It's a pricy place that promises a lot but it just didn't work for me. The staff that were working were great but there seemed to be a few too few of them to facilitate great service. The food was OK, no complaints but my sense is that they were trying to be too fancy (reflected in the prices) but couldn't pull it off. Little things like staff carrying plastic tubs of dishes through the restaurant let it down. I'm not rushing back.
Very pleasant Mother’s Day meal staff very polite and helpful
Had a lovely quite family meal. Food and service was good
It’s was my Christmas night out with friends had a wonderful night I would come again 😄😄😄😄😄
Very poor vegan options.
Interesting that all chips/ potatoes are cooked in the same oil as all fish. I would have expected a high end gastro pub to provide vegan friendly fries!
Food was excellent but I thought the service was a bit rushed!
We've been coming to the White Swan on and off for years but this time we felt let down by the experience, especially the quality of the food. The seafood linguine was overpowered by chilli making it superhot, while the duck was dry in the duck salad. Service was pretty perfunctory as well. Disappointing, as we had taken guests with us.
Great staff, food and wine in really well Decorated old pub
We have been dining at the White Swan occasionally over the past 10yrs and across that time the standard of food and service has remained commendably high.
This occasion was business as usual, lovely food, pleasant ambience and attentive service. Value loses a star as the bill very quickly gets expensive when adding drinks, but otherwise this place offers a great restaurant that is worth the journey.
Nice place but had to ask for the music to be turned down so we could talk (we were having an early lunch so very few people in there). Food nice but they opened the double doors while we were still eating, still a nice experience, will still go back
We needed a venue in Harborne to meet a friend for Sunday lunch. We arrived early but were able to go straight to our table. The service was brisk, efficient and friendly but not rushed. The food was excellent and there was a wide but not excessive choice. This was not our first visit and we have never been really disappointed with the food but on this occasion it was excellent. The bar and restaurant can be crowded later in the afternoon but the service doesn’t deteriorate. The selection of draught cask conditioned beers is limited but well kept and there is a reasonable wine list. We would certainly recommend it to others.
Very nice meal perfect service
Absolutely brilliant experience on a busy Mother's Day -the service was excellent and the food amazing -
Lovely food, attentive service and relaxed atmosphere.
Best roast I’ve ever had!!
Cookie and salted caramel ice cream for pudding was just delightful!
Can’t wait to return!
I went with my family for dinner on a Saturday night at The White Swan. Although the food was mainly good (except for the complete absence of any lobster in my lobster, king prawn and chorizo linguine), the service was far from acceptable. Firstly, one starter was forgotten, then the very young waiter brought the main courses before clearing the table of our starter plates. Finally, one of the desserts was also missed. This is the worst service I think I have ever experienced in a restaurant, very disappointing, and it spoilt the overall dining experience
Food much improved and would definitely return.Very friendly staff.
Another good visit. Only thing my first option was not available,
the location, ambience, service and value for money were all good, however we felt let down by one key factor and that was the food!
The food wasn't terrible by any stretch, in-fact the Wine and Desert were very good.
However when my wife had ordered the Sunday roast (pork) it fell short of the mark, the dish was very well presented, but the pork amounted to two dry small slices of pork, the crackling amounted to a tiny piece of soft fat, and the mention of the apple sauce on the menu clearly didn't exist!
Myself I had cod and chips, again disappointing, the cod was a square shape, clearly came out of the freezer and not battered on site. the chips were a very dark colour which indicated the oil used to cook them in was clearly dirty/over used.
The front of house were very helpful, did there best and kindly didn't charge us for the roast.
We have eaten there in the past and the food was fine then, hopefully this is a temporary glitch and the White Swan will return to it's previous standards soon.
Very enjoyable evening for a dinner with friends. The food and drink was good value and the service was attentive without being intrusive.
