Empty on a Saturday evening? This is more to do with the limited appeal menu than any other current influence we think. This used to be a real destination restaurant/pub just buzzing with atmosphere & offering a superb menu with several fresh, local options e.g. surf'n'turf with fresh lobster. Not any more Disappointing.
Lovely pub food in great atmosphere.
The restaurant was relatively quiet, which only to be expected in January. Nevertheless both the full and the lunchtime menu had a wide range of dishes to choose from. The fish offerings seemed particularly good, specialising in local catches.
Service was just as one would expect for freshly prepared dishes, our host attentive and friendly. I had the Crab Fritters followed by a baked Cod dish with a delicious sauce.
It was a cold day and the ambience would have been even more welcoming with a log fire lit. However all four of us enjoyed our lunch. At no stage were we hurried and our host even produced a delicious chocolate confection to sharr when he learned it was my birthday.
All in all a delightful experience. We shall return!
Great pub. Friendly host and great food. Will definitely be returning
Our second time here within a month.
Great place, bedrooms are nice and spacious, comfy beds and nicely decorated.
Food is fantastic, great pub food and portions are huge!
Staff are really friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was also really nice with a good choice.
Wonderful staff very accommodating and good food cooked to perfection
We had a lovely meal this evening, staff very friendly and welcoming and the food was amazing!
Food fabulous, great service and overall fab experience. Will definitely be back
The service was prompt, although it was a quiet evening. The menu was imaginative and varied and the quality of ingredients and cooking excellent.
Excellent food freshly cooked and presented promptly
For the first time since dining here I was disappointed. A few of the dishes were sold out when trying to order and then was charged for drinks that were initially paid for at the bar. Overall the experience wasn’t one of the best from the West Bay I am sorry to say.
We serve a lot of fresh local fish, and sometimes the availability of some items can vary, so please accept our apologies if your first choice was not available. We hoped that the bottle of Vintage Champagne we upgraded you to from Prosecco had gone some way to redeem the situation. I do recall the positive feedback from your table about the quality of the food so I hope the blip with the bill won't put you off visiting again.
Good pub food. Plenty of choice on the menu particularly if you are looking for fish.
Starters of plump mussels, delicious potted crab and the retro prawn cocktail all went down well.
The shellfish linguine was tasty in a cream sauce as was the WestBay burger of battered fish with a side of skinny fries. The fish and chips were tasty the batter was light albeit a little bland. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. All reasonably priced.
