Everything was good but it was a little cold until the fire got going. It could have been lit earlier

Food was amazing!
Only slight disappointment was for my mums birthday and I had happy birthday candles and 10 sparklers. Apparently there was a mishap and the happy birthday candles had melted down quite a lot and all sparklers ruined before getting to the table..

Excellent overall, only slight downside to the Sunday roast was the beef was a little on the fatty side for me and the Yorkshire puddings were overdone, but again, this probably personal taste. Very enjoyable evening had by all. Lovely surroundings and staff fab xxxx

The Sunday dinner was amazing!! But we went for an evening meal and they had ran out of multiple of the additional sides!! So we were a little gutted! I'd say have enough of the better sides to last all day.. Although to be fair it was such a generous portion that if we had actually had them we definitely couldn't have managed the desserts!! We'll definitely go back!! And we'll definitely go earlier!!
Also have had the Fish and Chips here before and they were well deserving of their award! Absolutely unreal!! I love that this little gem is so close!!

Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our leg of lamb in that it was very fatty and chewy. We told a member of staff who resolved the issue for us by getting us the lamb shoulder instead which was delicious. It did however take a while for the issue to be resolved.

Brilliant pub, decked out in the best Xmas decorations I have seen. Staff were really helpful and attentive and our food was spot on. First time we have been, and will definitely be back!

The place was cold all night, they had a problem with the heating and people were sitting in coats, no attempt made to get the log burner going. Everyone in the party who had the Christmas fare did well, the prawn cocktail and turkey were lovely. The rest of the party ordered the award winning fish and chips, very small portion and we couldnt see how it could have win awards. The restaurant ran out of tomato sauce??? What a joke. Young unexperienced staff, no one asked how the meals were and when we ordered wine, it was left with the top on and we struggled to open it. Lovely place but some work needs to be done to improve service and fish and chips.

Beautiful setting, amazing decor and they really go the extra mile at The Woodmans. Food was delicious as always and I went with a friend who is vegetarian and she was amazed at the choice. Back next week for another one of many visits! Great service, value for money and always tasty.

We loved the woodmans went every week for a while but then felt it went down hill so stopped going. However thought we would give it another go but the dinner was cold and the roasties were very stale as if they were from the day before tasteless. The service is good staff very attentive. Shame about food wont be going back now.

The guy, I'm assuming the manager, waistcoat on, looking really sharp, was awesome, we were there as a family celebrating my dad's 60th Birthday, with a 5yr old and boisterous 4 Yr old, the environment was gorgeous all decorated so helpful, all the staff were canny and helpful really pleasant. The manager guy was just so accommodating, we had balloon decor and table confetti, brought our own gluten free cake and allowed us to eat it, bringing us plates and cutlery, even helping to light the candles and bringing the cake to the table! Great service, we really enjoyed our visit and the food was awesome.... Well done!! Only thing was once my dad walked in he was gutted he didn't see santa!! Gorgeous decor!

The food was amazing, we got 2 king prawn 🍤 starters and 2 fillet steaks. The prawns were tasty, the fillet steak was cooked to perfection and the home made chips were bang on. Would definitely go back and will be telling my family and friends. The staff were all lovely and the service was very quick. 5 out of 5 from me and my partner.

The Woodmans clearly is the place for Sunday lunch, book early to get a table, you won’t be disappointed. The awards and recognition it has received are well deserved.

The building, decor and ambiance were fabulous. Shown to our seat promptly. The waiting staff were great and polite but the general service of food was really slow. Took 30 minutes for desserts to arrive: Ice cream and profiteroles. Husband had the "award winning" fish and chips and was thoroughly disappointed. Found batter greasy and undercooked. The pizza looked nice but wasn't great. Vegetarian lasagne was full of red pepper and courgette but lacked pasta. It just all tasted a bit bland. The sweet potato chips were lovely. I won't be going back for food, but nice enough for drinks.

The food was superb, promptly served and well presented. Unfortunately it felt as though we were in a kids creche and the noise levels at times were unbearable.

Visit quiet often as excellent food and pleasant surroundings. Maybe the background music could be a bit quieter or preferably off completely, I have hearing problems and the music just adds to my difficulties. Of course that’s my personal perspective others may be fine with it.

We booked for 15:30 thinking it would be quieter, it wasn’t, very busy when we were ordering & asking for sauces/gravy/drinks etc, but overall a good service polite friendly & professional. The food was good, we had the lamb shoulder, the chicken & the gammon, all was fine, but disappointed with four measly bits of cauliflower cheese in a watery cheese sauce for £2.75, overall a nice meal & definitely worth going back again. But maybe try to avoid the busy times.

We have eaten several times & have enjoyed the meals. Our only criticism was the meat wasn't as tender as we have had it before but the restaurant was very busy & obviously the kitchen was trying to get meals out as fast as possible. We are looking forward to our christmas fayre meal on 6th December

Food always superb. Highly recommend. Although on this occasion the parsnips and carrots were really large and could have done with being smaller and cooked more throughly. It didn’t spoil it as still lovely food but just instead of 10/10 I would give it 8/10 for that reason. Other times have never been a problem and always spot on. Will still be back though.

My wife and I visited The Woodmans Arms for the first time last Thursday evening. We were so impressed with the surroundings, the menu, quality of the food and friendliness of the staff, that we took my stepmother there the following day for lunch. My wife was very impressed with the fish pie and my pizza was excellent too.

Very busy at 4.00 Sunday lunch, had
to wait for 10 minutes for our table
even though we arrived on time.
Food was good quality and plentiful
however noise level was very high
due to the number of diners and very
loud music.
Probably won’t do Sunday lunch again
but will visit at quieter time

Second time we visited for Sunday lunch. We were so impressed fist time around, I enquired about Christmas Day lunch! However, second time was quite different.... Two of us had the 'award winning' fish and chips which were far from award winning, no taste and batter soggy, one had the nut roast, which on first time was really tasty however second time around served room temperature as were the side veggies to go with it and veggie gravy had no taste. Gammon Sunday lunch was ok, poor cut of meat served which was a shame. Service was fine, a bit swift for our liking, the restaurant was really busy and it seemed like they wanted us all to just eat and run, this is what we did as our bill and card machine were presented on the table. A real shame as I don't think we will be returning. On a positive note there are plenty of staff around who all seem really helpful and polite.
