The White Horse at Tilbrook
Our aim is to do the simple things right, go the extra step, make you feel at home and let you realise food is about fun!
Our influences and inspirations come from all across the globe, this may be an authentic pizza from a trip to Italy, chicken wings we tried in Malaysia or an amazing burger we ate on a trip to New York.
We had a great dinner for Father's Day. Lovely staff, great food, nice layout and garden for the kids. We'll definitely be back! Even went to the shop to get milk for our daughter as they'd run out. Overall brilliant experience. Thank you
The service was rushed , I also had around 4 different waiters!! The food was ok my partners roast beef was too thinly sliced and completely red my pork was over cooked and the crackling was very salty .. My prawn cocktail was premade with a skin formed from being in the fridge and the bread was cold too.. I would like to give them another go as the surroundings where pleasant
Very good quality and being a vegan - great options for me, as well as my meat eating friends
Just had fish and chips but it was excellent. Freshly cooked and well presented.
we went to the venue for a family meal, the staff where friendly and the setting is beautiful! Would 100% recommend. Extremely happy!
Excellent lunch. We visited with 4 adults and 4 children. The kids loved the make your own pizzas and the food is of very high standard. Highly recommend.
I wouldn't call myself a "regular" but I have a feeling I will become one - Best pub for miles and miles, friendly and well trained staff, nice beers, food is fantastic and the atmosphere is suitable for Families, couples and friends just out for a pint. The menu doesn't seem to change much but thats fine for me, I like the idea of a help for heros burger, although I skipped it and went for the red lion burger this time around and I get sick if I eat Mushrooms. Looking forward to partaking of a pint or two in the not too distant...
Lovely food and good service
Can’t wait to come back again
Were made to feel very welcome by Grant. Food exceptizonal specially the chips excellent service. Haven't been there since under new management & very pleasantly surprised. Upgrades to conservatory area great no more trip hazards and removing perilous steps stroke of genius. Will definitely be back again
The team couldn’t do more to meet our complexed requests to accommodate varying dietary needs not a single meal ordered was standard to the menu! The kids menu has a create your own pizza which kept our little ones entertained, we will be back and would highly recommend as a treat if visiting the campsite across the road 😁
Excellent food. Good service. Nice location. Would definitely visit again
Not as nice as it was when it first opened. Not worth the £80 bill. The service and the food quality is not the same.
Friendly pub with good atmosphere, food and service. If you are into Bloody Mary cocktails, they are the best in the whole of the country!
Have visited about half a dozen times and they are consistent with the level of the above attributes.
Didn't know this place was here - we're from Rushden. Will be returning. Extensive menu.
The setting, food and service were absolutely fantastic!!! well worth the money
The White Horse is getting better every time we visit. Seemed a bit short staffed on Friday.
Lovely place, well looked after. Steak was excellent with good flavour to the sauce which was served separate to the meal. This is something I like - I hate the plate drenched in the sauce.
Fabulous food with friendly attentive staff. Great atmosphere and most importantly child friendly.
Loved it, planning to take others here. Couldn’t say a bad word about it!!
Very nice location, friendly staff and the children loved making there pizzas and playing outside. I feel for the price I would have liked a larger steak (I had ribeye) and the onion rings didn't taste fresh. Apart from that overall a very nice, quite evening meal.
It’s the first time we’ve been, I found the booking easy and the restaurant was nice and not too busy. The Sunday lunch roast rump we had was delicious. And the pudding waffle too.
If I had to give any constructive feedback I found the menu very limiting. Maybe a few specials might have been nice....but that’s just a personal opinion. It wouldn’t stop me going again.
The play area had a broken swing and quite a few large pot holes that the council would be proud of. Not overly safe for a toddler but adequate.
Excellent menu, something for everyone and reasonably priced. Service is fast and friendly. Great drinks menu.
We received fantastic service as well as fabulous food. Our waitress was a great laugh and made our evening a lot of fun. They were welcoming of our birthday cake which we took along with us and all. The staff came out and sung happy birthday when they brought his cake with candles. We had a superb evening and the food servings were plentiful and great value for money.
This was our third weekday lunchtime visit in recent weeks. Our first visit had been fine, the second visit not so good and so we wanted to give it another go.
It transpired that there was to be a very large party of people who had obviously pre-ordered food. We were not told, until we were at the table, that we could only choose from the set lunch menu (no reason was given), this was particularly annoying. Had we known about the large party and limited choice when we had reserved, or been told subsequently prior to arrival, we would have gone elsewhere. Wish we had.
