Had a nice dinner with my husband. Our meals (the crab cake & the short ribs) were really good. Enjoyed some chianti with my dinner. The people serving us were very attentive. We went to support one of our favorite local restaurant.
Absolutely Excellent! Had the shrimp appetizer and the crab cake - both were A+.
Really enjoyed our dinner. Our server, Danielle, did a great job. Food was delicious - We went on a Friday & it was billed as fish Friday so my husband & I both had a fish entrée, shared a salad & had the bread pudding for dessert. The bread pudding was so, so good.
Birthday lunch. Friend is skinny and not an eater, so she had a delicious a la carte soup and ate nearly an entire baguette (she is picky and loves bread so it must have been wonderful bread!). I had a super delicious, healthy $22 lunch prix fixe lunch. Yummy.
Traveling down from Baltimore to Fairfax, it was a very relaxing place for my first date. Really sets the mood with a good hint of ambiance. Definitely a place for a good date night !
Recommend you add drapes to block the night lights from outside to improve ambiance.
Wonderful place! Amazing food and wine! Really great service!
Food was fabulous, as always. But the bourbon bread pudding was over the top!
We dined at two pm on a Saturday. It was very nice. It was quiet except for the tastings at the bar. They were not too loud or distracting to our afternoon date. I had the ahi tuna. It was very good. We had the cheese plate. Excellent. And our wine choices we're good too. We will go back for lunch and free tastings.
Excellent food and service, Thursday Steak night made for a great early Valentine’s Day dinner.
I had reservation but hostess not very friendly. She was happy when I asked for a specific table that was not reserved.
Enjoyed the night out. Great selection of wines. Nice variety of food selections. Will go back soon.
First time here and we really enjoyed our night. Amazing food coupled with great selection of very reasonably priced wine. The staff really knew about their wines and it was a unique touch being able to browse for a bottle on the shelves...
The place is nice and the service is fine, but the food wasn't very good. I ordered the Steak Frites which was quite fatty not cooked the way I requested it. The beet/feta cheese salad I requested instead of the fries, was three pieces of beet and a couple of sprinkles of feta - too simple/basic. I wouldn't go back for dinner, but I will go for drinks and snacks.
Great service. Great recommendation on wine with a very accurate description of the taste and how it would pair with our dinner selection. Definitely go back
Great! Enjoyed the wine and cheese plate!
I brought my friend here for brunch on her birthday. Brunch with endless mimosas is a steal - great food and service!
Very nice 3 course lunch. Smoked salmon appetizer and asparagus soup were both delicious. Shrimp main dish and chipotle tuna were well prepared. Tiramisu was creamy yummy and the chocolate dessert was super chocolatey.
Our server Theresa was delightful & very patient with our group of 4 trying to decide on menu items. We enjoyed the cheese plate, beet salad(yum) as apps. Crab cake/, beef Bourgogne & salmon entrees. All well prepared & delicious. All plates were cleaned off. We also enjoyed a great priced Altos Malbec. Paired well with all items. A lovely night was enjoyed. Thank you
The food is always good . . which is why I keep going back!
We were there during restaurant week. Excellent food and wine, and great service. The sommelier recommended a fantastic wine off the shelf (not on the printed menu) that was delicious and well priced. Be sure to inquire about wines beyond what's on the menu as they have lots to choose from. They did give our table away despite half of our party checking in on time and the full party arriving 5 minutes later. But they figured it out quickly and got us seated. Beyond that, I highly recommend it.
Fantastic place! Food was vey good and the Service exceptional. Great ambiance.
We were there for the Restaurant week menu. $35 for 3 course meal. The waiter assisted us with pairing each course. It was very pleasant.
Great food,exceptional service!
We met 2 of our friends here. This is one of our go to restaurants that's not far from where we live. Our dinner was excellent this night. For the first time we had the cheese plate appetizer which we were all able to share. My husband's scallops could not have been better. I had the short ribs which is one of my favorites & the meat just fell apart. This is a great place to meet a few friends.
We had a lovely New Year’s Eve at the wine house. The amuse Bouche was not good but I think they ran out and we got the back up plan - salmon on Crostini. Main courses were great - lamb, scallops and filets.
Creme brûlée was lumpy but the complimentary bubbly rose was good! Nice place for a good enough meal on a fun night.
There were 4 of us & we all enjoyed our dinners. Plus the service was very, very good. I had the crab cake & my husband had the short ribs. The 4 of us then shared the chocolate cake. I'd definitely recommend meeting friends here.
Had the winter tasting and wine pairing, phenomenal. The only thing was the dessert left something to be desired a bit.
One of my favorite local eateries, definitely recommend.
Meal, service excellent as always. The menu has expanded and the quality was outstanding.
Cozy, friendly and yummy. This is one of the top tier restaurants in all Fairfax County, perfect for a date. Braised short rib and Beef Burgundy taste like they were made in a fine Paris Bistro. My wife loves the crab cake and the salmon. As expected the wine list is high end but reasonably priced. This place is on our very short list of favorites.
Had not heard of the Wine House previously and decided to give it a try for our anniversary. It was a great experience. We both did the tasting dinner and enjoyed it thoroughly. We both had the Duck Confit main course and it was superb. Between us for the other courses we sampled squash soup, Salmon Tapas, New Zealand Lamb Lollipops, Crème Caramel, and Flourless Chocolate Terrine. There were no disappointments. All of the wines that accompanied each dish were very tasty. If I had to nitpick I would have paired a more robust wine with the Lamb Lollipops than the white blend. The wine itself was good, just didn't pair with the food as nicely as the others did.
The service was paced nicely and the server very pleasant.
As an added bonus the location is also a wine shop so we picked up a Christmas gift and a bottle for later. Very convenient!
Date night with my husband. Danielle was a great server. Wine & food were delicious.
One of the best wine bars in Northern Virginia — great wines, food and service.
The December tasting menu with wine pairing is excellent
Most food items were very flavorful and delicious. We felt things were quite heavily salted though, especially the frites. Service very friendly. Wine-sommeliers selection was excellent. Tiramisu very nice.
Always a perfect experience. Excellent food. Great wine. Beautiful and relaxed atmosphere
We are reminded what a great restaurant the Wine House is everytime we go. Seafood dishes are well prepared and delicious. The wine list is well chosen and per glass prices are very reasonable. We will continue to support this local family run restaurant.
The Wine House is, first and foremost, a wine house. The priority is the selling of wine, with a small number of tables and a bar wedged into the floorspace. With that said, the staff did their best to accommodate and the food and wine selections were above par. The lamb was delicious, the vegetable were well spiced and not soft -- everyone enjoyed their meals, though everyone wished their was more on their plate for the price. It was a crabcake, not crabcakes for an entree, two lamb ribs for an entree, you get the idea. We would go again, but probably stop somewhere first for appetizers.
