Average food, asked the waiter to call me a taxi .... and he wrote down a number for me to call it myself!
Very good! Imogen looked after us very well.
Things started badly as our booking was not on their system but a table was available. Service was prompt, efficient and polite. Menu choice was quite extensive for lunchtime. Drinks and food were delivered in good time and were well presented and of good quality.
This was my second visit and as on the previous occasion the service was not great. They seem to have a problem hiring. Food is neither good nor bad. Would hesitate to return unless I hear that the service has improved. Otherwise the pub is well located with good parking. Having a large restaurant does encourage some noisy groups.
I’m a regular at the Woolpack but the Sunday roast was a big disappointment. Very small portion, hardly any vegetables, not enough gravy, no offer of any condiments. I had to ask for gravy and mustard...the chap at the next table was asking for more beef...it was definitely not worth £17.50!
Cant complain about quality of food , however service was not great
1) Slow to take order
2) Asked for another soft drink ... still waiting never arrived
3) 2 coffees and 1 tea arrived all separate - I'd almost finished my coffee before the tea arrived
4) Acknowledged I'd requested my bill, took a further 5 minutes plus to come across with the terminal to pay
It was not a case f not enough staff, ,my opinion maybe too many and none knew what each other was doing or meant to be doing - organised chaos
We had a really relaxed, evening with good food and service. Plenty of parking and easy location. Great atmosphere, would recommend and go again
Food is ok but service was very slow
We enjoyed our meal at the Woolpack. It took a long time for the restaurant to tell us that we couldn't use our Dining Cheque but otherwise a good time had by all.
The Woolpack get everything right. Great menu, comfortable seating, lovely atmosphere and the food is very good.
With a couple of minor improvements in food quality and service this would merit a five star review.
Lovely Sunday Roast, never been disappointed with meals here.
Our go to local restaurant to take friends and family. Always enjoy a good meal, reasonably priced changing menu and very pleasant setting.
Been to woolpack for a few years now but stopped for a while as service was slow. Now under new management and it's great. Staff friendly food fantastic
Lovely evening with hubby where food really tasty even though steaks were over cooked from what we ordered. Service better than on our last visit. Ate off set date night menu which included cocktails- very nice!
There were clearly a lot of Christmas parties in when we visited, but the staff were able to cope with the large number of diners.
The food was somewhat high on quantity with less attention to quality. The interior of the pub looked really nice & perhaps I would have come away with a warmer feel for the place at a quieter time of year
Really lovely food and atmosphere. The only thing that let the evening down was that at 11pm we were handed the bill without asking for it. Slightly disappointing as the food was great!
We love coming here as it is local and its interior is great. However service is always what disappoints. The staff are friendly, but lacking hospitality skills. Firstly they didn't use a tray to bring the drinks to the table. Next our waiter forgot about us and I had to go over to him so that we could order. Once drinks were finished with glasses weren't cleared but left with the new drinks. But the food was great as always which is why we always comes back.
Overall good however the green tea at the end of the meal utterly spoilt it. It was far too strong, had been allowed to stew for too long and was extremely bitter, leaving an appalling after-taste that ruined the meal, it left a nasty bitterness on the tongue for a few hours after. Did report this to be told the message would be passed on, there was little apology or offer to replace it. Moral of this tale: do not order the green tea!
The outside dining area is very good and nicely presented inside is clean and well presented. The service leaves a lot to be desired when you walk in no staff at bar all congregated at one till hard to get served, service is on the slow side not down to customer numbers more to do with staff not keeping on top of it.
Service was awful. Food was bad. No atmosphere. Slow service. Really expensive.
As usual a great restaurant but surprising they had run out of many ingredients - on a Saturday evening! Couldn't somebody have run to Tesco to get some more broccoli? And we asked for a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and were given a bottle or Romanian...it was fine but that's not the point!
