We had a friendly welcome, which is always a good start. Service was excellent throughout the meal and our 6 year old granddaughter was looked after particularly well, with extra drawing paper being provided without any complaint. The food was excellent and the beer in good condition (I had the Young's). The pub has been renovated very well to create more light and space than before. Cannot fault anything.
Having been to the new White Horse three times now it is bound to be a regular. There are two or three excellent notable pub restaurants in the area and this is on a parr with the best of them.
We have brought two others for the first time twice now and their remarks confirm what I have said.
We had a lovely meal. Service was a bit slow but it was very busy, and actually it was nice to be forced relax over the meal! The waiters were polite. The food was lovely. Overall we were pleased and will return.
Trying too hard to be something is not. Perfect country pub Fayre is steak pie, lasagne, ham egg & chips ... None of which on menu. Service was friendly but food delivery was slow and when it finally arrived my burger was burned and hubby's bun was black. Took too long to bother complaining, just wanted to eat and leave by this point. Couple at adjacent table used frequent loud bad language and or son was dining with us-not the establishments fault but no-one said anything. Mediocre at best. Not somewhere for a special occasion
Fabulous Friday chippy menu. The haddock was melted in the mouth the batter done to perfection crispy but not heavy. Doughnuts were naughty but nice, with chocolate dipping sauce that just rounded off the Friday night perfectly.
Lovely place to eat,Great Staff extremely Welcoming.I hope to have a T Bone Steak next time and a Apple Pie and Custard but that's just me.
My husband and I are visiting a different venue every week and giving marks out of ten. The White Horse got a big fat ten. The first of many visits.
This was not our first visit to The White Horse, we are always impressed by the food and standard of service. It is our favourite place to eat and we particularly enjoy bringing friends. The staff are always friendly and welcoming whilst still managing to provide swift and efficient service. We're looking forward to being able to sit outside in the summer evenings and watch the sunset over the field - what a view!
great pub. stunning decor. lovely full menu. great presentation on the plate. friendly warm staff. def will be back. well done
Arrived and given the a table right in the doorway every time the door opened you were frozen by a gust of cold air. Had beef bourguinion aske if it came with potatoes. Told it came with pureed potatoes. Just came with curly Kale.
Definitely would not recommend and will not return.
This place is lovely, we are going back as only 10 mins away
The decor is amazing, we were seated in the new extension which has been decorated to an exceptionally high standard. The service was prompt and attentive. The menu was a great mix of tradtitional pub food and new recipes. The lamb shank was so tender it was falling off the fork. The wife's half chicken was accompanied by a large portion of chips and onion rings. Both were perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend the White Horse to anyone
Lovely meal with the family to celebrate my sons birthday. Will definitely be back!
Great service..great food. Lovely bright inside and a nice seating area outside
The White horse has gone from strength to strength since it's refurbishment last July and is clearly enormously popular and the number of people dining demonstrate that it is a 'destination' pub.
if you want to dine Fridays and Saturdays - make sure you book in advance.
We took three grandchildren for an early evening meal. The food was great, the surroundings and atmosphere lovely but what made the experience outstanding for us was the excellent service. Nothing was too much trouble for these super friendly staff. It was not our first visit, and will definitely not be our last. We love the place.
Been a few times now. Lovely setting, very nice food - My girls like making their own pizzas from the children’s menu. Veryfamily orientated. Lovely evening. Thank you.
This was our second visit to the pub (we'd had lunch there the week before). The ambiance is lovely, certainly it was when we sat in the conservatory on our first visit. On our second visit the conservatory was not being used - I'm not sure why - and we were all seated at tables in the bar, where it was quite chilly.
The food choice was excellent and, when it arrived was delicious. The pub was busy again, and the service pleasant but slow. One element of one of our dishes did not arrive, but this was rectified quickly.
A very nice experience, but would have been enhanced had the service been a little bit quicker. Our visit lasted 2 hours.
5 friends and I went for an all you can eat Rib night on a Monday. The food was amazing (unlike some all you can eat challenges). I can’t fault the value for money. The time between plates was quite long but in hindsight I don’t think I could have eaten any more anyway! 100% will be going again if they do another challenge night.
Lovely place to eat. However no lunch menu i.e sandwiches or lighter bites but really nice country pub.
