The Watersedge, Canal Cottages
Its picturesque location on the Grand Union Canal is close to West London, Heathrow and has excellent transport links within walking distance.
This makes us a favourite venue for all occasions and our hotel style letting rooms are popular with business travellers and those visiting london.
Amazing place! We had a lovely time and the staff, food, and atmosphere was great!
I was a bit disturbed that they did not have our booking on their records when we initially arrived, but they quickly arranged a table for our party of 10 people. Staff were very polite, professional and helpful. The one issue that we did encounter was that they was not enough staff on the bar and people had to wait to order their drinks. The food was very good and presented to a high standard. Have informed friends and other family members to visit this place, we are looking to book this establishment again in the future.
I visited the WatersEdge with my husband, we both throughly enjoyed our meals.. service was great, warm and welcoming and most of all relaxed... and with a good range of wines and spirits we were well catered for.. we most definitely will be back! Thankyou for a lovely evening.
Lovely food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. A lovely venue for any celebration.
Good quality food, decent portion sizes and good value for money.
Amazing food, amazing service but the noise was too loud. Meant to have a nice date with my girlfriend but couldn’t even hear eachother talk. Would defo come back, but not around party season
Good food and very pleasant server on day of our visit. Only comment would be that the amount of food supplied is rather too much for some elderly/or small apetite people and the childrens' menu is not always a suitable alternative. for example fish fingers is not a particularly good substitue for salmon!
We were unable to try the food or drinks as we could not park the car so had to leave car park to small for size of place should have been told not to come in car as it could be you will not be able to park 👎
Webt for sunday lunch with a friend we both orfered the roast beef which unfortunately had to be sent back as it was inedible. I suspect the meal was microwaved . We were ubable to cut the beef or pitatoes.
Came bank holiday Sunday with 13 friends to celebrate my husband and I’s wedding anniversary. Was throughly enjoying the food until about half an hour later every single person bar 3 was violently ill and I mean violently ill. We worked it out everyone who had the sausage or stuffing was the ones who was ill. My friends 9 year old daughter was so sick, not surprisingly everyone had to go home and the celebrations where over. Rang to explain and complain and 4 days later have still had no resolution. Very upsetting.
Sunday lunch, we arrived 1st so good service, hot fresh food and plenty of staff to assist.
The food was lovely however the service at times was really poor had to wait 20 minutes for table to be cleared before receiving our bill
Unless this changes I will not be returning or recommending
A lovely meal. Attentive and helpful staff and a lovely relaxed setting.
Tried Sunday lunch after enjoying an excellent midweek lunch.
Sunday lunch wasn't the same! Poor quality gluttinous tasteless gravy covered the (ample) meat (pork in my case, lamb for the wife), and sat alongside "roast" potatoes which weren't brown and certainly weren't crisp! The veg was overcooked and bland and the whole experience was very disappointing, given the very tasty midweek lunch (salads) that we had enjoyed a week or so earlier.
Shan't return on a Sunday again!
Meals were really lovely, location is great & pretty alongside the river, so expecially nice in the summer months for sitting outside.
Would recommend for Parties, including birthdays, weddings or just for an evening or lunch time meal.
Staff were very pleasant
The positives are the charming canal-side location and great service, lovely food too. But the arrangement of having a large party booking in the same room screened off only by fine semi-transparent netting was a little problematic with the noise making the atmosphere in the other half rather unsettling for the regular tables. Also I'd only consider this for a special occasion as the prices were rather steep and the bill a bit of a sting in the tail. Still, quite a classy and distinguished venue, and worth trying.
Was off to a shaky start when 2 of our party ordered fillet steak . Apparently there was only one left ! After taking our orders we were told the fillet steak had been sold . One of us ordered ribeye but found it a bit tough . Another of our group had cottage pie but it was very salty . I ordered the flat beef rib which was ok . Had heard amazing things about this place which for me it didn’t live up to , so unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend. It was also cold in there which I didn’t mind but some of our group did
We stayed in the blue room overnight. First of all, the first impression of the whole place was that it was tired and in need of a good overhaul. Would not recommend it to anyone at all. The room was small which was fine and the bathroom was good except that you could not regulate the shower very well resulting in being scalded or frozen. It was also clean. However, the bed had a protective cover on it which was awful as everytime you moved in bed you could hear it rustling and was uncomfortable and the pillows were not at all comfortable. The window blind was broken and there was no curtains which meant the light came in all night as the lights outside stayed on all night and the daylight came on about 4am. The carpet had seen better days as well. Sorry to be blunt but there is no fluffing this one up.
