We were seated in the makeshift outdoor covered patio area, but we were not informed that this could happen when the reservation was confirmed. We were absolutely freezing the whole evening (it was 22 degrees out last night, and the heat lamp overhead didn’t do much for us). The server wasn’t very friendly, although I’m sure he’s had his share of rude customers during the pandemic, so I can’t say that I fault him too much for that. The food was delicious, but it was so hard to enjoy with freezing toes and cold noses. I strongly suggest that the restaurant indicate that this is one of the dining areas when they send the confirmation email.
Another fantastic dinner at Il Panino! Food and service was delightful!
It was soooo cold! We were seated outside in the tent covered area. There were outdoor heaters at the ceiling but we all had to keep our hats and coats on. I ordered a coffee to try to help get warm but my server forgot to bring it, then when I asked about it he brought me one to go then charged me for 2. Mistakes are forgivable and they cannot control the weather but they could offer free hot drinks and it would have gone a long way just to acknowledge at least how cold it was. The mushroom ravioli was the best thing we got. Everything else was fibe but not amazing. My son’s $42 ribeye came on a plastic cutting board with a small bowl of fries in the side. Overall, it was not the enjoyable family dinner I was hoping for and at $200 before tip without drinks it was not worth it. I think this area gets so inundated with tourists that they start to feel they are doing their guests a favor to let them eat there. That’s not the feeling I want to be left with. We wanted to eat at Bricco but couldn’t stay in town that late so we chose this place because they serve lunch. Now I’m wondering if I should keep dreaming of the day I can get to Bricco.
Sat in basement in back corner next to a door that workers kept opening and closing. Freezing cold air would hit us every time they opened the door. Food was good, average for the North End. Waiter wasn’t attentive, was probably spread thin.
Our dinner was excellent. We will definitely recommend to others and will return on our next visit to Boston!
We were sat at a postage stamp sized table in a small dining area next to the kitchen. We had to wear our jackets due to the constant opening of the entry door; allowing the frigid winter air to instantly chill the room. Waiter was pleasant, but the food lacked substance to justify the cost. We had a steak presented on a board with French fries. The raviolis were hard around the edges and no grated cheese was offered. The atmosphere and overall experience was disappointing.
The food is always delicious here. Great atmosphere and service. Good drinks. Good wine. Never a bad choose at Il Panino.
We were seated in an outdoor enclosed area. We saw a rat and asked to be moved inside after the waiter made it seem like no big deal. The food was ok, but there is better in the area. Overall, let down by the ambiance and food.
Our waiter was very nice, we have been here before and had a great experience but this time not so much. We got the clams over linguine and it was lacking flavor. Our salad was over dressed and very lemony. We won’t be heading back here anytime soon.
Wonderful atmosphere. We had the gnocchi and the lobster ravioli with crab sauce which was a vodka type pink sauce. Served in skillets do everything was super warm.
Great place to go in the North End. Homemade pasta was outstanding
I brought two work colleagues there and they absolutely loved it. I have been to Trattoria II Panino now 3-4 times and it has never disappointed.
Probably good for a night out with girlfriends but too loud for a romantic date night. Food came out quick and was good but the best part was our lovely waitress.
Pretty mediocre food for the price. Was expecting higher quality from a restaurant in this area.
Excellent food! Wish they had a dessert menu but the food was so good it didn’t matter!
Calamari was fantastic. Table ordered the Ravioli Porcini, Spaghetti Shrimp Scampi, and Ossobucco and everything was delicious!
Fantastic food and delicious cocktails. The espresso martinis were perfectly & expertly made!
Food was eh can get way better food at other places in north end for same amount of $
Calamari and pasta and lasagna were very good. Service was excellent
Very loud and busy as we got seated at the bar. Was looking for a nice quiet dinner with authentic Italian food and that was not the experience I got here.