Lovely meal yet again x amazing flavoured steak !! Landlord introduced himself x fabulous ambience great evening xx
We went as a group as had a lovely time. Gorgeous setting. Bit disappointing as a few items we wanted to order were not on the menu and there was a mistake with one of the sides. The food is good pub grub and I am sure we will return at some point.
Great service with a smile. Food was enjoyed by all 7 in our party with a good variety to choose from.
Excellent service, delicious food and plenty of it!
The pub and restaurant were very busy when we arrived for our 7.00 p.m. booking. We were shown to a table straightaway and furnished with food menus. A waitress arrived to take our drinks order at 7.15. We asked to see a drinks menu and ordered our drinks plus a sharing pre-dinner platter. Our drinks arrived at 7.30 and we ordered our food and reminded the waitress about our pre-dinner platter. Starters arrived for 2 of our party at 8.00 p.m. - no pre-dinner platter. We cancelled it and ordered more drinks. By 8.15 our drinks hadn’t arrived. The waiter told us “ There’s only one barman”. Our main meals arrived at 8.30.
The food was very nice but the poor service was embarrassing as we’d taken friends out for the evening.
As I said, the whole place was very busy but there weren’t enough staff on to give an acceptable service.
Went for Sunday lunch, food and service was excellent, but parking was very difficult.
Didn’t think that there was a lot of choice on the menu & quire expensive for what we had
The welcome was lovely, and the first course was piping hot, just out of the oven, excellent, but the main, mine was tepid and the chips were the same, theyhave not just come from the Same place. They re cooked and much better the second time.
The sweets, of ice cream, for what it was was very over priced
We had a lovely evening at the White Horse, Tilbrook. After hearing great things and seeing the renovations online, we couldn’t wait to visit and we were not disappointed.
Really enjoyed our food and will be returning to try more off of the menu. Thank you very much for an enjoyable
This is a pub we have known for many years and use it as a half way meeting point to enjoy a meal with friends, we were sad when it closed. Now reopened and decorated to a very high standard it looks great, sadly the food does not match up to that. The menu is very pretentious, with some very strange combination dishes and we all had difficulty finding something. I opted for the beef blade bourguignon, described as having the 'delicious flavours of Southern France. It was utterly tasteless, the meat was stringy and very poor quality, there were 2 button mushrooms, what appeared to be 4 tiny bits of fatty bacon and barely a spoonful of well under cooked cabbage, no other vegetables. It was dreadful. My wife had the Mushroom ricotta filo tart which was disgusting. Neither of us finished our meals, which are described in the menu as 'pub classics', really?? They need to improve the menu considerable with some sensible options and not just burgers and pizza of which there were a lot. Thoroughly disappointing.
Amazing in every way would recommend to anyone and everyone
We were made very welcome on arrival and quickly shown to our table. The menu was extensive and our meals of the salmon and plaice were very good and tasty. The dessert menu was good and we had an excellent sweet but I would suggest perhaps a fork could be given as well as a spoon for the dessert.
Great place for sunday lunch we spent a very happy 2and a half hours! The service was great really friendly and the build your own pizza for the kids with chefs hat is a stroke of genius! We will be back! Thanks
This was our first visit to the White Horse at Tilbrook, which was recommended by friends. We booked in advance, but when we arrived we felt as though they were 'finding' us a table.. we were then squeezed onto the tiniest table for 2 we've 'ever' eaten at, which had criss-cross legs that you either had to uncomfortably push your legs in the middle of or sit very wide legged (which is not exactly easy with a skirt on!). The food was bland, the peppercorn sauce watery and the chip fat definitely needed changing (which we found out to our cost later via indigestion). We ordered a drink which never arrived but which appeared on our bill. And generally, it was not an experience we are planning to repeat. Which is a shame, as we only live 15/20 mins away and were looking forward to having a new pub/restaurant to enjoy and take our friends and family to.
Fantastic service - starters are amazing! Will recommend - really friendly!
Top notch staff! Very friendly. Great service. Great beer selection. Delicious menu. Family and pet friendly. Love the focaccia bread! Really enjoy the atmosphere. 😃
Superb service from the time we arrived, the food was excellent quality and quantity.
We visited The White Horse at 4pm on New Year's Day after making an online reservation in the morning. The friendly staff, family ambiance, excellent food a good range of beers, fine wines and selection of gins meant that we all had a fantastic and memorable family meal.
We enjoyed everything: food, ambience, service, etc. Will happily go again and recommend to others!
