Hadn't realised that it's part of a luxury retirement village, so it's a bit tricky to find - we were the only people there, but it's a really nice place with great outdoor seating, delicious food and absolutely brilliant service.
Three Church Road is a hidden gem. It’s quiet, charming, has interesting decor. However, the food doesn’t match the description. My entree was Luke warm and quite small for the price. I was still hungry after my meal. Service was slow and the place was empty. I’d give it a second chance and try afternoon tea.
Felt a little let down to be honest, unbeknownst to myself the restaurant is based in a retirement village although it is very nice. We booked for Mother’s Day which was sold to us as a Jazz Lunch - this turned out to be a CD playing and nothing more. The buffet style was nice and a good selection of starters however, the roast lamb was barely warm and there were a lack of vegetables.

We were there for Valentine's day. Such a nice environment.
We decided to try this place despite a few dodgy reviews - it was quite hard to find and the entrance once we did find it was quite confusing, however we were greeted by a nice lady on reception and shown through to the restaurant, There was a wedding going on in the next room and the traffic to and from this room (staff and guests) made us feel like we were dining in the corridor.
The carpet in our dining area wasn’t very clean with food debris in various places.
Our waitress was Alice, she was very pleasant and friendly and also trained and professional.We ordered starters of scallops - which was ok and a crab tartlet which was very nice but not sure it was homemade?
For mains I had the plaice and my other half the steak - mine came and was extremely high end looking with flowers and tubes but.... the plaice was over cooked and dry, the brown/black purée on the plate was genuinely unidentifiable and gritty - the only part I enjoyed was the deep fried capersThe steak came with two small tomato halves a mountain of lambs lettuce and a small basket of chips - once you took the additional sauce boat off the plate it looked quite sad - the steak tasted like it had been sous vide cooked and then flash fried.For desert we had chocolate mousse with honeycomb - it came really quickly, was extremely cold but decorated nicely again with flowers.
However, the honeycomb has obviously been put into the mousse before refrigerating and it was all soft and sticky.
On top of that - during our main course the wedding finished and we then had a procession of staff and guests in and out of our dining area for coats, belongings, thank you’s and finally lots of loud chat from the staff about how great their first wedding had been - we then had various off duty staff loitering at the bar chatting.
They then starting dragging the function chairs across the room to a storage area and the door was opened and it was extremely breezy where we sat.
Alice was great but it wasn’t enough
Restaurant had not checked and weren’t aware of our booking, couldn’t find the location as non existent signage, had to ask at a retirement home for directions to discover it was part of the complex, staff uninterested and no other diners on a Saturday night

Ultimately disappointing. An attractive menu but somehow managed to disappoint in every course. A surprising bland starter followed by blade of beef with black garlic mash, kale and pancetta. Under seasoned beef, no flavour of garlic, and one beef came with the string still on. Chocolate fondant was served far too quickly which mean it had been pre cooked - over cooked -so no melting centre and very chewy. No mention of the string on the side of he plate or the pudding half left for the waitress.
With more quality in the kitchen this could be a lovely restaurant but at the moment, not up to scratch.