On a good note, the self service breakfast in the room was brilliant with fresh milk in the fridge and a good choice of things to eat.
You need to do something to the place to make it attractive. Have to say that your photographs on line make it look very inviting but obviously they were airbrushed!!!!! You could really make something of this place. I think it could be magic and the clientele would pour in time after time always giving good reviews.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch . Great to see the restaurant being used by family’s and people of all ages.
appalling service, couldn't even change a dirty lipsticked glass! under cooked calamari you could squeeze the fat out of, and the waitress said its okay we can pop it back in!! !!! barn dance atmosphere, main course hunters chicken swimming in grease inedible to be honest.... mentioned it to new waiter as we both left it , and he took off a coke from the bill!!! not even the wine but just the coke...a joke...would never recommend nor would I return...
We went here for my husbands birthday. We cannot fault anything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was really nice. Overall we both uad such a nice time. It was so relaxed in there. Would definately recommend it.
Nice restaurant in a lovely location, food was very good and waiting staff very attentive
We booked this for a family get together. We were visiting Uxbridge and don't know it well. The food was disappointing - especially the roasts which were bland and drowning in salty, rather tasteless gravy. More to the point, three of us suffered stomach upsets afterwards.
We would recommend this restaurant the food was well worth the money and staff were very friendly and helpful. Will be going again
Whilst the food was excellent, the service was absolutely shocking. Slow, unattentive and simply awful. This was a business dinner where we wanted an informal setting by the river but the service was so terrible it simply made for a bad evening!
Good food, although some of it could have been warmer, and friendly and attentive service. We had marked on the booking that this was a birthday celebration for my daughter but this did not seem to be recognised by the restaurant. This is an events venue decorated for wedding receptions and there were three large parties or events going on while we were there, although this did not seem to affect the service.
The back door was left open, cold air coming in and people were coming in and out all the time. The children were running round out to the garden
Apart from that the food was good. The only complaint was the desert - the melon was not ripe.
We were a group of 10 and pre-ordered the food. The service was great and food was delicious. We will definitely be going back!
Fairly decent lunch. Had the roast good portions. Service good really improve. We were at end of room and for a while couldn't get attention but when this was mentioned ideas rectified. Obviously used to catering for larger groups.
This restaurant is fabulous. The location is great, overlooking the canal, and the menu is varied and the food delicious. Brilliant friendly service and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommended
Fantastic staff...Fantastic food 👍👍👍, and child friendly at a great price
Online booking for a Saturday evening meal for party of 6 confirmed by email response. Subsequently called by restaurant manager on same day to be informed restaurant was not open that evening! Much short notice reorganisation required as a result. No point restaurant participating in an online booking system if a confirmed booking does not match the establishment's actual opening hours. Indicative of poor organisation.
The service was okay but then there was only one other table dining. Our starter was good but a little on the cool side. My main course was the lamb which was very good and cooked to my liking. My partners main was okay. It is in a good location but more of a seasonal venue.
fantastic food, lovely surroundings and good service - will be returning and would strongly recommend!
Popped in for a Sunday roast last week. Excellent food, service and value for money. Will be back soon
Arrived and asked if we could have an alternative to the standard gravy. The waiter checked with the kitchen and the chef said he could make it with a few veg stock cubes etc. I was really impressed with the attentiveness and when the Sunday roast arrived it was delicious! I would attach a photo however I'm unable to on this website. We were peally pleased with the service and good quality food.
Had a great Sunday lunch here, really tasty! Have been before and will def go again!
First time here, i would recommend the steaks, and the chinese chicken lettuce wraps! Although all the food looked great! Will be back to try a sunday roast!
