For more than 15 years, Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen in Winter Park has been an award-winning New Orleans restaurant, family-owned by New Orleans natives and featured on Food Network. I had a little bit of a experience last night. I have invited my retiring manager alone with 8 more colleague to a dinner at this place because I knew she will love it. Well reservation was for 6:30 pm we all gather around 10 minute before and we let the Hoste know we were there; not table was reserved or it was giving to someone else; 7:40 passed we still don’t have a table. They were offering to sit around the bar but this was not a hang out with friends some of the guesses won’t sit on or near the bar. What was more of a disappointment was the attitude of the guy trying to “accommodate us” he seems more upset than what we would have been; we can read the faces of everyone and how they were avoiding us after this mess; the guy keeps saying it’s not his fault however we stayed calms and used the time to talk and catch up; but this lack of ownership of the situation was seen by all of us. We understood; if the table was giving to someone Else is fine nothing we can do about it; but in situation like this the minimum expectation is to have options for your guesses. Food was good as expected; they offered complementary appetizers for the wait but a simple apology as we were leaving could have been more satisfying. That was not a good example of what hospitality could looks like in this environment.