Food is great, drinks are really goos and our server Tino is the Best! This is our favorite place to eat whenever we are in Boston for Dinner. We will always request Tino as he is the best.
Overall, the experience was really good! We went on NYE for an early dinner. We got seated on the lower level/basement. Really cool space, but I did notice some dust bunnies in the ceiling/vents. Since it’s a low basement ceiling, it’s not really something you want to notice above your food.
We started with the meatballs which were delicious and perfect to split between 2-4 people. Our food came out really quickly which was great, but our bread and plates were taken away without asking - even though we had a few bites left - to make room for the entree.
I had the spaghetti carbonara, my boyfriend had the chicken parm and both were delicious! Overall, great experience and would return!
Great food and service. Totally recommended
Amazing authentic Italian dishes in a rustic brick-walled setting. Wait staff is energetic and attentive. Food is absolutely fantastic, from the Zuccini Flower Appetizer, to the Penne Putanesca, to the rustic bread generously served for sopping up all that delicious, robust, rich and not too sweet red sauce! A friend recommended this lovely spot for lunch and I am passing on the recommendation!
Great food and cool spot. Espresso martinis, fresh mozzarella and meatballs, and Cacio e Pepe are to die for
We were seated without menus and had to ask for them. Food was excellent as usual. However it was very noisy.
Meal and service were great but we always feel rushed when we have dinner here. The music is loud and very fast paced, making you feel like you have to hurry through you meal.
Probably will not go back even though the food is fantastic.
Food was excellent!!
Better places close by but we went here on a whim. Fresh pasta was good but everything else was ok at most.
Eat at Trattoria Il Panino. And when you do, ask to be seated in Maria’s section. We’ve been going here for 20+ years and Maria makes a meal into an experience. She always welcomes us with open arms, is as quick witted as they come, and is always willing to offer unfettered advice on everything from food/drinks to life. The food is always delicious, serving size is just right and it’s a great value. Put this place on your list, I guarantee you’ll be back again & again.

Awesome! Food was great, staff awesome. Traveled in from Florida. Great experience. Awesome meal.
Great as always.
Service and food was excellent!!
Food and service are always outstanding! Music was a little loud, but we were able to converse still. Our waiter was phenomenal!
Loved the service, quality of the food, and the value. Given it was Xmas day, the place was packed! Ee were seated in the basement.very cozy, a bit noisy, but happy to have a seat, wine, great food, and a friendly server. We look forward to going back!
Great food, fast service.
This started out rough but ended up amazing! We were on time (maybe 3 minutes early) for a reservation. We were greeted well not really greeted…. but confronted by the hostess named Bella. Bella was a very unhappy young lady who obviously did not want to work and was sour to anybody who approached her. She offered us a table that was next to the bar and as close to the front door as you can get on a rainy cold night. We asked her for a different table and she gave us an attitude and said to go around the corner to where their other restaurant was. Because of her attitude we were ready to just find another restaurant to go to but wanted to see what the other restaurant was like. The smaller Trattoria Il Panino’s had much more character and the gentleman who greeted us at the door was very inviting and engaging. From there on our experience at this restaurant was fantastic. Our waiter was excellent. Our food was beyond excellent. The drinks were terrific as well. All in all, Bella the sour hostess could’ve ruined our night and kept us from a wonderful experience at Il Panino’s but thankfully she didn’t and we got to have the best calamari, rack of lamb, limoncello shrimp, Ragu pasta, and chicken Parmesan.
Very friendly staff, seated quickly and told not to rush. The food was fresh and very delicious. The pasta dishes, especially the special lasagna, were delicious. I do wish I got more than one carrot halved and three stalks of asparagus for vegetables with my salmon. I would have left hungry had I not had bread. Granted, you should go for the pasta, and the salmon was delicious, just a small portion when compared to the pasta dishes.
Vegetables were great. Lamb was just all fat on a bone. It was the worst piece of meet I have ever had.
Very Dark No Desert? Just Ok
