Toby Carvery - Badgers Mount
Always good value. Staff very helpful. It was very quiet this time.
All round good experience. Food excellent. Service with a smile. Very reasonable.
Very enjoyable meal throughly enjoyed would recommend good value for money
The reviews for this Toby were not great however we thought we'd still go and were rewarded for our perseverance. Good food and the biggest meat portions ever. Lovely staff in spite of the place being really rather busy. As good as any of the the other Toby's we've visited so please ignore the bad reviews and just go.
Very good value for money.Took my 89 year old father for his birthday lunch
Lack of vegetables, potatoes available, having to ask for fresh, lack of staff only one chief serving far too much for one to do to cut the meat and restock.
Have been to many Toby Carverys always been pleased, but your restaurant surpassed the rest, from the moment we arrived having booked on line we were looked after, your staff were very attentive. The choice of food was excellent and very tasty, your Carvery meats were of a good standard, throughly enjoyed by our party. The restaurant was extremely busy being the schools half term, which did make it very noisy at times, the waitress coped well under pressure, well done . We shall certainly sing your praises and return in the near future. Thank you.
We have been visiting this eatery for a number of years, looking forward to each occasion.
In view of the foregoing are able to track trends , both actual and perceived. These include the state of the toilets, particularly the gents which include very worn and dirty paintwork.
There is also a perceived reduction in waiting staff judged by a longer than previously experienced interval between stages after finishing our main Carvery course. I am sure we are not the only people who, after finishing the meal are anxious to pay the bill and get out to the fresh air and stretch our legs.
More lights are needed out side at night.it feels unsafe and I was frightened.
Overall tops for us
The restaurant is tired, run down and in need of a good clean. Service was ok, staff polite enough, but rather slow. Drinks took forever to arrive. Had to wait quite a while to be served at the carvery. The man serving was saying all the right things but sounded like a robot, especially when you have heard him say exactly the same thing to 15 people before you. We were also seated near there, so had the same script repeated throughout our meal. It is enough to drive you crazy. Food was average at best. Meat rather tasteless, potatoes were good, and vegetables were a bit mushy and bland. There was no English mustard and horseradish not enough for one person and was not replaced while we were there.
A disappointing visit and one we will not repeat.
Food was cool only had hot food once or twice in yrs of giving it another try due to my likening to eat meat. This time 5 min wait thus Evan cooler food as no roast potatoes no carrots broccoli not fresh yellow spots on it coliflowr hard not cooked meat ok ,Garvey ok.
Would find it difficult to recommend. Sorry. Can only tell it as found
Most enjoyable mid week
Lunch with friends. Pleasant surroundings, easy parking, pleasant staff and hot food with choices of meats and veg.
Always book a table tho, as it's a very popular restaurant!
Contrary to previous experience this visit was a disaster. The veg was cold or non existent. The chef did not want to know. The sweets we ordered, two arrived, the other two were served when they were finished. It will be a long time before we go again.
Badgers Mount Toby is really looking tired and a bit more attention to keeping surfaces wiped down is required especially around food serving areas. Probably it's required to have two people at the serving area instead of the one who was working very hard to keep up with constant meat carving. It would be nice when booking to choose a table as the one our friends and I were offered were not acceptable so we were moved. Predinner drinkswere a disaster as the beer that was poured was off and had to be returned to the bar to be replaced. It was the worst gin and tonic I've ever had...the only tonic on offer is slimline Britvic and considering how popular it is every where to drink Gin and Tonic one would think there would be more choice on offer.
Always enjoyable and good value for money, good choice of vegetables and the staff friendly
On arrival the restaurant was nearly empty but was disappointed having to wait some time before the manager who was serving at the bar came to show us to our table, there were two more groups waiting behind us. It was the first time our friends have visited a Toby and they were surprised at our "welcome". but the food was good and our waitress was friendly and informative, at one stage the manager was also serving food, but also seemed to be over stretched.
On visiting the ladies toilet my partner found out there was no toilet paper, we told members of the staff but nothing was done. Our friends were impressed with the food and its value.
Always enjoyable and good value for money. Waitresses very attentive and friendly.
Food as always was very good - the meat especially ( I had the beef) although I thought the choice of vegetables could be better especially at this time of year. Still excellent value though.
The place is very nice my only disappointment was that the mashed and roast potatoes were pretty cold as was most of the vegetables also the apple sauce had run out and wasn't replaced. I don't know if this was because of the time of day but it was
1300 hrs so expected the food to be hot. It might help if there were some microwave ovens we could use. There was nothing wrong with the quality of the food just the temperature of it.
Good food loved by all the family esp the carvery.great place for family get togethers to enjoy a roast at brilliant price
The service and food were excellent, the vegetables looked fresh and the meat was tasty
