Twenty, Princes Street, Grill & Smokehouse
We were looking forward to our booked lunch but unfortunately the restaurant was closed. How can they take booking in an empty restaurant. They also asked us to confirm our booking. Then we were asked how we enjoyed our non existing lunch.
Made a booking, received a confirmation and the day before the booking received another email asking for me to confirm the reservation again and providing me all the up to date C19 guidance. All good so far. We turned up at our booked time to be met by a very confused lady at the door, who told us the restaurant hadn't re-opened yet following the Central belt shut down. So we managed to find somewhere else that would take walk-ins - but clearly a system flaw somewhere!
Food was good but fish main course was small. Had the same quality at a local restaurant where the fish was at least twice the size. Sadly there was nowhere else to go. Noisy diners sharing a telephone call on speakerphone was very rude. When I asked the waiter to ask to turn down the volume they did but could still hear the conversation. Waiter was lovely.
Few customers due to Covid restrictions. Food was still excellent and service exemplary.
The staff at 20 Princes Street were as always just helpful and delightful. The food was as described and tasted wonderful, I have never had a bad experience in this most incredible of grand dining halls. Thank you so much again.
Amazing service and food - can’t fault it!! Restaurant was very quiet but considering all going on couldn’t fault them!
Spacious and high ceilings well spaced out tables. Efficient and helpful service. Good food.
Outstanding service followed by Fantastic food .I would Highly recommend a visit , you won’t be disappointed.
We were staying at the Hotel Indigo and booked their restaurant, Twenty Princes Street. It was a Sunday so a bit quieter than usual but it was enjoyable. The food was lovely and good quality and we really enjoyed our meal.
Sharing platter was amazing would highly recommend
Very poor choice on the menu,
Chips very poor and my steak was overcooked,
Which I sent back and then the steak returned very rare,
Starter was very good,
Also did not feel the steak was cooked on a Joseph grill which is one reason we came here for had am a chef and I cook on a Joseph grill.
Staff great , food great , looking forward to my next visit
Originally tried to book restaurant but could only book bar .... after ordering food we were asked if we would like to take a table in the dining room !
Much more space and lovely restaurant .
No ambience at all as far too bright and no low level music.
Food was limited and some n/a. Lamb chop very bony with little meat.
Disappointed as reviews seemed good
Great location with ambient environment. The lady that served us was exceptionally nice. Wish she took the bill so I could have tipped her.
A must try once the staff are attentive but not in your face. Good social distancing food just melted in the mouth, starters brilliant, wine delicious, had a great night. Thanks chef staff etc
We had a table for 4 and arrived at 1.45 for a 2.30 booking.
Due to the current situation everything feels awkward and every
restaurant has its own way of dealing with the rules, so you never seem to
know if you are withIn the way the staff want you proceeding correct way.
The restaurant was quiet which led to poor ambience, but apart from this,
on being shown to our table l presented the maitre de with my “itison” vouchers
this led to an “oh” like it was some sort of surprise...... lesson to restaurant owners
if you do not like the voucher scheme, do not participate, l certainly think
the public should be embraced for participating not being made to feel like a cheapskate.
If l did not have these voucher we would not have been in this particular place,
having said all this, service and food was very good.
An enjoyable meal with friendly staff working under the current restrictions
Superb late lunch , creative well cooked food and friendly attentive staff , couldn’t fault my visit at all !
Food absolutely delicious. Staff very friendly, nothing was too much. Thank you. We will be back
Amazing food per usual.
Staff were amazing. Just wish there was not 10 oclock rules lol.
Was amazing for a first date with a girl i have knowing for 16 years
Comfortable surroundings, pleasant staff. Timings between courses spot on.
Steak very salty, peppercorn sauce v watery and runny. Salad pretty poor that came with steak. Vanilla ice cream ordered for desert and tasted very bland with a dough like consistency. Overall very poor quality for the price.
Amazing food and service as always, lovely night out
Booked a table by the window to celebrate my birthday. Amazing views of the city! Food was incredibly tasty and the service was outstanding. They even gave us a nice dessert as a birthday gift!
Food was really good of its kind (steaks, burger) and some of it even quite imaginative (haggis and black pudding french toast, venison carpaccio). Service was friendly and efficient and the surroundings elegant, perhaps would have rated higher if had a bit more ambience. It was very quiet on a Monday night.
Another fantastic meal, with fantastic service. My current "go to" for a meal in Edinburgh.
Third time being here sent my steak back as it was over cooked & 2nd steak was much better
I just wanted to message that the food on Saturday night was fantastic. The service on the other hand was pretty poor to be honest.
On many occasions our glasses were empty and we would have to wait a good 10-15 mins to be asked if we’d like another drink. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered the banana dish but was given the poussain and in fairness this was dealt with pretty quickly. The toilets were pretty disgusting and considering the pandemic I’d have thought this would be cleaned regularly. The bin was full of paper rolls and also scattered across the floor.
Lastly I was so disappointed that I had arranged for my wife to have a birthday treat which was noted by yourself as well as when I made the booking and this wasn’t delivered.
Due to food mixup the waiter did take the cocktails off our bill but we decided to still pay for the full amount as the food and drinks were great.
As I said food was fantastic but the service has definitely put us off ever coming back and I wouldn’t recommend your restaurant to anyone else.
Excellent food in a lovely setting. Service was generally very good.
Love this place, the staff are lovely and the food is great. We had the burgers and the cheese board. We feel it is a little over priced and the cheese board could’ve had a different variety of crackers and accomplishments to go with it but we would still visit this restaurant as we love it!
Absolutely awful been many times but this time nothing good at all
What a lovely surprise! Easily our best meal of our trip! The service was excellent, the views were lovely and the food was outstanding! We were even treated to a free drink and lovely treat with anniversary message to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Already recommended to our friends for their next trip to Edinburgh
My only criticism would be that the lighting was too bright in the restaurant and could have been lower/reduced to create the ideal setting
The food was lovely, very well presented
Staff very attentive
Lovely place to enjoy dinner
Disappointingly but understandably quite.
Big space, resulting in zero atmosphere but in fairness no fault of venue.
Food was pretty decent 🙂
Great night. Service was great thanks very much.
One of most pleasurable venues I have ever encountered. The staff could not do enough to ensure we had a enjoyable time. The meal was truly out of this world and will be coming back on my next visit to Edinburgh.
The food was very average
The drinks list minimum, being in Edinburgh one would expect way to more
Not recommend this place at all
But the staff was very friendly and helpful that’s why the 3 stars
Steak used to be cooked differently, which was a lot tastier - slightly disappointed with the flavour this time
Staff super helpful . Limited menu due to Covid but food was gorgeous.
