The meal was ruined by a noisy group completely dominating the restaurant which quickly emptied. Conversation with my guests was impossible. The whole of the bar and restaurant areas were open and there were no divisions or soft furnishings to absorb the sound.
The waitresses and bar staff were excellent and very attentive. The Heritage beetroot salad and Sussex Smokie were brilliant and reasonably priced.
Excellent service, amazing food and the staff were all smiling and friendly.
Definately recommend and will be back for more!
We have had very good experiences in the past, however a combination of an 'event' happening at the same time, and our seating time, meant we were disappointed.
We were advised service of the food would be delayed. In itself this was well informed, and the food arrived aporoximately 45 minutes later as they had warned. However the standard was not good, with the roast beef clearly being the remains of the joint, hard and grissly.
Service at the bar was prompt and courteous.
The noise level, caused by the party/event was unfortunate and ruined the birthday meal.
Went for Sunday lunch was told 30min wait time took over 1:30hrs.
Was told only 2 chefs on and big christening party in. Said shouldn’t have taken bookings.
Beef was very tough and potatoes very hard.
Shame used to be very good.
Lovely food and excellent staff as always - but surely it’s time to change the menu or at least add some daily specials? The menu has been the same since you reopened and for those of us who are regulars it’s getting a bit boring.
New owners but just as good as it was - Smokey was different but still brilliant so all good
Friendly staff. Inexperienced chef who put chicken in the vegetarian curry for which they were very apologetic & I chose beetroot salad instead. Steak was tender & chips were tasty. We all enjoyed our meals.
Haven't been to the White Hart for ages since under new ownership. Our food was great and service very very good. We would definitely eat there again
Nice pub, friendly staff, good food. Small menu so quality food
The staff were lovely and the food good, although we only went for a light lunch. We moved tables as there was a party sitting near us that were quite loud and then it was fine.
The White Hart was always a cosy, friendly pub to go to but although the staff did their best, the surroundings were bland and boring. And surprisingly quiet for a Saturday lunchtime.
Good food and pleasant staff but a mixup on the main course. We ordered smokies and out came fish & chips. So we waited while our smokies arrived
Fantastic food with good service, would thoroughly recommend.
Very slow service at the bar, they had run out of cider and at least one dish on the menu by 1 pm on a Wednesday. Not as good as it used to be for either service or menu. Disappointing.
We had a delicious meal at the White Hart - so much better than the last two times I've eaten there. The Sussex Smokie was packed with prawns and white fish in a hot, cheesy sauce, and I was able to swop my chips for mash. My friend's Pork Schnitzel was tender and not too thick, and his chocolate brownie was smothered in hot chocolate sauce. The service, as always, was good, ditto the ambience of this lovely old pub.
food seemed overcooked and the fact that two groups decided to bring there barking dogs to lunch which in a restaurant did not seem right
Delicious food - I had the coconut curry with prawns and it was incredible! The sticky toffee pudding was super tasty too!
Good food at reasonable prices. Friendly helpful staff.
First visit back after change of ownership. Staff very nice ,disappointed no roast and very minimal choice but food was good.Overall good ,thank you.
Lovely local pub. We were on a weekend away in the village. Good, friendly service with lovely food. Very accommodating for gluten free options. Would recommend.
Amazing moules frites - one of the best I’ve ever had and same for the sticky toffee pudding. And great kids menu with extra special treat from the chef - And brilliant service. Thankyou.
I just love it here. I can’t say I would order the Chicken and bacon sandwich again, but that’s personal choice as my mum loved it!
It’s a little dark when ghe back room is closed as there’s not much natural light. The staff are ALWAYS so friendly, and it continues to be my fave place for Sunday roast.
A lovely fresh meal. Just the right surroundings for me to catch up with me friend. The staff were friendly. I will go there again.
Menu much reduced since the last time we went. Quality of the beef curry was poor. Pub is fine, staff pleasant so would recommend for a drink but not dining unless the smaller menu suits you
We ate outside in the pretty courtyard garden. There were several favourite dishes on the menu that were 'not available' sadly, but the fish and chips that we then settled on was very good. Friendly staff and would visit again.
Our second visit in a 4-night stay in Henfield - says it all!
White Hart is a good pub / restaurant, however the recent change of ownership has introduced a more limited food menu of 4-5 main course plus 4 choices of burgers. This is much more restrictive than previously and, with a larger group, perhaps too restrictive.
This said, quality of food was average to good and the prices competitive. Service was good and, with BREXIT issues and COVID lockdowns ending I feel will improve further (as with other establishments as they get back on their feet).
All in all I will continue to visit, however would encourage a wider menu to be introduced. If you have a large group there will probably not be enough choice.
Beers are good, pub is now owned by Badger Breweries.
Poor. No menus, needed to be printed, then one item not available. Incredibly slow
service really good, staff very attentive, food good, great value
Usually very good but sadly this wasn’t a good night
Had run out of the starters we all wanted , had run out of the main courses we wanted and the beetroot salad had one piece of beetroot in it , just salad leaves , we had it last time we visited and it was lovely but one piece of beetroot is not ok
Hope it’s back to normal next time
Excellent food, very efficient & polite staff! Great experience!!
Quiet early evening meal.delicious ham, egg & chips. Friendly staff . Tasty salad
If you've never been to Henfield, plan a trip. And make sure you have a meal at the White Hart Hotel. My mother-in-law's grandfather own this pub 100 years ago - and it hasnt changed much since. We arranged a family pub lunch here. Great food and great service. The menu was straight-forward pub-grub, all fresh and really tasty - good sized helpings (we couldnt manage a desert). Excellent choice of drinks, including Badger Beers on tap (well kept, a Ale drinkers dream). We finished off with a little stroll down the beautifully kept historic High Street. Again pity we didnt have room for a stop at one of the many Tea Shops. Very enjoyable experience. We'll be back (wont leave it 100 years this time though).
The staff are lovely and always so helpful in the White Hart, which is a beautiful old pub, nicely laid out with lots of space between the tables. However, the quality of the cooking isn't as good as it was a few weeks ago. This time, my friend's White Hart Smokie was nicely flavoured but very dry, when it should have been in a sauce. The veggie curry is always delicious, and my burger was good, too, but the portions are huge - far too big for most women's appetites in the evening - so maybe cut back on the size and up the quality? One small criticism is that the menu hasn't changed in months - it would be good to have some specials available, to ring the changes for regulars.
I love this new find pub. The food is great and they do a lovely Pinot Grigio Rose. Just booked for Sunday roast today and can’t wait! Yum.
The salad special was rather disappointing but, the ham, eggs & chips was excellent!
Excellent service however food took quite a long time to arrive.
Went their for a lunchtime snack. Food was ok but despite it being a simple order they still managed to cock it up. Bread wasn't stale but equally wasn't fresh.
Nice beer garden and friendly staff. Prices ok but overall I wouldn't rush back.
If this was an end of term report I think it could be summed up by "Could do better"
Lovely garden and good service. Staff were friendly and efficient. Would recommend eating here.
Under new management and had a bit of a makeover with stripped floors and tables.
Food was tasty Tiger prawns and the Smokie. Very pleasant
