Megan was our server and was exceptional. The food was as wonderful as ever too.
We had been there before but not of an evening. It was lovely and as we went early there were very few people there. Good assortment of fish
First time visiting the Waterfront since it has opened. We were all absolutely delighted with the design and style of the restaurant. The food was amazing and cooked superbly. The ambience was great as well with the music and surprise of a live singer. The only tiny bit of criticism would be that the speakers may have been a bit too loud that we weren’t able to hear each other at the table. Only a very minor criticism but overall it was a very pleasant experience and I look forward to coming back again soon.
The service and the quality of food was of a high standard.
The layout of the venue was very good,
I would happily recommend this to anyone
Cosmopolitan cocktails reasonable although tad on expensive side, plenty of staff and very good service, fish and chips good, seafood sharing platter looked fantastic but mainly consisted of nice shell on prawns and tasteless muscles just 4 oysters and a small dressed crab to break up the monotony and some salty mackerel mousse, the half pint of prawns would be better, somewhat disappointed with the menu which doesn’t seem to have changed when the name did, all in all a reasonable evening though expensive would go back some time in the summer
Absolutely great restaurant, delicious food and fantastic service!
Over priced. Tiny portions.
Waiters asking if everything is ok and not even caring what the answer is or making a resolution.
I will not be returning and would not recommend
Great food but we were kept waiting for hours for our food and the music was so loud you couldn’t hear each other across the table.
This was the first time dined here since change of ownership from Hythe Bay, my husband mentioned very loud atmosphere and bright sunlight from windows with no blinds. My mother cannot access the stairs so had to come round the back with many steps and high footings which was not good. We had to wait over 30 minutes for main course as we had no starters, not offered any bread or nibbles? The cost was too high for the meal we had, only my husbands meal of Chicken Supreme was adequate. Doubt if we will be coming back, shame as we frequented Hythe Bay a lot and enjoyed it.
I have eaten several times before service was slow for seaweed course had to remind waitress several times before it arrived we were the verge of leaving when it arrived 1st and second choice not available 3rd choice not worth the wait
Great staff throughoutvthe restaurant - friendly and attentive. The food was good as were the G&Ts and the wine. Really enjoyed the evening
Having had a nice experience a few months ago my wife and I returned for lunch after a 60 mile drive from Bromley. What a disappointment
I had asked for a window table 3 days in advance but this was not be the case. There is a good wine list but sods law, the Sauvignon Blanc that I chose was not in stock.
The starters were fine but if you are a lover of fish-pie this is not the place to go. It was very bland and lacked fish thought the potato was very good. It required some smoked fish to give it some taste.
My serving of vegetables didn’t arrive at all so I shared my wife’s. We were given a complimentary coffee as compensation but we had returned there for a nice lunch. I could have got a coffee in Bromley.
Will we return? Probably not.
Very disappointed with the mussels and fish pie sadly. Mussels were over cooked and fish pie was dry and just full of potatoes! Maybe Tuesday evening isn’t the best night to go? Such a shame as we love the waterfront.
Very friendly staff
Very nice experience
Fish and chips looked generous. Linguine portion very small for the money and not worth it
Excellent from beginning to finish when emailing David with enquiries - spot on top service from all staff from moment walked through the restaurant - very friendly team - was really impressed with the whole experience especially the delicious food, wine, ambience and spotlessly clean - then the view of the beach - absolutely fantastic - highly recommend.
Excellent food, service, everything! Go here often and would highly recommend to anyone. A true gem to Hythe!
Warm welcome at the end of a busy lunchtime. Fabulous day in Hythe with bright winter sun made the Waterfront the ideal venue for a late lunch. We were seated swiftly at a very nice table by David the efficient and exuberant maitre ‘d’. The view over the Channel was great and the ambiance of the Waterfront greatly enhanced by the smooth and rich singing of Victoria, who is there each Sunday.
The menu is quite extensive, some would say too extensive, and in my view more focus on good quality fish would greatly improve the offering. However, the prices are very well pitched and represent good value for money.
My only quibble really is that I feel at a place like the Waterfront one should expect to get the very freshest of fish with a focus on that rather than the mounds of chips or other accompaniments. Sadly that is not the case and resulted in us feeling rather let down.
Maybe this was just one of those days because everything else about the Waterfront was very good indeed. Attentive and well trained staff, great loos, lovely outdoor seating.
