Toby Carvery - Roborough
Popular local carvery with a wide age range. Some tables a little cramped.
Open table booking had not been sent to the Toby got there and no booking in system from open table- not impressed.
Thursday 20th July was my wedding anniversary, after 43 years it is perhaps not a great deal, but never the less we decided to have a meal at our local Toby carvery, it is close, convenient, and though the food is not great it is acceptable(for what-ever reason the cauliflower cheese is always under-cooked and always lacking in cheese(.
In order to secure a table, I used the on-line booking service to secure a table for 1830hrs, this was immediately confirmed so myself and my wife duly appeared at 1815hrs to have our evening meal to be told that there was no record of our booking(when I returned home I checked and the booking was as I said confirmed), as my booking did not appear on the system at The George, we did not have a table, and were tole that we would then have to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated.
Having waited in the bar area for 35 minutes, we then decided to eat at our bar, and having paid at the bar collected our food and did just that.(The cauliflower was of the usual rubbish standard with negative cheese)!
Overall a disappointing experience for our anniversary, if you are running a booking service then it needs to be efficient.
The couple behind us at the checking in desk had a similar experience, having booked on line there was no record of them doing that, they left, and no doubt went elsewhere for their evening meal.
