Prosciutto e Melone
Prosciutto di Parma with cantaloupe melon.
lovely meal on a perfect fall evening. This is a great place on the UWS for outdoor dining, tables are set back from the street and covered , spacious outdoor seating area allows for social distancing, access menu through your phone. Felt comfortable and safe. Simple basic Italian food was fresh and well prepared. service was friendly and casual.
The food was OK, nothing to get me to return, and nothing better than I can make at home. But when you don't want to cook or bother yourself this restaurant will do. What is needed however is a better attitude by the waitstaff. One doesn't get the impression that they are glad you came or that they are anxious to be of service. They don't go the extra step and even though they were wearing masks, they were definitely not smiling.
Our waiter was very warm and friendly, and made recommendations that were on point. This was my second time dining here, and I will continue to support this terrific neighborhood restaurant.
My husband and I love this wonderful Italian restaurant. The food is excellent as is the highly personal service. It is a regular destination for us.
Good food and service and tables far apart. It felt safe.
Trattoria is outstanding, and in this new Covid world, their outdoor setup is even more welcoming. The food is always terrific--consistently delicious, and the service is enthusiastic and cheerful. I recommend Trattoria to everyone.
The host/server put out a negative vibe that tainted the evening, and ended with trying to over charge us for one of the three bottles of wine we ordered.
We had a lovely dinner at a real neighborhood gem. The service was excellent and everything we ate was great! We look forward to returning!
Pre-pandemic, we (self, husband, teenage kids) used to come here every few weeks because it was in the neighborhood, the food was pretty good, the wine list better, and we could usually get a reservation (or just drop in) without much trouble . Under current conditions I like it even better! It has a fairly spacious outdoor dining area (by NYC standards), most of which is under a roof, providing some protection from rain. OK, from light rain. You wouldn't want to be there in a downpour. Also, it is the only restaurant on the block, so there aren't a lot of people sitting/standing/milling around without masks, which makes me nervous in other neighborhoods. The food is still pretty good, and the servers do their best under more challenging conditions. As long as the weather remains mild, we will return!
Nice spaced out outdoor dining. Food was ok not bad overall. Good service.
Both food and service were excellent. Have been working in the city for the past month and eaten at numerous outdoor restaurants. This was by far the most comfortable. All 4 of us had the summer cucumber and mango salad to start. I had the lamb chops with mushroom risotto and my companions all had one of the chicken dishes. We were all very pleased.
The outdoor seating was pleasant and the service was good. Three of us had the seafood pasta but varying amounts of seafood and sauce.
This place is getting it right! Covid precautions visibly in place. Tables spaciously situated, staff are masked and take is seriously (not masked with nose exposed, etc.), service and food were excellent. Had a fantastic dinner and evening out without worrying! Bravo! We’ll be back!
We went for my girlfriend's birthday dinner and were extremely disappointed. We arrived a little early (~15 mins) and instead of letting us know that the table wouldn't be ready until our reservation time, they just told us to wait on the side for a few minutes even though there were several open tables. We should have left at that point, since it only got worse. The service was terrible, we couldn't even get a refill on our water glasses after asking multiple times. To top it all off, the food had no flavor and reminded me why I've been preferring to cook at home instead of going out and supporting local businesses. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place unless you enjoy extremely mediocre food with atrocious service.
Trattoria is managing the inconveniences imposed by the pandemic quite well. The food was good and the servers were pleasant and responsive. We were there at Saturday brunch time, so it was busy. The atmosphere was cheerful and family-friendly.
Never disappoints! So happy they survived the shutdown and really appreciate all the safety measures they put in place.
Very pleasant. Food delivered well. Tasted very good, well prepared.
Food was good. Nice outdoor setting during COVID pandemic.
Doing a great job during the pandemic. Tables are spaced well, all servers are masked and gloved. Food reliable and tasty. So grateful for a place to go to and feel comfortable.
They made me feel like it was my own restaurant
Nice outdoor dining seating. Great food and great value. A fantastic neighborhood venue for brunch, lunch and dinner. Nice selection for vegetarians and pescatarians.
I would have given 4 stars to Il Gusto if the maître d’ had been more accommodating. We arrived on time for our reservation. The reservation had asked for a table under the awning, not out on the sidewalk. He had a table under, but said it was reserved for four. We noticed many other 4 tops with 2 people. He said if we waited there would be a table available as people were leaving. We waited 15 minutes for people to leave, and the table that was still empty sat there. Finally, we were seated, with a bit of attitude.
the food was very good. We were rushed through every course. Collection of dishes before we had finished, or questions as to whether we were. This pass by and swoop is annoying.
We ordered three courses and each had 2 glasses of wine. Our bill was $150+ tip. When we received the bill, the host came by and said that he needed the table. There was no one waiting. He was rude. I did not notice him rushing people out while we were waiting the 15 minutes. I get that they are trying to make up for loss of indoor seating, but this was a turnoff. We are out to help local businesses stay in business. They have to make us feel welcome. It’s a shame, but they lost our business.
Always a great meal for a neighborhood restaurant for us
Excellent food. Service was too fast. Very friendly staff
Attractive neighborhood spot. Always something on the menu for anyone.
Great neighborhood place.
Great restaurant. Personable and expert service
Great menu and reasonable prices
It's quickly become a neighborhood favorite! The food is excellent and the service is welcoming. The pasta's are delicious, salmon great, and there are always good specials. We had a stuffed chicken entree and a beet salad, both of which were very good. Give it a try!
Our favorite local Italian restaurant. It never disappoints. Delish food, very friendly staff, nice ambiance that's cozy in winter and lovely outdoor space in summer. We love it.
Incredibly delicious lunch. Went with an Italo-American friend—who cannot wait to return for another great meal!!!
My 1st time at Il Gusto. Great lunch specials! Chicken Marsala was delicious. Service was excellent.
This may become one of our neighborhood favorites - good food, good atmosphere and friendly service. We were there on a Monday evening, which may be quieter than others, but really enjoyed our meal. Salads were good, as was the baked clams. The salmon dish was very nice, as was the veal. We'll be back.
Excellent. Benny and Jorge are the best. Took care of everyone very well.
Lunch with Mom....when she’s happy then everyone is happy. Food and service were great. We’ll be back.
Delicious food, very good service, nice atmosphere. I will return! Thank you.
Love this place!!! Food is amazing and reasonably priced.
Well prepared classic Italian with some nuances making it worth the visit
Excellent restaurant with awesome food. This is my new go-to place.
We are regulars, as this restaurant is in our immediate neighborhood. We have never been disappointed.
