Amazing time. Food and service was top notch !
But the coffee was not great ! Shame to finish such a great lunch on such a bad note !
I have eaten at the Wigmore before and really enjoyed the bustling atmosphere and the nice menu. And it didn't disappoint this time - I had the cauliflower cheese and and rhubarb desert which were delicious. The bar was full; great experience and attentive & pleasant staff. Will definitely come back.
The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, as well as being able to accommodate a last minute addition of two diners to our party. The service was quick and the food excellent and the only thing that prevents five stars across the board is that the cheese to finish was served cold. I realise that there are food storage regulations but cheese cannot be fully enjoyed if it's not at room temperature so next time I will order the cheese board, which was an excellent selection by the way, at the start of the meal to allow it to warm through prior to eating.
I have been meaning to pop in for a while so the chance to treat a colleague before she leaves became a good excuse. I love the pub feel! The staff were friendly and helpful but not over you all the time (the perfect balance). The bar snacks looked amazing but I went for the steak sandwich: just brilliant. A good cut, cooked just as I asked, a nice portion size. And the beer: proper! I will try to visit now and again as a treat to myself!
Beautiful decor. Lovely welcome. Original and delicious food .
We had a lovely, relaxed meal in superb surroundings.
There were some errors (c.£50)on the bill which I wouldn't mention normally but am disappointed that our waitress questioned our query on the bill.
Despite this, we a great afternoon and we would definitely return.
The diabolical weather meant that there were not many people about when we arrived and we need not have booked a table. We enjoyed a splendid casual Saturday lunch and tried as many things as we could from the food and drink menu. Service was very friendly, knowledgeable and prompt.
I was unable to resist the call of “Shaky Pete’s Ginger Brew” described as a “Hoptail”, or Shandy, which included gin – fantastic, I wish I had had a pint. My other half had a “Carol Channing”, a variation on a Kir Royal – also delicious.
The crab crumpets and Masala spiced Scotch Egg were small and beautifly formed and just as good as other reviewers have said they were.
For my mains I had Butter Poached Cod with Monks Beard (my new favourite vegetable) and my wife had the Cauliflower Cheese and Cauliflower bahji, which she said was also perfect.
To wash this down we decided that a bottle would be too much so ordered a 50cl carafe of Rose, which was so good we immediately ordered another. Since we had run out of food, we ordered a plate of cheese to share.
The meal was rounded off with a treacle tart and a “Walnut whip” of soft serve ice cream, walnuts and marshmallow and coffees.
A great lunch and well worth our special trip up to London for it.
Authentic peace and calm in the very centre of London. Quick service and traditional dishes with a twist.
Out in London for the theatre and wanted some great food before the show. At first glance the menu looked like it had few options but everything sounded tempting and had food envy for every plate that came to the table that meant we started to plan when we could come again to try the other dishes.
The Wigmore is a great pub and a real gem for the Oxford Circus area.
ok. Polite and pleasant service, though somewhat chaotic....the starters arrived with the main course. Ambiance lacking because it was a quiet lunchtime. The food was nice but not special
gorgeous pub, centrally located and amazing pumpkin dish - just please put some more veggie dishes on the menu!
Service was slow but it was good. The venue is lovely, I would like to try it in the evening as I only went for a lunch.
Previously I was critical of the service but the staff now seem up to the high standards of the food. Given this is next door to my office I can see this being a regular joint for me.
As it's close to Christmas, we were given a table in the back on very low but comfortable chairs. The bar food was lovely - we had the steak roll and the sardines as a starter size. Nice wine, great service and lovely atmosphere including the fire alarm going off!! Will definitely go back....
My second visit here, and although essentially a pub, a very good food offering, affordable and tasty. Service super and friendly. I had come as a business lunch and for a late lunch with family. I would recommend for a meal.
We had a lovely lunch, we had the toasted cheese sandwich, which was so good and the fat chips, sticky toffee pudding, and a carafe of wine, very enjoyable lunch.
Great service firstly, on arrival slight mix up over similar name to a large party dining but soon sorted & located away from noise in the most comfortable chairs possible.
Good selection of drink and an even bigger selection of food.
Staff were wonderful and already looking forward to returning.
Once inside it could be deemed an all day pub...........
We went to the Wigmore for my mother's birthday lunch and had a lovely time. We were seated in the side room which had a lovely relaxing atmosphere and a beautiful christmas tree. Great menu to choose from, unfortunately we couldn't try it all! What we did have though was excellent. The mains were a good size too and filling. Lunch service was busy, so it was a little slow at times to try to get the waiter's attention, but that didn't bother us. Would definitely come again.
We were a table of 7 and whiled away our Friday with the delicious bar snacks (aswell as main meals) and cocktails. Would highly recommend the scotch eggs, the chips and the espresso Martini's! Definitely a good place to escape the cold and the crowds for a drink and some chips.
Rather unfortunately the pub had a heating problem so both we and our food were cold. Great shame as was a celebratory lunch. Service as always was fantastic.
Second visit as my office is next door. Really like the menu though the total price seems to stack up!
Food is very good and the design of the restaurant is great looking.
However the service is rather hit and miss as it was on the first visit. Some of the staff friendly (but by means not all) but they all need to be more on it especially at lunchtime when we are all watching the clock.
had a great time, classy and vibrant. recommand the fish, the bloody mary chips, the champagne and beer and also great wine list. Very loud but very fun!
Food was fantastic. Service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. Will definitely be going back there.
First time visit to this place at the back of the Langham.... what a treat. Went with a work colleague for a business meeting - were made very comfortable, food was excellent (chicken pie and the spicy cauliflower kedgeree). Wine list was plentiful on by-the-glass wines.
Staff were helpful and attentive. Will definitely go back - what a gem!
The Wigmore is a very slick operation. There was a warm welcome and a table in one of the many opulent rooms. The feel here is relaxed with a very tempting menu of twists on standard Pub classics. We had a 2 person Lasagne made with Rabbit, Veal and fresh Cep mushrooms - and despite being a bit messy to divide out (rather generous portion in a too-small pot) was a triumph of autumnal flavour, together with a tasty mustard dressed crisp salad and perfect chips with tomatoey salt - it was a very very good lunch. Splendid cocktails and good-value wine. All in one of the best rooms in London.
Devils on horseback, scotch egg, mussels and burger all totally scrummy. Bloody Mary chips were amazing. Very friendly service. Did request some mayo which didn't arrive and mussels need a spoon for the broth.
met my wife here for lunch and we had a lovely meal, we both had the excellent chicken pie which was accompanied by smooth buttery mash. Really tasty and served pipping hot. This is a real cut above the usual fayre you get in pubs but then this does have a bit of Roux stardust added to the mix. Tho follow I had a very nice lemon sponge pudding and my wife had some spiced rice pudding, both great desserts. The back room in particular is very cosy. The "pub" bar itself is pukka so you can have a nice drink or grab a bite. The cost is very reasonable. This is a really strong new opening for the West End.
Food was excellent - fish perfectly cooked and delicious. The roast chicken - divine!! Crispy skin and succulent, bursting with flavour, on a bed of potatoes, onion and bread to soak up the sauce.
Sponge and custard great, cheese toasty as described, can't go wrong.
Service and atmosphere, top notch.
A unique "fine pub" dining experience with innovative twists on British classics as a highlight. Definitely worth checking out!
