Twenty, Princes Street, Grill & Smokehouse
The food was amazing and the restaurant is such a nice setting but based on the service I don’t think I will be back. Our server was very rude, we felt as if we were a hinderance. We had to ask for a drinks order and food order to be taken. His attitude in general was disgusting and made us feel very uncomfortable.
Service was slow despite informing the staff we had a show to see.
Food was mediocre. Steaks felt “pre-cooked” then re-heated (barely). Could not cut through steaks until the waiter brought a sharper knife.
Looked like the restaurant was under-staffed which made it difficult to get the waiter’s attention
Restaurant was half-full during a busy period which suggests we were not alone in our assessment.
Had a fillet steak and it was amazing, staff were lovely aswell
Great location. Lovely views over Princes street and on the 1st floor which gives a chance to do some people watching. We went during festival and it was a haven from busy street below. Lovely room and friendly staff. Good the lunch menu runs to 6pm which gives some value options. Cocktails quite pricy.
Had the sunday lunch with lamb, food was amazing. Staff very friendly and attentive. Decor inside restaurant was beautiful. great location, very central. Would definately reccomend
Considering steak house is in the name I expected much better food. I ordered the filet and it had no flavor at all. Son had robs that were like beef jerky that were so dry. Husband enjoyed his monk fish. Ordered the rhubarb cake for dessert, it was dry and definitely store bought. The food overall was terrible and way over priced. Views were really nice though.
It was OK, service a bit slow and had to get the lunch time menu myself as only give the dinner menu and had booked lunch for 5pm.
A lot of very noisy people at the next table, which made us hurry away before dessert. Not the restaurant's fault however.
The view was amazing from our table and lovely atmosphere.
A very convenient location in which to enjoy a quality meal with a great ambience.
The service was exceptionally slow. We had to flag down a server to get service over and over again. No one at any point approached us to ask . Admittedly we didn’t want to order until an hour after we arrived and that caused them an issue.
We spent over 3hours including our initial chat and drinks.
The food was DELICIOUS. Very well presented and plated. Imaginative combinations. My husband and son were still a little hungry when we finished!
Table next to us got seated after us and got served before us. Both main courses had laid for 20 minutes before being brought to the table to the steaks were cold to the touch. Would not recommend
Excellent value set lunch. The restaurant decor is modern and elegant. Food was very well presented and really tasty. Good range of drinks and the service was excellent. Have eaten here before and will definitely return.
Incredible food, restaurant, service and setting. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh
We had the restricted lunch menu & were not disappointed- the crepes & burger & creme brûlée’s were so tasty & well presented. The staff could not have been more helpful and willing to please. We’d a lovely table and the view over Edinburgh was worth the price of the lunch & more. We will recommend & definitely return.
We had a great evening, staff very polite and attentive Food delicious and beautifully presented As it was my sons birthday they always go the extra mile and present happy birthday wishes with the desert Highly recommend this Resturant
Our family lunch at Twenty was splendid. Food, wine and service were all very good. We particularly enjoyed the glorious view from the magnificent windows.
Great location in Princes Street and close to all transport. Very spacious and comfortable restaurant with interesting menu and good service.
My husband and I chose to go for a meal to Twenty Princes Street for our anniversary meal. My husband and I don't tend to normally treat ourselves so we decided to book this restaurant as a treat. Unfortuenelty we were left very disappointed as the service was really poor. The 'welcome' on arrival was very off and very unwelcoming. We then got seated and after waiting a while our food order was taken. The reason I'd chosen this restaurant was because I wanted to try the Lobster, when I asked for it I just got told bluntly they 'don't have any' so quickly had to choose another meal. My husband ordered a full rack of ribs and they bought out half! The waiting service was probably one of the worst I have experienced I am afraid to say. They were not attentive in the slightest considering its meant to be a fairly nice establishment and as a treat we went somewhere more pricey then we'd normally go but wish we'd stuck to what we know. Both my husband and I came away very disappointed. Very poor service!
Lovely place to go for eating and drinking. Lovely touch made for my husbands birthday. Only issue was the waiter we had wasn’t very welcoming and didn’t speak much
Food was delicious and with a spectacular view! Staff were great
Visited using a £60 gift voucher and after only spending £45 of this, was told there was no facility to either get a refund of the difference or get another voucher for the difference, which was my preferred choice. This is a complete and utter ripoff and I won’t be back or recommend Twenty again which I had done previously.
