The Watermead Inn
Wow! Valentines day for me went extremely well with no disappointments.. I take my hat off to the wonderful staff and the delicious meal that we had.... The evening most certainly got me in her good books.. The waitress that served us recommended the house white wine which was very good and in all respect was better than most that we've sampled in other places.
Noisey but was Xmas eve
But food served did not relate to discription on menu
Menue said salmon with teriyaki sauce new potatoes and green beans
We asked for 2 salmons with out sauce
What came was
Salmon on bed of cooked tomatoes
New potatoes with butter and herbs mixed in with the runner bean and something else
My wife has severe intolerance to butter herbs and tomatoes so she was unable to eat most of her meal
Also both salmon eaters said Salmon v salty
As it was a family outing she did not want to make a fuss so did not complain
No one asked about allergies.
A large group of us came for my birthday, and were all extremely pleased with the food. A good range, and all delicious!
Staff were very helpful and dealt with all our requests with a smile
Booked a table here because the Best Western down the road doesn't do food Friday, Saturday or Sunday, but you get 10% discount here if you show your room card.
Nice place, but surprisingly empty. My sausages were burnt so hard on one side so badly the fork wouldn't penetrate, whereas the mashed potato ran through the fork.
Arrived at the restaurant for a birthday meal only to find the place was completely booked out for a wedding reception. Very embarrassing and I’m not sure why the booking was accepted.
Good value, great taste and portions were huge 😁
1st visit and we will go back, perhaps for breakfast?
I booked a table online for last Sunday at 1.30pm. Upon arrival the restaurant was very crowded with clearly a private function under way. We were led to a table.....after 10 minutes we asked a member of staff to estimate how long the food would take to arrive.....and told because of crowding and limited staff....would be about 45 minutes.
This we found unacceptable and told staff that we would leave.
I’m left with the question.....why was my online booking accepted?
The menu looked amazing - it was refreshing to see different meals on offer and not the usual meals you can get anywhere. The food was delicious, good sized portions & stayed hot. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and nothing seemed too much for them. Lovely atmosphere & will definitely be recommending it to other people
Lovely food and pleasant sraff
Nice food and good size portions for your money we will be going back again
Food was very tasty but was disappointed they had taken the quesedillas and fajitas off the menu as they were delicious!! Very good value for money portions were very big!!
I would recommend for drinks and a nice view across the lake but I do not recommend the food, we had a roast and it tasted like it came out of the microwave. But the staff are lovely and it’s a nice place to go for a catch-up over a couple drinks!
Did not get the seating we wanted, also it did not even matter we reserved a table. Did not ask our name or anything.
The Watermead provides a typical chain pub menu, similar to Wetherspoons or Greene King BUT the quality is better and the price is higher. Stir fried vegetables which accompany dishes are very good. Portions are generous. Chips are not triple cooked and are average. There are no specials and a number of items were not available. Service was good despite a large party being there. It's unusual and annoying in that it won't sell real ale. It does have good craft beers but at inflated prices. Wine was good for a chain pub. Really depends what you want.
The Sunday roast was very good, only thing I would change is to roast the parsnip.
Nice place for lunch with friends. Shortage of staff to meet and greet waited a while for someone to serve us. Service at the table was good but had to wait for last meal to be served.
Everything was lovely except the children's entertainer, he was very loud and we were sitting at the other end of room. The staff kept apologising, it was not their fault.
I go here often and when I get visitors, it's a default place to take them for a dinner out. The food is great, service is alwasy exemplary and the view over the lake is idyllic.
Staff are fantastic, very hospitable.
Didnt have to wait very long for food, all very accommodating to a large group.
The food was good but on the expensive side for what it was. The starters were expensive and more like small meals and all a bit stodgy so we didn't order these. The menu wasn't very clean, the wall we sat next to was marked and had food stuck to it, it all seemed a bit grubby. The gents toilet was flooded. The waitress was very polite and helpful but seemed new and so not very confident. We weren't offered desserts or coffee so left after our meal. The place was busy so the atmosphere and ambience was good.
Lovely views. Good service and a lovely dining experience.
Nice location and decorated well. Can be quite loud in this restaurant due to the TV and bar area being next to the restaurant. The food is good, not amazing but also nowhere near awful. It's good for a pizza, and they're massive! Portion sizes are pretty decent in general.
First class service and food . Unlike other restaurants the watermead staff are polite and helpful . Was served by 2 different waitresses who were polite and friendly
Booked table for 8pm 4people, arrived 10mins early went to table was told to order before 8as they had a big party due, Hmmmm had we, been on time.. Starters arrived quickly, but table tried to be cleared whilst one of the party still eating, was told "we'll keep the main meals back" when the mains arrived, not exactly pipping hot. Sonecpanacjing on behalf of restaurant manager I feel and as the restaurant not full, not necessary.
Shane, seems quite good otherwise.
Excellent service friendly and very good value been four times now and have enjoyed it every time I would always recommend this venue and will definitely be booking up again
Great Service, Great food at Great Prices
Took my South African visitors for a dinner - they absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back.
Amazing Sunday lunch. Alot of food. Well worth the money
The place need a refurb and the mens toilets were smelly and dirty. Food was OK but if id seen the toilets first I would have gone and eaten somewhere else.
Everything was ok overall. Burger was overcooked, but the roast dinners where fine, but clearly not freshly done. Used to be fantastic, which is a shame as the location is lovely.
Having eaten here on a Saturday night, when it was really hectic and terribly noisy, I was very uneasy about coming back. I had planned on a long lunch with a friend, so we could catch up. It was less busy and the service and food was good, but spoiled by the large TV showing football and the noise from the men watching it. We had not known about this before we booked. . I have ticked overall good as it would not be fair to the staff to say it was poor. Just dissapointing.
We ate on Saturday night and it was manic. With a wedding and 2 big birthday celebrations. We had asked for a quiet table, but had to sit in the middle of the room, with all this going on around us. The noise level was uncomfortable. We did not stay for desert or coffee, not was there anywhere we could move to, in order to chat, so we paid and left. I would not eat here on a saturday night again. By contrast, lunch the following day was much quieter and much more enjoyable.
Impressed with service and food, which was piping hot and served with a smile. My friend and I have hearing and visual disabilities and were unable to find a quiet, brightly lit space to sit. However, the staff were friendly and we were felt welcomed. The food was delicious and was served hot, always a plus in our books. Not having been to this establishment in some years but we would recommend and visit again.
The food itself was great but unfortunately the staff couldn’t find our reservation. Upon finishing our dinner we had to ask for the dessert menus to get the table cleared as had been waiting almost 15/20 mins after we finished. Not the greatest service I’m afraid
Yet again lovely food and great staff! And beautiful setting.
Came here for a Christmas lunch (7 people). Although it wasn't particularly busy day and we had pre-ordered the food, the service was slow and they forgot about the dessert course altogether. However, the food was good.
The waitress was very helpful. Food good.
Had not been for years as always so busy especially in the summer as over looks lake.
Had the sunday roast and it was lovely and plenty of it and came with a large yorkshire pud, tasty, friendly staff and really helpful , will be returning again .
A very impressive venue by the lake. Helpful staff, excellent food and a relaxed ambience in the Watermead Inn. I would certainly recommend to friends
