Three Eight Four
Food was extremely slow to arrive, although it is a tapas style restaurant we were not warned the food would arrive as and when it was ready so as a group of 4 we ended up with very mismatched meal and eating times. The padron peppers were raw and cold when they finally arrived and the steak arrived cold after over an hour wait and asking staff multiple times why it was taking so long. Staff were helpful in resolving the issues but overall a disappointing experience. In addition to this, despite booking we were on an extremely small table for a party of 4. Given the fact the dishes were not served together, this was not an issue, but if our food had arrived timely this would have been a problem. The table was for drinks, not an evening meal. Would definitely not recommend going on a Friday/Saturday night, the kitchen/staff clearly can not cope with the demand.
Hi Becky, Thanks for taking the time to feedback to us. I'm really sorry about your experience. I've spoken to the GM firstname.lastname@example.org m I would be keen to get this resolved for you.
Lovely food & good service. But the music was very loud so it was hard to hear & the table for 2 was so small that there wasn’t enough space for our food & drinks. Plus the tables are placed too close together.
The restaurant opens at 6pm for service, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and the music was great! The food is brought to your table as it is ready. Tapas on a small two seater table with complimentary mint water and drinks is a little tricky though. Unexpected gem in the heart of Brixton.
Came here with a couple of friends to catch up on a Sunday and enjoy the bottomless brunch, we all had the Huevos Rotos which was very tasty and filling! Just what we needed :) I thought it was great value also with the bubbles on top! which were flowing! the staff weren't stingy with that at all and they were very friendly - would go again !
I made sure to book a table in advance so that we’re seated on a Friday evening. We got there and there were two nice tables with “reserved” signs on them but no! They’re for other people whose reservations were 15 mins later, so we were taken downstairs to sit.... the room was deserted, walls barely painted and a couple of tables and chairs thrown in, NO music, strong smell of mold and humidity... we said no. They took us back upstairs, and when i asked why we’re not sitting on the “reserved” tables they said these were for people who have yet to come (why not us?!). They ended up asking people to get off the bar so we could sit there (awkward). The music and noise were too loud. We had to shout to hear each other, as if we were in a club. I’m fine with that but not at a restaurant where you go to have dinner and chat. The one good thing was the food was nice, although the chips were cold. Rest was tasteful.... and the prices were reasonable.
Great cocktails and a varied menu with plenty of choice.
Great happy hour cocktails and lovely service.
The online menu implies the tapas options are available all day, but we were only allowed the limited brunch menu that was even more limited for a vegetarian diner.
Last minute booking but food and drink were superb, will be returning
Seated promptly - then given about 2 mins to decide on food - but then gave us a few more after we said we weren’t ready and then our order was taken quickly. However It took 35 mins to get us our drinks - the person behind the bar making the drinks looked bored/ seemed to not be doing much despite a very busy restaurant with many drinks orders to fill. Even after the server said to him about our drinks it took another 10 mins to give us the coffee which was only in a filter jug ready to pour. However - the food was delicious and I will be back because of the value for money, tasty food and nice servers. The food took ages to arrive too however it is a small place and was incredibly busy with orders all going in at once.
Service a little slow but food & cocktails amazing especially chocolate espresso martini
Hmm, we should have listened to the other reviewers. Food was fine but service is a joke. They didn't have a record of our Opentable booking when we arrived - always a worrying sign but fine, they had a table free. We then waited over an hour for food after ordering. Had to ask four times if it was coming as we genuinely thought they must have forgotten to put the order through. Each time the guys seemed very uninterested, said they'd find out what was taking so long but then never came back to the table with an update. That made the whole experience a bit stressful rather than chilled and fun, which is ultimately what you're paying for when you go out to eat. When we got it, the food was nice but not amazing- ie not worth the wait/stress ;)
Good cocktails, unusual tapas selection - a fun place to start an evening.
Service for food was a little slow but it was busy! Nonetheless a great little restaurant with fab cocktails and delicious food, will be back!
Great cocktails and small plates for a fun Friday night with friends. Music was great and the service was decent when it got busy. Didn't feel rushed off our table, but we did keep buying Ryan Gosling cocktails!
The service was poor and slow. It basically felt like no one wanted to do their job and when asked were very rude. The food was beyond basic and boring. They brought us raw beef we had to send back and clearly have no idea what bruschetta is as we ordered it and a salad and it was the salad served on soggy bread. So basically we ordered two of the same thing.... I have no idea why this restaurant is rated so highly. I was embarrassed to bring my family here for a dinner out
Cool ambience, service is outstanding with a side of good humour and food is incredible at an excellent price! Highly recommended for your lazy boozy brunch with your mates.
Good atmosphere and yummy food but the cocktails can be hit or miss. That Sid 2-4-1 deal on cocktails during the week is a bargain!
Pancakes and french toast for breakfast. Yum!
Lovely stuff, thanks for the great brisket and even better cocktails!
Had a lovely time catching up with friends at 384 last week. My partner and I had been before and our friends agreed with us that it's a lively and bijou little place with unique decor and genuinely nice staff. We all ordered food and some of us had cocktails while others had wine and we were all pleased with quality of everything and charm of service. Will happily go back for moree of the same!
Really enjoyed this tapas style restaurant in trendy Brixton! Service was very fast and friendly! Loved everything I ordered - favourites in this order:
1. Chimichurri Steak
2. Courgette Fritters
3. Crispy Avocado Wontons
Would highly recommend and will definitely go back again!
Food was tasty & reasonably priced. The cocktails were the best bit. Great value & really creative. The restaurant is A bit small & dark, so reading the menu was tricky...& it was cold. It will be worth trying again in the Summer.
I decided to try Three Eight Four for dinner on Sunday 13 November after enjoying cocktails there on previous occasions. I'm not sure I would go back for dinner. The food was well cooked, though a little on the pretentious side and the portions are very small - even for tapas. But it was tasty. The service could have been more attentive. However, I want to like this place. Maybe I should give it another go. Best you try for yourself to make up your own mind! Food aside, it's currently one of the best places for cocktails in Brixton.
Fun, lively place. Delicious food and drinks. Really funky.
Really great food, lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff who helped us with some very specific dietary requirements!
Friendly, reasonably priced venue. Nice atmosphere.
It was a monday and pretty busy for a monday. They had run out of fries and the pulled beef. Another friend who had been before said they ran out of the steak too. The staff we dealt with were really lovely though. I can imagine it would be a different experience when it's busy. Food was tasty though.
