menu. As a result we were told the sandwich would be removed from the bill, only we found that it hadn't been and we had to make a further complaint in order to have it removed.
Despite the above, when our bill arrived we found that a service charge had been added to our bill. I complained and said that we would not pay this in full considering the experience, but there was no apology. Instead the waiter laughed and said he completely understood why we wouldn't want to pay it. Completely inappropriate.
As we left we discovered that the least helpful and rudest waitress was in fact the "manager". She approached us to say we could have a free bottle of prosecco next time we visited. I won't be going back, but even if we did, they'll never fulfil this offer on a say so. It was pathetic. Too little, too late.
I'll be sending a complaint to the brewery that own this pub too. Shocking. What an embarrassment.
Where do I start! I booked a table online for Christmas lunch for six people. Receive a phone call to ask if we can come an hour earlier than the original booking. Not a problem. Arrive at the Warwick at the revised time to find a sign on the door that says ‘closed for public, private party’ indeed there was a large Christmas party happening. Phoned inside and was told to go in a side entrance. Not a warm welcome as people in the party upstairs was wondering why 6 ‘outsiders’ was interrupting their party! We were directed downstairs and three members of staff that couldn’t of looked more unmotivated directed us to our table. Having sat down assuming someone would welcome us properly and offer us drinks. Nothing. Having grabbed the attention of a member of staff we were told ‘you have to order at bar’. Fair enough if that is policy. Ordered drinks and asked for menus, “kitchen’s closed” was the response! The manager came over and could not have been colder or unapologetic “we told the central team not to accept bookings”. Unacceptable when you book a table for Christmas lunch, get called to ask if you can an hour earlier to be told no food. I can honestly say I have never experienced such a horrible welcome and a manager who wasn’t even apologetic having completely ruined our Christmas lunch. Can safely say will never visit again and I expect the story of this year’s lunch will be recounted many times over.
They ran out of roasts at 4 pm so we had to leave. Very unimpressed given we had booked in advance.
Team lunch event. Food was fabulous- lots of choices catered for all of the group. Service was a bit slow though despite the pub not being busy. Never did get that second pint...
I’d definitely recommend the Warwick for food as well as drinks, but if you’re in a rush - order at the bar!
Took 17 minutes to talk to a bartender. There were 4 making 3 drinks and it took them that long. They didn’t know what open table was and had never heard of a 50% discount.
Having booked a table for dinner, we arrived and had to search for our own table. On sitting we noticed a foul smell in the area ( drains?) with no one available to ask to be seated else where we chose to leave and chance finding food in another establishment. Overall service was poor, members of staff saw us arrive, nobody came to assist us in finding the pre booked table and we were not offered drinks/menus on arrival. With all the fab eateries in and around Soho I wont be hurrying back.
Bad experience, even if I’ve shown them the reservation, confirmed also by mail, they’ve told me that they didn’t have it, saying that they give availability on Sunday without any kind of control. I will never come back. Personal very unpleasant.
WE arrived and they did not have our booking, ended up being squashed onto a booth not big enough for 10 people. Did not have items on the menu and only told us after we ordered. At 6pm the music was so loud we could not hear ourselves or the barmen. If we had not had a show to attend we would have found somewhere else to eat. Very disappointing.
Food was nice but service was slow and they insisted we pay the bill (including service charge!) before our food even arrived because the bill was just over £100 which was odd.
OK. This is a great pub, excellent selection of drinks and close to Piccadilly Circus. Sadly, our booking hadn't been recognised. The staff were fabulous and did find us a table. Very loud music and for a friends get together, couldn't hear each other so left and ate elsewhere.
On arrival there was no record of our booking. After showing the email at the bar we were then sat downstairs in a dark room with a strange smell and kind of left to it. The food was pleasant, but we felt out of the way and not really part of the scene. Also, there was a lengthy mistake with the bill, as we ended up having to queue for drinks at the bar but they were then added onto the bill even though we had paid cash for those. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. I appreciate Saturday teatimes are busy, but don't take bookings if you can't fulfil them and make people feel welcome.
Food was over cooked and less than standard for pub grub. Never eat here again!
The Warwick was promoting its Sunday roasts online, it turned out they had decided to launch this new portion of the menu on Easter Sunday when we dined. The kitchen struggled with 3 orders - all the potatoes and root veg were under cooked, the mushroom was still part frozen, we had to send a dish back and there were no sauces available to enjoy with the meats. The flyer said there would be live music, there was not - all in all a very disappointing for a highly promoted event. The serving staff were helpful, but it couldn't make up for the problems here.
Terrible table service and rudeness from waitress. Not worth the prices they charge.
Very noisy and busy, my booking hadn't got through but we were found a table downstairs after about a 15 minute wait. One item we wanted wasn't available, but the food was reasonably good. Staff were friendly, but I doubt we will return - it was a bit on the noisy side for us.
Unfortunately, my boss was unimpressed with this place and stated that the food was average pub food and could do a lot better around this area
A friendly welcome from staff at this newly refurbished restaurant and a choice of table was a good start. There is draught beer, a good range of wines and cocktails, and the menu is good. There is a range of Indonesian and Thai dishes, and some British food, but it is not an overlong menu. This meant the food was freshly cooked and the flavours were very good. We have already booked to go back with friends. Good service and good value for money.
I was not aware when I booked out table that this a bar first, and only secondarily a restaurant, and that the establishment's license would not allow children past 7pm. We arrived early for our 6pm reservation, and were asked to wait. No one informed us for the next 45 minutes that we could not remain past 7pm, even though it was obvious when we arrived that out party included children. By the time we were informed of the restriction, it was already too late to have a meal there. We were told that a sister establishment would be able to accommodate our party, but frankly at that point we were too angry to want to patronize the same company. We were fortunate enough to find another table at a different restaurant in the same neighborhood.
I have taken one of my clients here for an annual lunch every year for the past 3 years. The food is always great, the service attentive and the price is outstanding. Highly recommended.
and our waitress was fantastic. great food and perfect for a quick bite
Booked as a place to gather family members for an early evening meal, the Warwick did not disappoint. Service could have been quicker but, given the number of active tables, we had no problems and were not in a rush to get in and get out. Our waitress was very attentive, accommodating the majority requirement for basic liquid refreshment promptly; happy hour made the balance very affordable. The only negative was presented by way of a seemingly universal desire for noise, with music being played at levels that made conversation more difficult than would have been preferred (there is no specific, segregated dining area). Overall, I would recommend the Warwick as a very good place to gather for after-work drinks and good pub grub.
Not coming from London, was not sure what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised. The food was great as were the staff and we could not believe how cheap it was. Amazing value for money for fantastic food. Will be coming every time we're in London. Thankyou the Warwick. P.s the glassblower needs to see how it's done properly, it's very very poor in comparison.
We came in for a drink and a snack. It was delightful. Perfect sizes and good drinks.
The Warwick is a great place to go in a group (get a booth) we had a wicked time watcvhing the rugby on Friday night! Great atmosphere!
The Warwick is a nice venue to chill out after work, or take the edge off after a gruelling shopping trip. The atmosphere is nice especially as it is located on the outskirts of Soho. Thursday night is Karaoke night and a lot of fun with plenty of encouragement from fellow drinkers!