We were a party of 6, including 2 elderly, 1 teen and 1 pre-teen. The set menu (only 1 copy available) was limited and when I asked whether it would be possible to order something a bit more run of the mill (the large group were tucking into fish and chips!), we were told that we could only order from the limited set menu, although the chef would be happy to remove certain elements! The children therefore reluctantly ordered food that they didn't want. As this was a birthday treat for my father-in-law, it wasn't appropriate to get up and leave.
The Cobb Salad with chicken and pancetta, had pancetta but no sign of chicken. The Chef kindly sent a generous portion of chicken when we pointed this out. The lady that served us, whilst very pleasant appeared unsure and at times out of her depth. There was also a lengthy wait when we first arrived whilst the staff dealt with the arrival of the big group.
The group were noisy and it didn't make for easy conversation - sadly the impact on the other diners in terms of lack of menu choice was extremely disappointing, in particular as the large group were being served food other than the set menu.
Frankly the entire experience was underwhelming and rather embarrassing for us. The food was unfortunately mediocre - the choice very limited. The children did enjoy the puddings. Bad experiences (and reviews) are avoidable if you manage expectations.
This is the only Sunday lunch I’ve had without greens. Was told that the chef won’t serve them as it upset the look of the plate!!!!spoilt a good meal
Great venue and the food was delightful.
I treated my mum for lunch choosing here based on reviews and the menu and it did not disappoint.
The Lamb Shank was so tasty and the Chicken fajita burger was huge. Great flavours and a really extensive drinks list.
We were too full to try pudding but I'm sure it would have been just as good.
Lovely atmosphere looking out over the fields and a very secure area for children.
Will be visiting again as service was outstanding.
We tried the lunchtime menu which looked appetising. The service was very good, although there was something of a pause between the starters and main course. The food was fine but not outstanding, and, we felt, slightly pricey for what we had. The steak sandwich was very good.
That said, the ambience was good, the small dog was made welcome and we would certainly go again.
This was the fourth time we have visited the White Horse. The first two times we felt we were rushed in and out. The third time was very good all round. This time, ambience and service good, however food was decidedly average. My wife’s macaroni cheese we felt was a very small portion, an my burger was over cooked.
Great food served here, pleasant staff and good value.
As Gastro pubs go this is in the upper tier with high quality presentation in a pleasant environment, the food was very presentable and full of complex tastes, the children's menu had a good range of items however the macaroni cheese chosen by our daughter was far too thick and cheesy, yes they do say the cheesiest on the menu but eatable would be a bonus. The veggie burger was exceptionally good as was the beef however the limited vegetable selection; only button mushrooms, shallots and overly peppered cabbage left the dish short of gaps between the very well cooked huge portion of beef provided. Deserts were superb and very different to other establishments in the area. Car parking was a bit chaotic, at 6pm on a Saturday there were hardly any spaces left, and the cars that were there were parked such that they were using 1.5 spaces per vehicle. We will be back, but not next week.
As a family on holiday in the area to find such a gem made our break. Over the week we used this place three times, must say what we thought of such a fantastic pace.
Are at the white horse for mother’s day, the pub was very busy and lively but we weren’t made to feel rushed at any point. The staff handled the number of people very well and everyone was really happy, the food was glorious and we had a wonderful meal! We brought my nanna from Wisbech and she said she would make the trip again!! Will definitely be back! Thank you!
Lovely location, lovely people and a very relaxed atmosphere! Food was lovely and the service was very good too!
Good food shame the service staff can’t keep there thoughts too themselves and get a simple order right
Good value fixed lunch menu. Nice conservatory, would recommend.
Lovely food, service was good but could have been a bit cheerier. Overall it was good
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at the White Horse this past weekend. All the roasts, the burger and the mac n cheese went down very well. My veggie courgette, mushroom and ricotta tart was a little bland but was certainly edible. Would definitely visit again.
To have to wait over an hour for mains is unacceptable
Also,to have ordered and then be told there are no burgers left seems strange, considering diners who sat down after us got burgers - how can this be?
Overall a very disappointing experience.
Much improved since we last visited. The food quality is better and nicely presented. I do miss the fact that there are no “specials “ and the menu is always the same. As a local this is likely to soon feel rather boring.
We had a friendly welcome, which is always a good start. Service was excellent throughout the meal and our 6 year old granddaughter was looked after particularly well, with extra drawing paper being provided without any complaint. The food was excellent and the beer in good condition (I had the Young's). The pub has been renovated very well to create more light and space than before. Cannot fault anything.
