Fantastic food. Been here a few times. Staff are lovely and professional
Fantastic food and service. Will be returning!. We stayed over too - lovely room although pillows could be better. Overall fantastic.
Great staff and the food was fantastic! Overall a wonderful stay and meal.
Our waitress was kind and very informative , and we didnt feel rushed or pressured. The quality of food was excellent, but a limited choice.
Would love to have cooking lessons there
We were a party of 4 for Sunday lunch venturing out to a restaurant for first time since March. Our initial concerns for safety were immediately banished on arrival. The tables were appropriately spaced, the staff wore masks and the toilets were reassuringly clean and limited to one person at a time. Hand gel was available at several strategic locations and its use politely encouraged.
We chose 3 courses from the a la carte menu - there was no Prix Fixe on offer - and we all enjoyed our choices. Service was attentive but unpretentious and better for that.
Lovely food, good service. What more do you want? Good selection of drinks to chose from. The menu was superb and we thoroughly enjoyed all three courses.
No acknowledgement of our special occasion (My wife’s Birthday)..
But it was great to get out, food was fantastic.. a great evening was had by all!
This will be the fourth time we have eaten here, the first was excellent and we were excited to repeat the experience.
I am really sorry to say that the last three visits have not been good.
Each time the food has let the experience down–I must add here that the waitresses are always lovely–but I just cannot recommend the restaurant, as lovely as most the staff are and the environment is.
The menu prices vs quality do not hold up against near by establishments charging similar, with our starters at £14 and our main £22, we were expecting quality, and although the starter was nice, it was not worthy of the price tag, and sadly the main had us deciding this would be the last visit... pork belly with a soft uncrackled skin (which equated to a layer of not particularly well seasoned fat) with a sprinkling of seasoned popcorn. Yes, you did read that right.
So surprised was I by the tasteless popcorn topping that I read the menu listing again (to check I'd not gone mad, as I would not have ordered such a creation) and the popcorn was not mentioned, leaving me assuming it was a afterthought to address the problem skin.
I only managed half (quite the record for me) and politely informed a male waiter who cleared the plates why I had left it "I'm sorry but I didn't enjoy this for these reasons, just some feedback for the kitchen"... sadly his response "OK." didn't fill me with confidence any such feedback would make the slightest bit of difference, and the non-forthcoming offer of perhaps a free drink to lessen the blow of only eating half my main, or some other such gesture, or perhaps even "I'm very sorry to hear that, and thank you for the feedback it will be passed across" would have been nice.
So, a good £190 meal for two? Sorry, no.
Had a lovely meal on Friday...big fan of mark sergeant so wanted to visit this one...had purchased a voucher for the tasting menu but a la Carte was the only menu....didn’t matter as food was excellent . Lovely service and we had a room upgrade too ! What’s not to like !!
Always an exceptional meal. Friendly and attentive staff, but not to imposing. Lovely venue. Not my first time there and certainly wont be my last!
Fantastic food and great organisation regarding the Covid-19 regulations 😄
Delicious food and great service. Good to be back!
Fantastic to be back at the Wife of Bath after lockdown. Fantastic food and service as always. Can’t wait until our next visit!
Very well organised for Covid safety.
Felt very safe. Food amazing as always
Excellent service and food, as always. It was great to go back!
We wanted our first meal out to be special, especially as it was our wedding anniversary, and the Wife of Bath did not disappoint. The service was excellent, friendly yet not obtrusive and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant had worked hard to create a safe yet still pleasant dining experience. Thank you for a lovely night out.
We sat down at 7pm so not the busy period. Service was attentive, professional and friendly. Food was very good from a varied menu. The wine and champagne excellent. We are local so will of course visit again.
The food was great, service great, ambiance too stark and lacked warmth. Main courses quite pricey.
Incredible food & exceptional service. Our waitress was information, attentive & knowledgeable. The food was absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to return.....except next time I’ll have the tasting menu with wine pairing as that looks delicious.
enjoyed a lovely three course lunch where each course was a delight to look at and eat!
Real attention to detail and pleasant , relaxed service and ambiance.
