The Westleton Crown
Head Chef, Kieran Drinkwater, and his highly skilled team pride themselves on their imaginative and varied menus which have earned us a 2 AA Rosette restaurant award, as well as a considerable reputation.
All of our meals are prepared on the premises, using the finest, freshest ingredients and local suppliers wherever possible. The same level of care goes into the preparation, whether it’s a hearty breakfast, a simple lunchtime snack, a relaxed meal with friends, indulgent dinner or traditional Sunday roast. Our breads are baked daily in the kitchen; the soups, pâtés and all of our delicious desserts are home-made – even the ice cream.
Our menus are perfectly complemented by an extensive and sophisticated wine list or maybe our selection of real ales.
We look forward to you dining with us soon.

Really wide ranging menu choices. The food was amazing. Friendly and helpful staff and lovely ambiance. We will be back very soon!
We had recently Joined the Chestnut Club so took advantage of the offer on at the Crown of half priced main meals and we were delighted with our starters and main meals . The service was both very welcoming and attentive too .
Lovely looking venue, but an underwhelming menu and mediocre food. Anaemic fish and chips, a perfectly-acceptable burger (with 6 chips) but not particularly tasty. The panna cotta dessert tasted of nothing at all. Bizarre!
Food was excellent but service awful we waited an hour for our main course and when it did come the vegetarian meal was completely wrong. When the deserts came there were still items from main course on table. We have been many times before but this was a great disappointment.
Not very friendly on arrival and really slow, grumpy service. Food was very average, things like condiments took a long time to come to the table. Not somewhere I’d hurry back to
Very helpful staff and excellent food. We ate in restaurant but bar area looked great to eat in too.
Really lovely here , lovely food and such helpful staff . We really did enjoy it. We stayed here as well and will definetly be back soon ! Thoroughly recommended.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
Great food and drinks options. Would be even better with a few more vegetarian options.
Dear LindseyC, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
The staff were very accommodating as we had a well behaved small dog with us. Food was above average, well presented and excellent service.

Visited the westleton crown for the first time this weekend. What a lovely place, staff very friendly, food amazing and such a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Definitely recommend
Dear DianeB, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
Nice lunch with friend. We had a starter each and a delicious bowl of chips.
It was a cold day and, despite moving to near the fire, we were chilly.
It seemed quite expensive.
Lovely pub with good food and service. Seemed a little expensive.
Dear Bush, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
STAFF ALL VERY GOOD NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL.
VERY COMFORTABLE BED. FOOD OF A GOOD STANDARD.
Dear TerenceW, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
Food fantastic from Chestnut Group as always. Possibly struggling with staffing, worth an ask. Too quiet in conservatory midweek so ask to be in the pub, ambience likely better.
Menu very tasty.
For starters I had crab donut which was taste less and cold. Mains was sea bream with muscles (6 but 2 were empty) and a potato broth which completely swamped the meal. Dessert of gateau and ice cream which when asked what was I eating was only provided with a fork, I did later ask for a spoon which was provided. The cheese came with 2 small pieces of lavash which was not sufficient for the amount of cheese although more was provided upon request. No coffee after. At £75 pounds per head I will not be going back.
We have visited this pub a number of times of the years, and unfortunately, it seems that as the years have passed the quality has dropped.
The menu is limited, and seems fairly poor with any dietary requirements. In terms of service, everyone was friendly and polite however we requested the children's food to arrive with the starters in order to keep them happy however the children's food was actually forgotten entirely, so arrived significantly after everyone had finished their starters.
For the price point, not somewhere I would bother to venture out of my way again.
Seated as we requested on booking. Very good food. Staff were pretty busy and perhaps a bit stretched. But looked after us well. Noise levels were quite high as children and dogs present.
Dear JolyonO, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
It's very good and enjoyed the meals. It's lovely environment. The waitress are very friendly.
Dear SukarniW, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
We celebrated our son’s engagement with a nice lunch. Food and ambience good but service pleasant and cheerful but maybe a little slow.
Dear RobertL, Thank you very much for your lovely review. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best Regards, Anna Ruiz-Pardos
We were really looking forward to this experience. Unfortunately the atmosphere was poor in the parlour. Even a fake fire would have improved the ambience.
Our pheasant was dry and over cooked, the vegetables were very good.
Not really good value for money.
Food was average. Very small portions, very highly priced and minimal selection of main dishes. Bar and restaurant were well presented and clean though. Dog friendly too, which was lovely.
Food was very good, sirloin steak cooked perfect, tasted delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you for this great review. We are thrilled you enjoyed your dinner and hope you will be back again soon !
The food was amazing, everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back in the new year!
We are so glad you enjoyed your time at The Ship, we look forward to seeing you again in the new year !
A great place here in Suffolk, and it worth a visit.
Thank you so much for this kind review ! We hope you will be back again soon.
Lovely setting, great friendly service and excellent food.
Thank you so much for this great review !
Having also eaten the day before, we had planned our choices but were pleasantly surprised to find the menu had changed for Saturday, meaning I had real choice as a vegetarian- this isn’t always possible.
The only thing that let the meal down was the cheese and crackers to finish… crackers delicious but full of flavour, and cheese almost non existent… would have liked more!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review us ! We are so glad you enjoyed your time at The Ship and hope you will be back again soon. Thank you too for your feedback, much appreciated !
The food was well presented and had excellent flavour.
Thank you for this great rating !
Lovely environment to eat in conservatory and staff very attentive. Felt safe with good hygene measures in place for covid prevention. Tables wrll spread out.
Lovely welcome and very dog friendly. Will come again.
The portion size is very small for an expensive meal, quite tasteless at times too. Not a huge variation on the menu either.
My friend and I had a lovely couple of hours eating in the bar which is dog friendly. The service was excellent and staff so friendly. A lovely building with a cosy ambience. Food was good too.
Lovely place, great service and great food, would recommend
Food was good but the service was not what you’d expect at all. We waited a long time for drinks, having to ask twice about our bottle of fizz then the waiter just put it on the table without even opening it. Waitress cleared starters when my dad was still eating. Nobody came to clear deserts or to allow us to pay the bill or order last drinks. Service from SOME members of staff was not warm or friendly. For the prices I’d never return here
Very good meal with lots of flavor. We would eat there again in the future.
Whilst the food is very nice the appalling service spoilt our meal. I can’t recall having experienced such indifference from staff. This is not a restaurant I would return to and there are no circumstances under which I would recommend it.
We enjoy going to the crown, the food was ok although my husband was still hungry after his meal it was quiet small for the price.
The double chocolate soufflé was a disappointing end to our meal as it was more like a chocolate cake!
Stayed for a festive break. Very good food and service. Highly recommended!!
Some very good food, nice atmosphere, very accommodating to our 18 month old. Pannacotta was too set, so didn't enjoy that, but ate my husband's order of plum and frangipan tart instead, and that was delicious!
Delicious food and good service. Happy birthday message on a dessert was a nice touch.
Very good service,very efficient.
The food was delicious and very nicely presented. Relaxed atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. I would highly recommend this delightful pub
