I absolutely loved our romantic Valentine's dinner at Trawler Trash - the decor is understated and cosy and the staff are so friendly. The food was wonderful, I love the oyster starter with zingy shallot vinegar and zesty lemon, followed by succulent lobster. The cheese plate was a really pleasant surprise - a decent variety of different cheeses with enough crackers, grapes and delicious quince jelly. My fiancé had the swordfish to start and said it was amazing, and a couple of people around us had mullet ceviche, which looked really good too, so we'll definitely be coming back soon! Our waitress Martina was an absolute star and even gave me a single red rose at the end of the meal - now that's service! Thank you for a lovely evening and see you soon

We ordered oysters as starters and that was well presented and tasty. Then 2 different fish plates that lacked some seasoning. One was also a bit burned as well as the vegetables from the other. I mentioned it to the server when he asked if everything was ok and he just said “well, it’s grilled sir” as if that meant burning was normal...
Great food and friendly highly efficient service made this very enjoyable, not the cheapest but the quality of everything justified that.

This was my third visit but sadly Trash is losing its edge. It opened bravely with non-mainstream fish across more than one dish on the menu. At launch it was fabulous cooking with intriguing opportunities to try unusual fish. On 29 November all the fish choices main course were items you would pick up in Tesco for cooking at home - salmon, probably farmed, cod/haddock in batter, sole (albeit called "witch" but sole is sole- a favourite in nursing homes).Thank goodness the chef's work was excellent and the starters were still interesting. But I am glad we had our 25% off card on this occasion. PLEASE Trash go back to being more interesting - what's the point of being a street away from Steve Hatt in Essex road? surely his thriving business shows you that it's worth putting least one gurnard offer or similar on the menu?
We were really looking forward to lunch at Trawler Trash particularly as we had seen the very good value set-menu on their website.
When we arrived the restaurant was completely empty at nearly 1pm on Upper street, not a great sign, and they gave us the main menu, no set-menu... We queried with this and was told there was no set menu, we told them about seeing it on the website, and the waiter then admitted, oh yes we've been trying to get them to take it down.
I'd love to be able to rate the meal but after seeing the prices we decided to leave, one dish was more expensive than the advertised 3 course set menu, and though the waiters were polite enough as we went elsewhere, their lack of custom was not too surprising. I would've thought for a table of 6 it would have been worth their while honoring the advertised set menu as it's their mistake (seriously how long does it take to remove a set menu from a website?), but apparently not, even when you have no other customers.
There is a lot of competition for great restaurants on Upper Street, all offering good value lunch menus, this is definitely not one of them.
Having recently lost both Fish and Chip restaurants on Upper Street it was great to see that Trawler Trash had opened. The fish was some of the best I have had and overall the food was great.
Service was mixed and the place was empty which was a shame (although it was early). I will be back so I hope that Trawler sticks around for a while

My girlfriend and I went to see what this little fish restaurant had to offer. I had one of those nights where everything I chose just didn’t agree with my palate My girlfriend chose a wine which wasn’t up to scratch but with in an instance they changed it to a very drinkable wine. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Each dish my partner chose had flavour, look delicious and hit the button. I chose a mackerel carbonara which didn’t work in my opinion. The staff over heard our conversation and immediately came over and offered me an alternative. I declined as it was my choice that was the problem and not the food, they removed the meal from our bill. Polite and attentive all through are meal they were first class. People say that the food and the venue make a good restaurant but service is up there with those. I would definitely go back because of the staff and hopefully pick something that agrees with me. We were so please when TT opened as we had been looking for a good fish restaurant for a while- and boy we found it. The food is incredible and the service brilliant. They do great cocktails too. Love this place! Go!
Quite an uplifting experience. Good all round. Excellent toilets too, which indicated a good general standard of hygiene. Side tables cramped, though, with uncomfortably upright seats.
Very good fish menu, nicely cooked and attentive service. Good wines by the glass, eg an excellent Viognier.
Well.... it was alright I guess.... the decor was quite novelty and furniture modern....low light setting which created a lil ambience. The good was ok .....and that's why I don't rate this place highly ..... I could have cooked this at home easily and matched what the chefs had prepared ....though it was nice food ...there was no big wow to it!
Scampi was good for the starters ...sardines lacked flavour . The tastiest things we ate were the sauces accompanying the meals and tomato garnish to be honest.
It was a cute place and waiting staff lovely don't get me wrong but the menu needs a whoosh fabulousness to it. Consider a seafood platter also instead of just oysters. I was hoping for calamari and massive shrimp and crab claws ....but none.... mussels were ok...but far too creamy ....and not enough garlic.
2 starters 3 mains 2 cocktails and a glass of wine £100 which was a little steep for what we got....not too bad yea.....but if the food was an 8 ...i wouldn't grumble at all.

Staff are extremely accommodating and friendly - 10 out of 10 . The starters were amazing (definitely order the octopus) and the mains were good. A good selection of drinks for everyone to enjoy as well. Will be back!
Food was delicious. The octopus starter and the salmon pasta were delicious, as well as the sorbets for dessert. Everything freshly made by the chefs cooking at the front, feels very personal. The place is very small and we were in a two- person booth which was quite cosy, only suggestions would be to try getting a table in the back with more space.
The owner and wait staff were very friendly and attentive, I'd recommend highly! Seems like a hidden gem in Islington!
