We had the 5 course tasting menu....great food, great wine , great service. Say no more.
Excellent venue, great food, very good reserve Rioja.
Lots of Spanish food and mostly very good, but Tapas selection seemed less authentic. Hale main and orange cheesecake Dessert were exceptional
Third time we have eaten at The Wife of Bath since it has been restyled as a tapas restaurant. We used to dine there years ago when it had different owners. It now looks chic & modern with very stylish soft ( Farrow & Ball?) grey walls.
We know we will always have a excellent meal at The Wife of Bath & love Spanish food. There was plenty of choice for us on the A la Carte menu....my husband is a fish eating vegetarian and I am gluten free. Our lunch was absolutely delicious!..the food was fresh, beautifully seasoned and well presented.
The staff/ team were welcoming & helpful and service was outstanding ...just like it was on our previous 2 visits.
We will return soon to try the other dishes. Thank you for a memorable meal!
Our food was excellent, the service was also of a high standard. We enjoyed our night.
This was my second visit here and this time we stayed in one of the cottages overnight.
It was a special occasion as I was proposing to my girlfriend and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us.
We loved every minute of our stay and the food was outstanding as well as really good service.
We will be coming back again for sure.
Repeat visit and not disappointed. Not a busy evening, but attentive and knowledgeable staff. Limited menu and wine list but sufficient for an interesting and enjoyable evening.
I booked this restaurant because my husband and I love going out for dinner, and we like eating really good food, but I don't eat a lot of meat or seafood, so usually tasting menu's don't work for us. But because there was a vegetarian tasting menu, I tried Wife of Bath.
The food was superb in both my vegetarian dishes and my husbands normal tasting menu dishes. The service was great and the restaurant isn't too formal. We stayed over in one of the rooms that was very comfortable and well appointed.
A great night out all round.
A couple of delicious extra nibbles were provided free of charge. These helped make it special.
The food was truly amazing, the staff were not intrusive nor did we feel at all rushed or hounded. the best thing though was that they didnt come to the table as you take a mouthful of food and then ask how it is!
Great service . Great food great wine .will book a room also next time
Food is ex excellent. The lighting needs to be a bit brighter.
Very tasty and well cooked rack of lamb for two, followed by a plum tarte tatin for two that went down very well. Quality cooking. A bit slow on service but made up for by gratis amuse bouches in between courses.
We all (6 of us) had the Tapas menu, which was extremely good value. The wines were included in the price of the meal and they were all excellent. The main menu offers a wider choice, with plenty of vegetarian options. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and the room is stylish and unpretentious. The Wife of Bath is well worth a visit. We will certainly be back.
The Spanish Sunday lunch was not Spanish. just because the roast potatoes had smoked paprika on them, does not make the dish Spanish.
The pork belly was undercooked, I could hardly cut it. in the end I give up and left it. The sweetcorn soup was lukewarm. My daughter would not eat her chicken because it had romesco smeared all over it ( this was a child's meal). My wife's chicken was very dry and tough.
Over all the cookery was very poor, I would expect more considering the cost. The service was minimal. I got the feeling that the staff did not value our custom. Not once did any member of staff do a check back on us. I got the feeling the place lacks leadership in the back and front of house. I would not return!
Food excellent, service brilliant, overall we liked it very much.
Thankyou guys/girls we had our aniversary there on Saturday and had a enjoyable experience
Did not understand our beef was that thick that required a increased rest/serve time, no criticism at all, loved it by us both and will be returning
Again a lovely experience. We were treated very well and the food was amazi g
First visit after a couple of years meaning to get round to it. Excellent service and very good food. Staff are very friendly and attentative. Very filling with a starter (crab for me) and a sharing steak to follow, this was exceptional. Of the three in the chain this is currently my new favourite after visiting the other two a number of times. Rocksalt moves to second with Duke william in at third (shame as DW is only 3 miles from me), however none are poor, based on value for money the wife is hands down. Enjoy..... :-)
My husband booked our meal on line as a special Birthday treat for me and he did state this on the booking, but there was nothing different it was just like going out for a normal meal.
The meal was delicious apart from the burnt toast with my starter which I mentioned, but didn’t get any feedback from the chef!!
