Amazing! Had the best Sunday lunch here. Would 100% recommend 🙂
Second time we visited for Sunday lunch. We were so impressed fist time around, I enquired about Christmas Day lunch! However, second time was quite different.... Two of us had the 'award winning' fish and chips which were far from award winning, no taste and batter soggy, one had the nut roast, which on first time was really tasty however second time around served room temperature as were the side veggies to go with it and veggie gravy had no taste. Gammon Sunday lunch was ok, poor cut of meat served which was a shame. Service was fine, a bit swift for our liking, the restaurant was really busy and it seemed like they wanted us all to just eat and run, this is what we did as our bill and card machine were presented on the table. A real shame as I don't think we will be returning. On a positive note there are plenty of staff around who all seem really helpful and polite.
Lovely meal, nice setting, would definitely recommend for a Sunday lunch
We visited for my boyfriends birthday after hearing good things, we definitely weren’t disappointed from arriving to leaving it was 5 star. Service was brilliant and quick everyone was nice, friendly and always around if you needed anything. The food was out of this world and they even put a candle in my boyfriends dessert and sang happy birthday to him. Will definitely be back and recommending to everyone.
Fantastic night, excellent food and service. Five star well deserved !
Excellent meal, lovely pub, staff really nice. Highly recommend the Sunday lunch
Great service from the waitress and waiter, food very good quality and cooked to perfection . Everything was extremely tasty and piping hot.
Lovely catch up meal with a friend. Service great - recommended the gammon by the waitress as I couldn't decide and together with the calamari started made a lovely (and large!) meal. Friend (who struggles with what she is able to eat) also thoroughly enjoyed her mushroom and lemon risotto and king prawn starter. Wine served at the right temperature too! Even though busy there was still the correct amount of attention given. Not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for here.
First visit for many years and the night was a great experience. The food was excellent and a special mention to Kate? who was a great host for our table. Great service.
Beautiful food, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere just a little pricey for some things
Lovely atmosphere, accommodating staff overall great place!
Food was fantastic and the service was brilliant.Thankyou.
My second visit here with my family as I live in the North West. Fabulous food and friendly staff.
Excellent food, service and ambience, can't ask for much more than that
Very busy restaurant for Sunday lunch food was nice service was as to be expected on a busy Sunday staff friendly and helpful
Excellent service and beautiful food! Will definitely be back!
I’ve been here a few times now and it’s always been great but Sunday was different. The food and service was great but we had just about finished our mains and it looked like they were setting up for a very large family coming in, but they didn’t leave much room between us and them, which meant we had to move round our table. But they had to get a high chair which meant chairs going over our heads. People deciding where they would like to be seated and who they wanted to be sat next to.
They were quite loud but they had kids with them which is understandable but we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. People with us couldn’t wait to leave.
Best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. It was simply amazing.
One of the best Sunday Dinners i have had! Would 100% go back!
Visited for my birthday and were sat in the beautiful shed which gave the perfect intimate meal. The Sunday roasts are the best in the north east and perfect for big appetites and liberal gravy users!
Lovely tasty food excellent staff drinks expensive but not a big drinker will be back can’t fault it more expensive than most but very nice tasty food well presented
Sunday lunch and first visit to the Woodmans in a very long time. Staff were very helpful and professional and courteous. Food was delicious a selection of the Sunday roasts for us all and one fish and chips. We are all going to return very soon.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Would have loved mash potato though. Service is fantastic with super friendly staff
food wasn't great, expected more as some of the dishes are 'award winning'
service wasn't great, had to keep trying to catch people to get a drink, incorrect orders came out. I have been before and the service was terrible and thought it may of just been a one off. It wasn't.
Food was amazing and definitely recommend the Gin Trees. Thanks we will be back :0)
Restaurant was busy so had to wait for our table but it was worth the wait. Food fantastic and service great. The staff were efficient and pleasant. Would highly recommend.
Went for Sunday lunch I chose the beef it was delicious you got loads of veg and it was all hot and extra gravy
Staff were very efficient they work extremely hard as they never stop
Food was very good, considerably over staffed but service was very poor. A waitress started clearing the table when not all had finished.
Great night at the Woodman’s with friends. The service was 10/10 helpful, attentive, made recommendations, made sure we had everything we needed superb! Food was great and so much we couldn’t eat it all. Great place with great ideas. Really good vibe. Will definitely return.
Having been here on a number of occasions I knew the food was good, booked a table for 9 for a special occasion,th table was set for 8 and another chair had to be added, there was not enough room for 9,the next large table behind us could not get there chairs out very easily,it appears that they are trying to cram too many people in,it was uncomfortable.the food was good as usual.
Three of us had roast beef Sunday lunch, one lamb shoulder. Meat was very well cooked very tender. Vegetables were quite hard, greens were fine, carrot & parsnip not so good. Sweets good, ginger sponge, cheesecake & lemon bake well all very tasty. Overall meal was enjoyable, service excellent and ambiance good. Would return and recommend.
It would be nice to have a menu for smaller meals as there is far too much on the plate and this causes a lot of waste.
This is the second time I have dined here for Sunday lunch and I wouldn’t go anywhere else now. The food is out of this world and the meat just falls to pieces on the plate. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to my self and my party considering one isn’t in good health at the moment. Wonderful place, good atmosphere and definitely the best Sunday dinner in the north east, very satisfied and pleased.
First visit but definitely not the last!
It was a real fantastic evening, great staff and the food was cracking. Highly recommended.
Thanks for a great evening
Excellent food, really nice venue. We will definitely be back. It’s not the cheapest but quality never is cheap!
Love the pub decor , and the combinations of the different foods ,and the pizza oven .
Such a lovely place to eat staff are so polite and friendly
Best sunday dinner ive had from a restaurant/pub in a LONG time! Staff were so friendly on the bar, and the waiting staff were very polite and pleasent. Will definitly recommend. Thank you c
Overall good. Food good, service slow but was a busy afternoon.
We booked for 8 people for Sunday lunch. The food was spot on, generous portions and cater for gluten free. The staff were great, really helpful. Only one blip. When we arrived there were queues to park so we were 14 minutes late. The table we booked was given away so we had to wait 20 minutes for another. Having said that, the staff were lovely and got us sorted asap and we were given complementary garlic breads. Sunday's seem extremely busy and the staff were rushed off their feet and yet they were all so helpful and food came promptly and was delicious. I would definitely recommend.
