The Waterfront Bar Restaurant
John and Steve bring their successful formula of great food, drink and service to the Waterfront to create a venue with a vibrant atmosphere in a stunning setting in the bustling city of Plymouth.
Had a wonderful evening. The only problem was the wait for the food. Because they had a couple of large parties in, we had to wait nearly an hour and half for our courses to arrive. The staff where very accommodating though and gave us a round of drinks and deserts on the house.
The food was excellent and the staff fantastic.
Lovely place to sit and enjoy the stunning views whilst having a drink or bite to eat
Great service, polite and friendly. Food was not so great.
Very pleasant position overlooking the sea. Food good and staff very helpful. Also parking (limited) in a prime position on the Hoe.
Nice bar and restaurant was quiet as visited on a random Monday in June. Booked a table but mostly empty. Table service in the evening which is better than queuing at the bar to order. Food good price good and service friendly and efficient. Recommended. Nice views from the room and nice if the weather is kind to sit outside.
The service was very efficient and the food was excellent quality. The staff were very friendly and the venue was lovely.
We enjoyed our first visit to the Waterfront and will definitely be returning in the future. Food and service good, cleanliness and atmosphere also good.
Really good Father’s Day lunch with great service and good choice of food : we all thoroughly enjoyed it
Welcomed & taken to table promptly. Clean and enough space for seats.
Good menu variation. Carvery a it expensive. Very tasty meals. Colouring for kids ideal.
Lovely atmosphere, fantastic food, would definitely come here again.
Busy friday night but service was quick , efficient and friendly. Food was pleasant and value for money. Lovely outdoor area perfect for summer drinks. Definitely worth a try.
Our friends and ourselves were very happy with our overall experience. The food was well cooked and presented very well it was all tasty and delicious. Service was excellent very attentive each one seemed to be enjoying their job. Only downside there was a large group celebrating a child’s birthday which were extremely noisy, making it very difficult to have a conversation and definitely not a romantic venue.
The venue is spectacular, even on a cloudy day, we were greeted by a lovely member of staff and even though they were busy they took us to our table immediately. The food was excellent and we all had different choices, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their menu choice and the price point was excellent, infact, we would have probably paid more!,not so the drinks...outrageously over priced!!
great pub in a great location. Service was good and food was well prepared, good value and served without delay. Altogether a pleasant evening. Thanks
Sunday roast a must tried the beef and pork both lovely especially with red wine no27 merlot on the list. Great afternoon
The service was a bit slow - we had to ask to place our order and twice for the bill at the end as they were very busy. The price is slightly high however the food was really tasty and good portions. The staff were very friendly and apologised for us having to ask. Would definitely go back. Would be a good plan to book in advance
Food was lovely but we waited over an hour and it wasn't that busy. Building a bit run down toilets not pleasant. Would go again on a nice day for drinks outside. Probably wouldn't return for a meal.
Nice venue which is starting to show the effects of long term water damage. It has been battered by storms. Food was lovely and the service polite and attentive but not overbearing. I recommend the steak!
A very generous and tasty ploughmans sharing platter with more than emoungh for 2.
We visited The Waterfront for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day. As such - it was very busy so the service was rather slow, but this was to be expected on such a busy day. The food was all lovely and the service, although slow, was great with friendly waitresses. The main bar area was very noisy as it was busy but we were in one of the side areas which was not as noisy so it didn't spoil our meal. All in all I would visit again and recommend it to friends.
We booked a table for 4 on Mothering Sunday. What should have been a special day for myself and my mum turned out to be nothing short of a complete and utter debacle! Firstly my son went to the bar to order wine to be told they had run out of the Sauvignon Blanc (this happens). My dad decided on a Leffe.... no Leffe or their equivalent to Guinness!!! We decided on a bottle of Rose..... no Rose other than the House. We ordered our starters. After 45 mins 3 starters arrived but my dads was nowhere to be seen. It eventually arrived after we had finished our very poor starters. The main courses were overcooked/tough/cold. My sons pie was burnt on the outside and cold in the middle!!!! By now we were all feeling a little bit fractious and very dissapointed. The ‘manager’ eventually came to our table and after making us feel we were at fault offered not to charge for the food (as we hadn’t eaten it) but we would have to pay for our drinks... which we duly did. No form of apology for completely ruining what should have been a special day.
Visited on mother’s day and we received really good service and the food was really nice and hot. Highly recommend.
This place was lovely when we came a few months ago but on Mothering Sunday it was terrible. We have to wait nearly an hour for food and that was at a table at midday with young children.
Half of our meals were of poor quality and nowhere near the high standard that had made us return. Unlikely we shall be going back anytime soon. Overpriced for this poor meals as well. Bar staff also charge 2 different prices for the same drink during our meal.
We enjoyed our meals, the staff were friendly and helpful ,. We booked in advance and had a window table the view is lovely and the atmosphere was comfortable.
We would go there again
It was on a busy sunday afternoon ,had to wait 50m for our food to arrive and the plates thrown on the table by the waitress who was obviously having a bad day!
We didn't order desert as didnt want to wait for another 50 min !
It took an hour for food to arrive to table after ordering. Roast beef Sunday lunch had a Yorkshire pudding missing, Roast pork Sunday lunch had crackling missing. All meals were warm, not hot.
It was really busy and we were warned the food would take a while but it was all good. As we sat inside it was quiet and very pleasant and we had table service while those outside had to queue to place orders.
Although a wedding party was on the service was fab, the food was outstanding.
Really yummy food. Had fish and chips was ny greasy at all was huge meal and very hot which is good. There are dogs allowed in but I love dogs so doesn't bother me
We had a lovely meal in lovely surroundings the service was very good
First time here and very impressed nice setting by the water. We had the roast lunch on a Sunday and it was so good would definitely recommend to other people its just a pity its 60 miles from home Helpings were generous and not too pricey. Thanks Waterfront
Went for Sunday lunch which was very good although a little on the pricey side
The waitress was amazing soooo charming and made our lunch very memorable .... food was lovely. Portion sizes were a little small xx
Had an amazing brunch next to the sea with my nan. We would definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
We had a very enjoyable meal and the food was excellent
Overall good but not speed up food service. 35 minutes too log gives it to pub grub.
I visited The Waterfront with my adult son and my partner. We placed our order for our food and had to prompt the waiters when a larger table who arrived quite a time after us were served their food before us. you could tell that it had obviously been sitting on the hotplate for a while. My mushroom burger was tasteless and the juices from the vegetables inside and made it sloppy. The fishpie needed seasoning and was bland and tasteless. They did enquire when I did not eat the burger and offered a free dessert. The value being approx. £7 when I was still expected to pay the £12-£13 for the Mushroom burger.
Been a few times and will continue to come back. Fabulous food. Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely ambiance and décor throughout. Just an absolute gem of a place to dine in Plymouth. Fantastic view too!!
Took my 79 year old mother here for a late lunch. The service was exceptional and the food was very good standard fare. Portion sizes were generous. The location is great with lovely sea views across Plymouth sound. The restaurant has plenty of space and lots of different dining configurations for both romantic or larger groups. We will come again and this time it will be a planned visit rather than a pot-luck, find somewhere at the last minute as it was this time.