We did not have a starter and had to wait a very long time for our meal, forty five minutes, but it was well worth the wait in the end. Superb meal and an exceptional dessert. Would definitely recommend and will revisit on our next trip to England.
Second visit for the Galician steak offer and not disappointed, very good meal and excellent service.
Small number of devices nets present, may be noisy if busy.
Food purporting to be Spanish - it was sort of Spanish-y but not clearly so. But nevertheless good. The service was very good, even to the point of the sous-chef coming into the restaurant to explain how the chocolate tart (which was to die for) was made, and writing out the recipe. The dining room is a calm French grey, tables fairly well-spaced so not on top of each other; a nice atmosphere.
excellent food and friendly efficient staff .well worth a visit
We have dined here before , and that's why we went back, the tapas starter to share and the steak was absolutely amazing, even got tempted to dessert. Very pleasant evening with great food, staff and ambience
Excellent food with great service will be coming again and bringing the family!
I booked this restaurant because of the reviews and that I have tried Rock Salt in Folkestone on both times I have been disappointed, our booking @ the wife of bath was for my wife's birthday and the only time available was 09.15, we were shown to our table and it seemed quite impressive, until we ordered our food the stake was not available, so went for our second choice of the lamb, there was a long delay after we had finished our starters, then finally the waiter arrived and said there was an issue with the quality of the lamb, we were then asked if there was anything else from the menu that we would like, asked for the paella but was told that this would take more time to cook, in the end we had the fish dish which was not to my partners liking, and as it was getting on in time felt like that you were rushed, as they were making up the tables around us for the next day, as a token they took the drinks of the bill, but this was a special occasion and would have liked to enjoy the food that they were advertising and this occasion.
would try again, but would ask before sitting that everything is on the menu and get an earlier sitting.
this may have been an off night, but did not help the cause.
Overall a very nice meal for my wife and I on a birthday occasion. My wife's first and main courses were very good. My main course was excellent but first course poor (crab); I love crab but don't often find it on a menu; in this case the crab was totally overwhelmed by the topping/mix which was a shame - couldn't find any crab flavour at all. We didn't have dessert largely because we simply couldn't manage it.
Ambience unfortunately wasn't helped by a large party having a celebratory meal. Noise was an issue. The restaurant doesn't have any real furnishings eg carpeting that might help lessen the problem a little, but it would certainly have helped had they sat us in the other half of the restaurant; guess we were just unlucky.
Loved this place. Not pretentious in any way. Great food cooked immaculately and the matching wine complimented each dish perfectly. Service was great - warm, relaxed and very welcoming - but not over the top. Value for money was exceptional and the rooms are stylish and contemporary without trying too hard. Breakfast is simply outstanding! Wye is a beautiful village in Kent where you can get away from the madness of London. Can't recommend this place highly enough.
This has become a regular for us. We had the set lunch menu which was superb and excellent value.
One of the best value lunches I have had, we had the Tapas special, six Tapas dishes and a carafe of house wine and went for the cheese board with another glass of the excellent house white, the meal included an amuse bouche and a wonderful Blackcurrent Sorbet with crumble and sweet treats with the bill, all for £55 with excellent service, look forward to returning soon
I have eaten here often and never been disappointed. The set lunch is exceptional value in terms of price and quality. The choices are always original and thoughtful. The service is efficient without being intrusive. The atmosphere and ambiance is natural and relaxed. Thoroughly recommended (as indeed I have as many times as possible on Trip Advisor!)
we drove nearly an hour to the restaurant and Im so very pleased we did. Service, food, atmosphere all outstanding. We will return.
Food & staff were excellent, first visit but will return
Superb food, great service! Beautiful restaurant and bar. Lovely atmosphere
Food was fantastic and an excellent table service as well. Felt very special having dinner here.
Very good. Tasting menu was wonderful. Helpful staff highly recommended. Many thanks will be back
We cycled to the Wife of Bath and stayed in a clean, comfortable and extremely quiet room, in the cottage close to the main buildings. A secure area was available for our biked over night. Complimentary sherry and snacks were provided in our room. The evening meal was one of the best we have had in a long time, and the attention of the staff was spot on, not overbearing.
The following morning cooked Full Spanish breakfast was a total delight, and set us up for the days cycle ride.
