If not including dinner during greenwich restaurant week, you should be transpa
My chair was dirty when we arrived at the table. The bread served was hard. We had to request sharing plates for our appetizers after they had been sitting on the table for a few minutes. NONE of the food was fresh made, everything was frozen product or dried pasta(not home made as stated in the menu). Though service was friendly most of the staff stood around talking in the dinning room not being very attentive to customers. Not planning on being back anytime soon unless the standards of the townhouse are raised significantly
Visited the recently opened Townhouse for Greenwich Restaurant Week for lunch. Excellent sample of the menu choices. Everything was fresh and flavors that complemented. Great food.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very much enjoyed our meal and overall experience.
Terribly disappointing. Not one thing from my dining experience here will ever make me come back. From my appetizer to my entrée, I found the food to be detestable and unsavory. The service was tremendously slow. I had to ask someone twice to send over our waiter to take drink orders for my table. At the end of our meal, I then had to ask someone again to send our waiter over for dessert menus. To top off our unpleasant evening here, the valet situation is absurd and unlike any place I've ever been. When you initially arrive to the restaurant, you pull up at the front and walk through the front entrance. Then at the end of the night you are left confused walking in circles through the entire restaurant and down the hall to the back to retrieve your vehicle... Rule of thumb, The place you come in from should always be the same place you walk out. I've never seen anything like it & I will not be returning. I do not recommend, there are much better restaurants in town than this...
Lovely, classic space with food and drinks to match. Much more low key than what was there prior and that’s truly refreshing. What Greenwich has been missing! Our meal was delicious and the wine list outstanding. Also love the wines offered by the glass.
Townhouse is a nice addition to the Greenwich dining scene. Not much seems changed from Gabrielle’s decor but that’s fine. We love the atmosphere-just right lighting and noise level, comfy seats and space between tables so you don’t feel like you’re on a double date with the people at the table next to you. The service was attentive and the food was superb-much tastier than even the better restaurants in the area.
We just have two concerns. First, though the taste of the food really was above and beyond, the selections on the menu were the same as every other local upscale place. We would hope in the future to see some more inventive options-nothing crazy, just a few dishes that every other chef isn’t making. Second, we found the exiting process to be a bit awkward. We entered by the front door and our coats were there. When we left, we went up front to get our coats and expected to leave by the front door. Instead, we were told that we had to march back again through the entire restaurant to the rear to pick up our car. We found Gabrielle’s process of coming and going through the back much smoother.
Excellent all around. Will definitely go back.
Emily was an absolute doll - everything was fabulous!
We went to Townhouse for lunch and will now go there regularly. We really enjoyed it. It was very quiet--although I don't think many people know they're open for lunch yet since the previous restaurant in that spot wasn't. We sat in the bar. Everything we ordered was wonderful. Meat was cooked to the perfect temperature, special requests were met with a smile and prepared well. I'm not keen on having honey and sweet sauces on my food unless it's dessert, so requested the brussel sprouts to just be steamed. They were perfect. This was our second time there. My only suggestion would be to request sauces on the side. I had requested that for my burger--and perhaps they serve burgers with sauces on the side anyway--but would have been disappointed if the bacon/onion sauce had been on the burger because it was smoked and the whole burger would have tasted closer to smoked BBQ. In other words, there tend to be a lot of flavors going on in their offerings, so it would be important to read the ingredients. My husband loves a bunch of flavors--I, not so much. I was also there for a charity event and the service and food were wonderful, so would recommend it for a party or event, too. Oh, and one other thing--be careful about cocktails. Some seem to be made with pre-mixes--at least mine was, and it was acknowledge that it was. I find that odd for a reasonably high end restaurant in the area. had to send it back for only fresh ingredients, which they accommodated, and it was perfect.
Beautiful interior. Good service. Octopus was off putting. Not worth the money.
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Everyone was extremely nice and the ambiance was lovely.
Excellent food. The new decor looks very nice and modern. Excellent job well done
Excellent food and service. Had the fillet which was done perfectly. Definitely will be back.
food underwhelming, which was surprising.
not a lot of flavor and items tasted like they were frozen/plastic taste
both extra share plates they gave us had a ton of fingerprints on them.
still needs some attention to get the ship righted.
Very good, Staff was great. Enjoyed the Meal very much
The Townhouse has potential but I think they still need to improve a lot of things...especially the service. First of all, the menu is not large and I found it strange that they offered no daily specials. The one chicken dish on the menu gives you a thigh and a wing which is very odd considering a lot of people don't eat those parts and want a breast..myself included....so a hard pass on that! The 2 salads and 2 fish entrees we got were flavorful and well prepared. Frustrating however were the brown pieces of lettuce that I had to pull out and which the kitchen should have seen...attention to detail! Waitress was MiA a lot of the time so luckily they had busboys and a guy that attended to our bottle of wine to help out. Waitress also got our bottle of wine wrong but the wine guy sorted that too. Overall I hope they resolve the service issues and the attention to detail because the food was actually very good. The space is nice but very loud.