The dining room is a delight, in the charming village of Wye. Service was meticulous. The wine list is thoughtful and not over-priced and our chosen Rhone was superb.
However, the 'Sunday menu' was totally the wrong choice for this excellent Spanish-themed restaurant, which we value and have been to many times before, though not on a Sunday.
Thin slices of perfectly roast sirloin, crispy roast King Edward potatoes, Yorkshire pudding cooked in the meat juices around the bone . . . it was definitely not! The cauliflower in a blue-cheese sauce was very good, as was the carrot soup - all beautifully presented and served. The panacotta dessert was lovely but not the semi-raw rhubarb with it.
Go to the Wife of Bath for its wonderful, imaginative tapas, but never on a Sunday!
We did the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the wine had been carefully curated to balance out all of the flavours.
Highly highly recommend.
Met some friends, arrived 12.30, left 4ish - food was great and wine exceptional. Oz Shiraz.
Can’t wait to be able to go again.
Excellent cuisine and thoughtful service. Sufficiently different and interesting menu. Not rushed and good space between tables for privacy. Friendly but professional. Not cheap but fair value.
The meal was good quality and it is a very nice place. It’s not cheap - our meal cost us north of £60 each - but bog standard meals in a pub in the area can cost £30 and leave you feeling you could have cooked better staying at home. This meal I definitely could not have cooked at home.
The staff where very accommodating and friendly, I have a milk intolerance and they made sure they said everything on the menu that I could have all the way down to dessert and what they would recommend and nothing was ever too much. the food was amazing, the halibet was absolutely incredible. the atmosphere was relaxed but beautifully decorated. Have recommended to family already.
Best food in the area, perfect service. Absolutely love it :-)
The tasting menu was really lovely with a wide range of food and flavours. The service was great and we could not fault it; really helpful and friendly team. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Staff really lovely, welcoming professional, knowledgeable, and very smiley. Atmosphere relaxed and lovely surroundings. The food was presented really nicely we enjoyed the starter and main but the clematis gataux although looked exquisite did not taste of clematine at all, it looked as though it would be lemony but on taste as a bit of a disappointment. But other than that lovely lunch thank you
This is my 2nd visit. We had a lovely time and the food was delicious although not as good as my visit at the beginning of December. Our waitress was wonderful and provided a top class service. The passion fruit souffle was out of this world, the pork belly was average.
I would still highly recommend. £120 for lunch for 3, no wine.
Fantastic food, great service.
Looked after very well but party had variable comments on the food and value thereof rating generally at 7 out of 10. Probably would not return.
We met our friends for lunch, the food, service was good. My friend banged his head in the gentlemen toilets which slightly marred the occasion. Signs were in place on the second beam, but was easily missed.
Despite Mother Nature cutting the power off a few times the Chef managed to keep everything going / well done! Beautiful plates of food and excellent service. Well done team.
We were given a voucher for Christmas to visit this wonderful restaurant. Decided to book for valentines evening - it was a perfect choice!
From the moment we entered the restaurant to leaving it was 1st class. We both had the 5 course taster menu - one being vegetarian. Food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were all amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning very soon!
Lovely surroundings, excellent service and the meal was superb.
My friend and I enjoyed our lunch at the Wife of Bath. Your staff were forgiving about our late arrival, occasioned by problems with parking. We came by separate vehicles and we both found the car park full. Surprising as the restaurant was not. The space is very tight and we both found it more difficult to leave, than enter (as indeed did the person in front of me). If this is normal, then guests should be advised to park in Wye Village, rather than as the restaurant.
We chose the menu of the day, and the food was excellent, washed down by a nice dry Prosecco. The poached Hake was particularly memorable.
Service was attentive, but not unduly so. The background music was slightly intrusive, at this volume, I would have preferred Mozart or Telemann.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and will certainly return when another special occasion beckons.
Always great food and great service. So hard to choose from the menu as I always want every dish but what ever you choose is creative and well done.
The food was excellent, the service was attentive but not over. It was busy yet intermit. We will be returning.
very nice quality restaurant. good food, ambience and service. would not put anyone off going there for a special occasion
