The Waterfront Bar Restaurant
John and Steve bring their successful formula of great food, drink and service to the Waterfront to create a venue with a vibrant atmosphere in a stunning setting in the bustling city of Plymouth.
The waitress was amazing soooo charming and made our lunch very memorable .... food was lovely. Portion sizes were a little small xx
Had an amazing brunch next to the sea with my nan. We would definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
We had a very enjoyable meal and the food was excellent
Overall good but not speed up food service. 35 minutes too log gives it to pub grub.
I visited The Waterfront with my adult son and my partner. We placed our order for our food and had to prompt the waiters when a larger table who arrived quite a time after us were served their food before us. you could tell that it had obviously been sitting on the hotplate for a while. My mushroom burger was tasteless and the juices from the vegetables inside and made it sloppy. The fishpie needed seasoning and was bland and tasteless. They did enquire when I did not eat the burger and offered a free dessert. The value being approx. £7 when I was still expected to pay the £12-£13 for the Mushroom burger.
Been a few times and will continue to come back. Fabulous food. Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely ambiance and décor throughout. Just an absolute gem of a place to dine in Plymouth. Fantastic view too!!
Took my 79 year old mother here for a late lunch. The service was exceptional and the food was very good standard fare. Portion sizes were generous. The location is great with lovely sea views across Plymouth sound. The restaurant has plenty of space and lots of different dining configurations for both romantic or larger groups. We will come again and this time it will be a planned visit rather than a pot-luck, find somewhere at the last minute as it was this time.
We had a great Sunday lunch with friends . Service was really good friendly polite always smiling . And all ways their to make sure you were ok . The food was well cooked . And it was nice to go were it was hot . And plenty on your plate . It's nice to sit and look at the veiew would recommend this place to any one .
Really nice views from the table, service was good, and portions good.
Great views really good food, service a little slow on our visit but we were on holuday so it wasn't a problem and very reasonable. Service with a smile.
Very disappointed with Sunday lunch it was just like a heap of food thrown in the middle of a plate. Two rashers of beef and four roast potatoes and gravy oh and two parsnips. If I invited someone to lunch I would be ashamed to place that in front of them. The vegetables leaved a lot to be desired. Sorry waterfront but won't be coming for Sunday lunch again.
Great setting, friendly staff, good wine list, sadly the food wasn’t great and the menu was limited. We’d come back but probably just stick to the burger.
We had a lovely breakfast. I was delighted to have porridge and it was amazing
Food was really nice, we went for our aniversary and my partner didn’t finish all of her food due to feeling ill NOT FROM THE RESTAURANT i feel that the waitress might have thought it was the food but I can assure it wasn’t. The waitress was lovely and kept seeing to our table to see if we needed any drinks are anything else to go with the food at all. Overall a really nice pub to go to just a shame it was ruined by something out the pubs hands only wish it wasn’t to have something bad to say about the pub haha will be back again soon :)
It was a Monday night so very quiet. The service was friendly and reasonably attentive. I chose polenta with figs and wild mushrooms, because I had really enjoyed it previously. However, this time it was very different, less food too much blackberry and not as well cooked. Guess it depends on the chef.
Had a roast here on rememberance Sunday staff were friendly service was excellent food was top notch and the views are stunning pub was busy due to rememberance day but food still served quickly hot and tasty all in all excellent will be returning again
Lovely place to eat, the food was amazing and great location.
Me and my friend had been visiting coasts of Cornwall and we stopped off at Plymouth on the way home and this was the best resturant we had visited on our entire trip! Really good food and drink too.
Lovely meal for my graduation celebrations. Excellent service and high quality food.
Very disappointing meal. Food lacked any substance, sausage casserole had no sausage in it. All our tables food was cold
Burgers were under cooked and the bread was stale and the cheaps were moldey
Weather was really good , which made the ambience of the the venue very , very good. Indoor decor was extremely good, let down by a badly rusted radiator in the men’s toilet. (Coat of paint, new radiator?). Food took a time to arrive, unfortunately it all looked good but it was cold. Waitress was very apologetic when told, and provided a free round of drinks for us. Table serving staff very good. Hopefully cold food was a one off!!!! Would still return.
Outstanding food especially the desserts, even better with a lovely view
Lovely food (just very filling!), friendly and attentive service, with a beautiful view in the evening - will be returning :)
Food was ok and not too pricey, but it’s very noisy inside hustle and bustle ! Fantastic outside location on the sea front
Wider and more varied restaurant would be so much better.
Went after a Graduation ceremony, had been before thats why we went back. The food was good but this time the service was Outstanding. Sorry can not remember His name, he had braces on and a beard . he could not have done any more , the service he gave us was 1st class.
Had a quick lunch after a graduation ceremony. Fish and chips great. Service ok but staff very chatty with each other in hearing distance of customers when they were moaning about other customers which is unprofessional.
Food was very disappointing but staff were friendly. The waitress said they had issues in the kitchen. My moules were so salty as to be nearly inedible. Zero garnish with the beef burgers etc. Only went because it was handy for the B&B. Wouldn’t go back.
Friendly staff, good food, could always do with more staff at the bar as generally slow. Did get our food order wrong but very apologetic & offered to change but we didn’t want to wait so they didn’t charge us for the one wrongs meal which was very good of them. Great location definitely recommend 👍
Lovely food and good service, the chilli prawns and Chips were fantastic as were my friends food, delivered promptly very tasty and good value, easy booking on line
We booked the Waterfront as a location to have a meal and to watch the fireworks and couldn't have asked for any better. We had a wonderful table which meant we could see the firework display from inside (a plus as the weather wasn't as warm as it has been!). All the staff were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere. There was a special 3 course menu with several choices of starter, main and pudding - all the food was tasty.
We really enjoyed our evening - so much so that we booked for next year! I would certainly recommend giving the Waterfront a try .
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary which fell on the first night of the British Fireworks Championships. There was a set menu of 3 courses for £27.50, four choices on each course. The waitress advised us on arrival that the table was ours for the night, a pleasant surprise. She was attentive without making us feel watched or rushed. The food was good and value for money (4 star rating as I had fancied a steak but due to there being a set menu, it wasn't available). The waterfront is a great setting and although it was busy, we didn't feel crowded nor forgotten. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and one I would definitely repeat, especially to see the fireworks!
Lovely fresh food - excellent service - fabulous location.
The navy ship passing by was a definite plus. Whole experience was lovely- thankyou 😎
Food very good, service poor on the last 2 occasions. If it is very busy outside, the service in the restaurant is poor. Not enough waitresses to cover both the restaurant and the outside tables. No fault of the waitresses who are always very polite and helpful.
Really nice location and easy, hassle free, service. Food was excellent.
I booked a table for 10 friends to meet up for a school reunion. We were travelling from all across UK to attend. Easy parking and table with a lovely view across Plymouth sound. Waitress was pleasant and attentive. We all enjoyed our meals and felt under no pressure to move from our table. Thank you a wonderful place set in a stunning location. Definitely will come back.
Booked for birthday meal, great table with sea view, service excellent (fast & friendly), food superb and great pint - Mena dhu stout. This was our first visit to the Waterfront but as regular visitors to Plymouth we will return.
The location of this restaurant overlooks one of the country's finest natural harbours Plymouth Sound. The staff were welcoming and the service was very good as was the food and wine. It was all together a very pleasant evening and certainly recommend.
Food good. Waited a long time for our order to be taken - eventually went to the bar to order. lacks atmosphere. Lovely setting.
