Scallop, Salmon and Smoked Cod Fish Pie
Topped with buttered spinach and a smoked cheese mash, served with steamed greens
Poor service took far too long. Food was cold. Did not get charged for mains due to this.
Food and service was amazing !! It’s the first time we’ve been and will definitely go back !!
Our visit was to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very polite and looked after us extremely well. The meal was well presented and came very quickly to our table. We all enjoyed the meal very much, compliments to the chef. The staff sang happy birthday 🎂 as they brought in the cake that we had supplied. A very memorable visit and one we shall repeat at a later date. Thank you very much.
Pleasant staff. Good service. Lovely food as always. Would recommend.
Our first visit at the Woodmans but we will definitely be back. Food very good & the staff were friendly & helpful. The pub was traditional with a quirky feel.
Well worth a visit.
Had Sunday dinner and was beautiful,
especially the roast carrots and parsnip
Booked last minute, was fantastic, front of house host was amazing, will be coming back
Warm friendly welcome. Lovely atmosphere. Delicious food.
Interaction with the General Manager was genuinely friendly. Helpful and warm.
Service was extremely slow, took nearly an hour for starters and 20 minutes for a drink. We had to chase a lot for our meals. Once arrived food was AMAZING! Would visit again, we visited a Saturday so I would suggest to avoid busy nights!
Lovely food, great service. Would always recommend it to anyone who asks where to find good food. Very cosy too, indoor and outdoor seating available and bar dining also.
Food was really good but the service was not the greatest. Every time we needed drinks or their service we had to get up from the table and get a member of staffs attention. But definitely cannot complain about the food.
We were booked for 8 and got seated at the bar as they were not ready for us to be seated for food.
We were sat for food by 8:15 and the waitress was very apologetic and we completely understood the delay. We were offered a couple of free drinks just for our wait! Thanks so much! Lovely food and lovely staff. Was worth the trip from Newcastle. Will be back
I got the mother clucker burger, delicious, couldn't eat it all, hubby got the steak! Great food in a lovely setting!
We visit the Woodmans on a regular basis, the food and service is excellent.
I find the drinks are on the expensive side but all in all good value for money.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. I have been here before and their standards are always consistent.
Service was brilliant, staff including our server Chloe were very attentive. Food was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Staff so friendly and attentive, food amazing and outside space lovely and relaxing
The food is good quality and good value, the staff are excellent, the price of drink is expensive, £5.15 for a pint of ale that costs £3-£3.30 in pubs in the local area. I can understand some mark up on the drinks but not an extra £2 per pint. Go there for the meal, drink somewhere else.
Fantastic food, highly recommend that steak leak and Guinness pie. The staropramen beer on draught goes down an absolute treat as well!
Really enjoyed it here. First visit and will defiantly be back again.
Fantastic venue the food was out of this world and the service from the staff was second to none. It was our wedding anniversary and they did not disappoint in making special
Good menu and food cooked excellently. Good surroundings woth friendly service
We went here for a celebration meal as a family. We were placed in a booth area which was beautiful. The service and food were both outstanding. I would definitely recommend and will return.
Excellent visit with lovely food and great service. We intend to visit again on our next visit.
Chicken dry and not succulent, roast sirloin of beef described as pink on menu, no sign of pinkness. Mashed suede very scant. Vegetables small portions appeared warmed up and not cooked fresh. Yorkshire’s poor. Not a reflection on the last time there in March 2020. Accommodation excellent (table outside). 3 different people served us
Food was lovely and staff very good - only spoiled a bit Bt a screaming child at next table which no one could help
Had the Thai Green curry which was nice, others had pizza. Service was ok.
I just found the crab gratin a bit salty
Might just be my taste
Travelled quite far to come here after seeing pics on Instagram and it was well worth it! Lovely place, lovely settings, lovely staff and lovely food. 10 out of 10 for everything
food delicious and decent portions
Lovely food, brilliant staff. Highly recommend this place
So accommodating even though we were late (out of our control) lovely food and great service.
Been here 3 times in the last week lol, cannot fault. Food, staff & service is just brilliant. Would highly recommend!
Beautiful venue. Lovely food. Excellent service. Outside dining looked lovely and would love to revisit to eat there again however I am glad I had booked a table inside as is close to farm land where farmers had just sprayed. Smell was very unpleasant as we arrived to the venue. Thankfully it wasn’t noticeable inside. Other than that it was an awesome experience with friends. Will be back (not in farming season however)
Very poor service we had to ask for the desert menu three times then had to wait for a very long time for the desert’s to arrive. Being disabled I had the unfortunate experience of using the disabled toilet. The toilet is also used as a baby changing room. The bins were overflowing with dirty nappies and used sanitary towels and dirty nappies were littered around the toilet. The smell was intolerable. I’m certainly pleased that I didn’t use the toilet before my meal. I don’t think that I could recommend this place to anyone.
Best Sunday dinner in a long time. Beef brisket was lovely and desert was to die for. Great experience.
We have eaten at The Woodmans many time over the last 3-4 and have never had a bad experience until today. Our booking was for 3pm and the restaurant did not appear to be particularly busy with lots of staff hovering about.
My wife is a vegetarian and has a gluten intolerance and preferred the nut roast as it stated on the menu that this could be made as a gluten free meal. When asked if this could be done we were told that the items that have gluten would just be removed from the plate, with nothing to replace it…but for the same price. After agreeing to just bring the meal, it arrived a minute later. The main plates arrived and the Yorkshire puddings were cold as was the nut roast on two of the meals ordered. We pointed this out to the waitress who just apologised and walked away. The rest of the meal(seasoned vegetables) arrived a few minutes later and were also cold. At no point during our meal did anyone check to see if our food was ok or if we wanted any extra drinks etc. When we did ask for more drinks they took a long time to arrive at the table. When we had finished and our plates were cleared we were then asked how it was and we explained again that lots of it was cold, with a token apology and no explanation or management intervention. We continued to order dessert which was actually very nice and enjoyed very much.
Overall this was a very disappointing experience, which is a shame as we had been looking forward to it for a while. The service and the little extras that made the Woodmans special in the past, seem to have disappeared. Regrettably it’s unlikely that we will be back after such disappointment.
Good value meals nice setting and friendly staff on hand
From walking in to leaving the service was really good and staff was welcoming . Food was quick and beautiful highly recommended
Lovely looking forward to going back
