Beautiful interior, superb service. The muscles were so tasty! Will be back.
One of my favorite places to go, especially in midtown. The hosts/hostesses are especially friendly and welcoming every time. I have experienced inattentive waitstaff regularly, and oftentimes they and/or the kitchen doesn’t quite listen and implement any special requests made when ordering. (Also I recognize that it’s a higher end restaurant but the alcohol prices are really unnecessarily exorbitant). Overall, I love to come here; I just always leave a tad disappointed by two or three details or elements along the way, hence taking off a star.
Distinct point of view and personality to this establishment. Recommend it highly.
Excelente restaurante, ambiente, cocteles y comida. El servicio muy bueno también. Pedí la ternera y el bife. Ambos muy buenos. Recomendados.
The ambience and cuisine are first rate at The Whitby. Our server was not so great.
Tasty brunch but stark. Small portions. Pricey. No delightful surprise.
I love the Whitby. It is a great place for cocktails and meals. We had a delicious brunch on Sunday, preceded by drinks on Friday. The decor is out of this world cool and the service is spectacular. Look forward to visiting again soon!
Fantastic place with excellent food, great service and wonderful ambiance!
Food bad service bad
Beautiful decor, friendly and great service, wonderful food.
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!
I had my first business breakfast meeting since the pandemic and it was wonderful. The restaurant has impeccable decor, great service and good food selections. I am looking forward to going back soon.
Great location for a business breakfast. Would recommend.
Thoroughly enjoyable. On the way out the Manager of The Whitby spoke with us and extended great kindness and personality.
It was the most disappointing dining experience I’ve had in New York. Didn’t get my drink till after the food came out and only drank it to get over the disappointment that this place was. Maybe it was just my luck but that was an absolutely atrocious experience.
sadly when we made our reservation we were not made aware the dining room was closed so we were seated at a table in the bar area. very noisy and not as pretty as being seated in the dining room. service was erratic. drinks order took forever then arrived incorrectly. then took a long time to get attention to order our mains. had to ask for bread. had no idea kitchen closed at 9p. (we had a 7:30p reservation) service so slow by the time we received our main courses we were asked if we wanted dessert we had to order it then and now. we said ok but could we have a menu as without that we can't give you an answer.
food was very mediocre (short ribs ok, burger not flavorful, fries soggy, caesar salad with chicken-overly dressed). no specials offered. dessert was stale. all in all would not return. Decor is lovely as I am a Kit Kemp fan but would only go for a quick drink and snack not for a celebratory dinner which was why we were there. poor choice. oh well.
Love the place… the ambience and decor is super. Highly recommend!
Good food served in an elegant but not intimidating setting by attentive, cheerful waitstaff.
Staff was amazing, place is so cute, food was delightful. Over all crowd pleaser. Decor so fun and beautiful
Breakfast was great!
i came here for a birthday get-together and the staff were very accommodating and welcoming. though we didn’t reserve an appointment for afternoon tea via calling, they still arranged for my friends and i have to it despite it being very last minute.
Great place. Will go again
Great experience for my guest was the first time at the Whitby but not a great table … overall very good 😊
The BEST !! I adore this place !!!!
Beautiful location and was ideal for a quite business meeting . Food was excellent
Perfect place for a beautiful and quiet breakfast/brunch. Service and attention to detail are impeccable throughout the experience. This has to be one of the most beautifully decorated spaces in NYC. Will come back for sure!
Such a well designed room…Every detail was impeccable…The food was delicious…We were there for breakfast and the chicken apple sausage was insane and the hash browns delightful…Possibly the worst coffee I’ve ever had but I needed the caffeine so what was I going to do…The service was friendly and attentive…I will definitely be back.
While visiting NYC, I wanted a fancy, pretty breakfast with all the fix-ins. Upon glancing at the Whitby breakfast menu and photos of the dining room, it seemed like a safe bet. If you are looking for a very quiet, elegant breakfast, then this place is good on the surface. Yes, you will get nice pretty plates, silver tea kettles, and decent service. However, the prices were so high for such a small amount of food, it was mind blowing. I got the American Breakfast; 2 eggs, bacon, and waffles. It cost 32 dollars, which is insane, but its such a classic meal, I figured, How could it go wrong? Well, my two poached eggs were the smallest I have ever been served, and tasted so bland and rubbery that I didn't even finish them. I got 2 measly strips of bacon, both were mostly just the white fatty party. And the waffles, while they tasted great, were just two tiny triangular pieces, cut from a full size waffle. Pieces so small, each would fit in the palm of your hand - no bigger. Oh, and they forgot the syrup and butter, so by the time they brought that out for me, the waffles were almost cold. My brothers meal came out a solid 5 minutes behind the rest of ours. For the price, I truly could not believe how small the portions were. And yes its a pretty room, but when we were there, there was only 1 other party present and we were sat right next to each other. It was so quiet, we were practically involved in the next tables conversation. All and all, just a disappointing experience. Especially for the sky high price. Awful.
It was so nice to be back to a slice of Civilization after the Manhattan craziness. I bring many people here for lunch-friends and business associates, and we all love it.
I ordered tuna Tacos. They were minuscule and had no tuna only avocado. At the size of one knuckle they should be ashamed of serving this at $24. It was listed under snack but on the luncheon menu. Even as a snack at that price it was robbery.
My guest had a mediocre Caesar salad with overcooked chicken.
Lovely spot, creative food, attentive staff, great place for lunch, tea, or a drink
Loved it, decor divine!
Rather disappointing given this is our third visit . Service was good but the food quality was not satisfying. The short ribs was over cooked, burger was so so and the fries were soggy. . The banana cream desert was nothing to write home about .
Amazing experience. Love the decoration, the music creating a loving mood. The dishes..... The food needs a little more of something, but I really love the moment
Exceptional dining experience. Our waiter was simply stellar. Our food and drinks were prepared so incredibly well. This will surely become a staple for my friends and I.
We went here for afternoon tea but did not know that we had to call to make a reservation for afternoon tea, not through online. Thankfully, they allowed us in and we had an outstanding tea and small bites. Make sure to call to make a high tea reservation! Recommend to anyone, seriously the place was so pretty.
Very eclectic interior with excellent food and service.
Although the kitchen unfortunately closed at 9:00pm there was no pressure to leave. Steaks were excellent as were cocktails. Service was top quality. Relaxed atmosphere.
I love high tea at the Whitby. On the particular day that I visited with my daughter, the front staff seemed not very polished/professional.I had asked for another table for 2 and they refused to give me a corner table that was set up as a 3 top. It remained empty for the entirety of our Mother’s Day tea. The table service was pleasant but not as attentive as my previous visits. If the bill was significantly below $200.00 for 2, I would not comment. it was a disappointing visit.