I came here for dinner the other night excited to see all the renovations and changes they made since the relaunch. However, from the moment I walked in, I was just absolutely appalled how they completely ruined what used to be a beautiful restaurant. I have spent my entire career over 15+ years in architecture and interior design and It’s evidently clear that the owners lacked to even use someone with expertise in my field. They tried going with a more modern approach which turned out to be more of a modern failure. The dining room is completely unbalanced. They have royal blue and gray chairs, gold beads along the walls and pink multicolored paintings which absolutely do not compliment the space. Another shock to me and my guests was the foyer in back. It used to be beautiful but they now painted it a dark gray which makes the space look so heavy and gloomy. Would of looked much better with a light neutral color since It doesn’t even match the floor or decor.
Given the poor interior changes, I was hopeful that the food and new menu would make up for it. To start, we ordered a couple appetizers the tuna was good but as for the meatballs, we didn’t like the flavor at all. I was in the mood for steak, so I had the filet for my entree which I have no complaints as it was prepared nicely! One of my guests had a fish entree and the others had pasta/raviolis and said it was mediocre at best. I had such high hopes but to be honest the place is a major step down from what it used to be. Besides my steak and service which was good, We were just expecting so much more overall...
What a great restaurant!
The people running this place knows what they’re doing.
The food was amazing.
The prices were on point.
The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious.
The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.
We started out as a party of two in the bar and at the last minute ended with a party of five.
Everything worked out perfectly thanks to the kind staff.
We travel all over the country and eat out very often.
This food is extremely well thought out and put together.
We ended up ordering a lot of food so we could all taste as much as possible, everything was great can’t complain about anything the favorites of our table were
Sea bass was excellent reminded us of UMI’s in Atlanta.
The ahi tuna wow!!! I wanted to order 4 more but there was so much to try. Maybe next time.
Lamb and beef meet balls, you have to try, delicious. Best meatballs and sauce I’ve ever had.
Porterhouse reminded me of peterlugers, fantastic.
We ordered five desserts, my favorites were the
Flourless chocolate cake. Mmmm
And the Creme brûlée. All were excellent.
I gave this review 5 stars. My first 5 star review.
This place deserves it.
We were told they just recently opened.
I hope this place does great and keeps up the fantastic quality and teamwork. The building itself is fantastic and decor is tastefully done. Very relaxing.
Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in CT.
Thanks again Townhouse!!!
I went to this restaurant last night with 4 other friends for the first time. We were so blown away! The food was absolutely delicious and packed with so much flavor! We just couldn't stop eating. Every bite exceeded our expectations. The plating was spot on as well. We had an abundance amount of assortment of food. It was difficult for us to have the dessert since we were so full, but we couldn't help ourselves. The chocolate, creme brulee, and churros were a big hit. The music wasn't loud as most places these days. We were able to have a regular conversation without yelling across the table. I travel a lot around the world and by far this is definitely one of my favorite upscale places. We will definitely be back.
Drinks were on the small side
This was a remake from Gabrielle’s which we’ve eaten at many times, and we felt this wasn’t much different fro the previous style, venue, price point, and menu. We liked the new design. The food was disappointing. My wife ordered the ravioli and it came in a soupy sauce, and the pasta was tough. It was clear that the raviolis were cooked too fast. I ordered a separate pasta dish which I thought was well done, so no complaint. Overall it was a let down. I appreciate the partners wanted to take the restaurant in a different direction from the previous Gabrilles but it fell short. It’s still too over priced and the menu basically looks the same. I live in the neighborhood and was hoping for a nice local restaurant which was could visit on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I feel that isn’t the case.
What a wonderful new addition to the many great restaurants Greenwich has to offer! The food was delicious, with a great and varied menu. Very reasonable wine list, which is sometimes hard to find in upscale restaurants. I can’t wait to go back!
Great ambiance and food. Love the redesign and will be going back often.
This local gem has not missed a beat! From managers to wait staff, ambiance and cuisine, absolutely the finest food in Greenwich!!
Came here last night for the opening and everything was wonderful! We were kindly welcomed at the front door by the hostess Kirsten, who was remarkably sweet and made us feel like family from the minute we walked in. We first grabbed drinks in the bar, where it was lively and had a great ambiance. We were then seated in the dining room for dinner. The waitstaff was very prompt and friendly. The food was excellent, I had a salad to start and the Chilean Sea Bass as my entree, which was cooked perfectly. We had such a wonderful experience and will be back again soon!
We dined on opening night and had a great experience. Bar was cozy with excellent cocktails. Service was smooth and helpful, especially Emily who made us feel at home. Chilean sea bass was perfect and the gelato dessert was just right. Valet service was courteous and quick. Definitely worth a visit!