I look forward to returning later in the year
Great seafront location, incredible views outside on the upper terrace - very accommodating for families with dogs, great atmosphere, busy, vibrant and where able to move our table from inside to outside.
The food was really good (all 3 courses!), we mainly had seafood/fish which was all delicious!
Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend to others...
Very disappointed with the main course and dessert. My partner asked for medium steak and came out well done, I had the lamb shank which should melt off the bone, it certainly did not it was hard and tough, left most of it on the bone as would have needed an industrial chainsaw to get the meat off the bone. It was dry and the lack of jus didn’t help. As for the lemon meringue pie it was like rubber.
Overall poor quality food which lacked flare and overinflated prices for what was a moderate meal, real shame as the ambience and decor was lovely, service was good although one of the waiters could have done with using deodorant
We were unhappy with the quality of (some of) the food. Some was undercooked and some was burnt. The crayfish cocktail was described as "prawn cocktail" by the waiter and it was short on fish and far too much salad.
The moules were absolutely superb.
Overall, it was not poor enough to complain but much worse than previous visits before the rebranding.
Our impression was that food quality had gone down and prices gone up.
Somewhat disappointing and below expectations.

Came here yesterday for a meal with family. It was busy as expected for a bank holiday. Food was lovely however my whole meal was cold but thankfully cooked. The dauphinois potato’s felt like they wasn’t heated up at all. However it still was disappointing. Everyone’s else’s meals were pretty hot. However I would of let staff know but no one came to table check our table. I did mention it when they got cleared but the lady didn’t seem to fazed.
Pudding was lovely. We had sticky toffee pudding and it was massive however a tiny, tiny scoop of ice cream to go with it.
Was lovely despite the minor issues. Hopefully will be better if we return again
The restaurant has been well updated in the last few years and the menu is better balanced. The tables were clean and neatly presented and the service was pleasant and helpful. We both thought that the starters and main courses were very good made from fresh produce and well cooked. One dessert was not available but generally we felt that this course was not up to scratch. If I have people over for a meal I usually provide some choice with dessert and try to balance it with the main course. All the items available were run of the mill items bought from the wholesalers!
Lovely anniversary dinner & first time going to The Waterfront Restaurant & Bar. Really pleased with atmosphere, friendliness of staff, quirky place, food was very good. We look forward to going back again some day.
Wow what a treat we had on New Years Day. Amazing restaurant- fantastic atmosphere. Great food and absolutely fantastic service from a super lovely team. Meant a lot as it was our belated Xmas lunch due to covid! Thank you to all the team.
Great seafront views, good food (from a varied menu) and good, classy service. The restaurant had a real buzz inside and out with some creative seasonal decorations. We'll be going back next time we're in Hythe.
Extremely long wait for our food over 1 1/2 hrs for food
Was not expecting it to be this good
Great food, great service
Will be going back soon
Building is akin to Fisherman’s hut, or boat house, internal bling decor is not in keeping, modern but not in keeping,
Service was excellent
Simply the best!!
Setting, ambience, amazing fresh foods, staff courteous and friendly.
A cut above.
First time being here, we loved it perfect for our date night , the food was amazing staff were fab, atmosphere was lovely too, bit disapointed that there was several things unavailble which is why i choose to come here and how amazing it was, having said that i cant wait to come back.
Lovely food and atmosphere even in current circumstances - thoroughly recommended
Lovely evening, couldn’t fault anything. Have booked for New Year’s Eve as so impressed
Lovely restaurant full of atmosphere and great decor. Sweet packages for the kids went down very well! Thank you a lovely meal
After trying its predecessor on and off for years (Hythe Bay) and it not being good we were a tad reluctant and slow to try...
However, that was an error as it was a great night out.
The decorations for Xmas were stunning and the staff were welcoming and very professional.
The food was delicious and the mar Crackers were great! Wooden decorations inside rather than plastic
Would recommend and we will definitely be going back.
Another enjoyable visit. Festive atmosphere and seasonal touches made our experience. Enjoyed the singer’s repertoire. Slightly loud for my elderly relative to follow our tables conversation. Staff attentive as always.
Lovely meal with our friends at The Waterfront and we loved the singer too
Lovely food ,nice Christmas feeling , service is great and friendly .
Very good meal no complaints about any thing much improved from last time.
Great restaurant, so much better with the new owners