Lovely atmosphere! Loved the food and the staff were really great with our nearly 2 year old. Thoroughly recommend
The food was good and portions were generous.
The seating was uncomfortable with low upholstered easy chairs that were too large and too low for the dining table - we all sat on pillows and coats to be a little higher.
The music was way too loud and we couldn’t hear each other.
Food was excellent and staff friendly and helpful. Not to mention the great view over Princes Street and up to the Mound.
We had a wonderful evening!! Thank you to the chef and the team.
Marilyn was an amazing waitress, excellent at her job and knows how to ensure her customers have the best experience! She’s a credit to Twenty. Food was also amazing and couldn’t recommend it enough for a nice occasion!
On arrival, the staff were quick to offer drinks, we weren’t left sitting around with nothing. Food out of this world, very well presented, quick turnaround of courses. Wine list plentiful with different levels of affordability. Cannot fault anything on this visit.
My fillet steak was fatty Iv never had a steak that has been fatty unless it’s sirloin which is why I didn’t order that.
Beautiful meal, great table at the window. Only thing that let the night down was the attitude of the main member of staff serving us. I have been to Twenty several times and never encountered this, even when I asked for the bill he inappropriately and sarcastically said he thought I was asking for his phone number
After we were seated we waited about 30 min before anyone acknowledged us or took even a drink order. It was clear we had been forgotten or never assigned a waiter. Tried to flag someone down but were ignored. Finally someone noticed us, apologized and took an order. We then waited about another hour before our food came, we were told because our order had gone in at the same time as some large groups. Which wouldn’t have happened of course if they had taken our order when we got there. Manager eventually came over and apologized and comped us a dessert. Which we appreciated but whole experience was really unacceptable service for a place with these prices.
View is very nice. Food was fine. Service was terrible.
Very disappointed, went here for a birthday treat and the service was terrible. Server was very unhappy and unhelpful. Been here before which was amazing but will not be back anytime soon after this experience
We had a lovely meal for my son's graduation, service, food and setting all outstanding . Highly recommend and will certainly visit again.
sisters 70th birthday arrived early for a drink in the bar first this seemed to be a real issue for the waiting staff seemed confused why we wanted to do that and constantly asked if we had a reservation
(its a bar even if we didn't cant we come in ?) seemed to feel there was no where for us to sit (large free seat 2 m away ?) anyway 10 min later ordered some drinks 15 min later had to ask if waitress would bring them over ( been on the bar for 5 min) she said bar was busy ? and proceeded to wipe the bar with a cloth could have should have collected them myself beer was getting warm !!
anyway went to our table lovely setting 6 of us one gluten free menu required no problem said the waiter and he never came back again ?? menus were just over at the door so we got one ourselves ?
food tho was very good nice menus beautifully presented not cheap but worth the price
bill was large found a £35 service charge added for no apparent reason they just add it anyway you can ask for it to be removed ?err ok
all in all lovely place let down by a couple of poor staff we all have off days but don't take it out on the customer we're just out for a nice night out !!
The food was very good and the location was great. The service was slow and the servers were not friendly. The host was very welcoming though.
Celebrating birthday with wife and parents.
Food, service was good and all staff attentive to your questions.
Been before for food and shall return again.
This is the second time we have been to Twenty for dinner. The service is fabulous and is one of the highlights of being here. I was a little disappointed that there seemed to be no indication that the comments from our online booking for the evening had not been taken into account. We also added a friend to the booking increasing our table from 6 to 7 covers - this had also not been acknowledged.
The team are hugely talented and it is always a pleasure to see such superb service.
The food was great and the service professional could not have been more attentive - offering us a combination of anything we wanted from the menu
Fantastic meal in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent friendly service, complimenting the amazing meal we had. Thank you.
Always good food and service.Wine was first class and the view from the window was beautiful.
A beautiful restaurant with lovely views. I really liked how the tables were thoughtfully set to take advantage of the views. Service was attentive and food was really good. We started with crispy squid, which was seasoned nicely and the chili dipping sauce was tasty. Next were steaks, me the sirloin and my husband the filet. They were cooked perfectly to our requested temps. I had the blue murder butter with my sirloin and it was delicious. Overall a really nice meal, my favorite dinner in Edinburgh.
