Twenty, Princes Street, Grill & Smokehouse
Amazing steaks from the Josper grill. Delighted with the cocktail menu too
Second visit with friends this time and staff were not as alert this time. Waited at entrance to restaurant before being attended to for about 5 mins. Felt longer and the restaurant had about 3 covers!
I selected the same starter and main as before. It was not as hot, the plate yes, the food not! Still tasty. Waiting staff attentive and informed, no issues there.
We'll be back, as the overall experience, location, ambiance and location are great.
Had colleagues from London and they had an amazing evening. Food drinks setting services was fantastic. Always a pleasure dining here cannot recommend highly enough.
Only issue was that you need a bigger plate for the Sunday Roast Chicken - tasted great - difficult to eat!
The starter was a bit greasy and when the main course came there was the tiniest pieces of beef so I said they had forgot to put the beef on the plate so he went a got another 2 portions. The servers were very nice.
Nice food. Although the welcome into restaurant not great and service not strong.
Lovely setting. Food was amazing. Staff very attentive.
lovely place to eat and meet up with friends service was excellent
I took my daughter in law out for tea before going to the ballet. We had a lovely window seat. Food was perfect and service very good. Great start to the evening. My only observation was that there was no one at the desk when we arrived.
Amazing food and service thank you so much for making my birthday special!
I pre-booked for my graduation, and they sat us by the window overlooking Princess Street. Food was excellent though portion sizes were on the small side in my opinion. We decided to order dessert however after waiting for nearly 30 minutes we had to cancel it due to other commitments on the day. We didn't get an update from the waiter and had to ask for a status update.
Lovely dinner again. This is turning into our favourite Edinburgh restaurant. All the food was gorgeous. We had carpaccio, scallops, mackerel, rib eye steaks, mac n cheese side, roast veg side, mushroom side. Completely FTB - Full to Brim!
Friendly young staff. No pressure and lots of buzz. Delicious wine too.
This was an exceptional place to eat. The view from the windows over looking Princes Street, beautiful.
Access from Waverly Station right across the road. Lovely ambiance. Lovely staff. We will return. Thank you
The food was very tasty and well presented. My only niggle is the food was not hot. There was 3 of us in our party and starters or mains were not piping hot. Overall it was a nice evening
Lovely lunch at this beautiful restaurant what a lovely place with a spot on view of Princess Street. Was good access for me as well as I am wheelchair bound. Beautiful decor in a lovely room lined with Scottish Art. A must visit restaurant just for the ambience.
Excellent value set lunch menu with good choice and lovely food. The service was very friendly and efficient and the dining room was lovely - with incredible views! Will definitely be back
Gorgeous setting overlooking Edinburgh castle, food was delicious
Exploring Edinburgh and had a wonderful anniversary meal here. They truly spoiled us. The food was lovely and the staff were extremely pleasant and efficient. Will definitely be back!
Really disappointing. Crispy squid was soggy and took 40 minutes to arrive, Main course also took ages and was cold, but we were so starving we daren’t send it back! We did get a bottle of free wine to make up for it but we were only in Edinburgh for the weekend and this was such a shame. Lots of other tables complaining about the wait - really not good enough.
I would recommend but with reservations about food choice. I had the scallops to start, which were lovely followed by the duck - which was not. It was overcooked and rubbery. I chose not to complain as this was a pre-theatre meal and we didn’t have time. My family all enjoyed their mains - burgers, ribs and steak. Staff were lovely as is the dining room with some great views of Edinburgh. So I would recommend and stick to the grill.
Delicious food and great value for money, plenty to choose from on the lunch menu.
The setting is attractive and waiters attentive, but food very average and overpriced.
Food and service were excellent. Menu offered great choice. Very relaxed atmosphere and did not feel rushed in any way. Will certainly be back
We booked here three years ago for a family birthday celebration and decided to return in October 2019. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff for whom nothing was too much trouble including relocating our party so elderly guests could hear! Service was universally excellent. Food quality very high, the only issue being a fillet steak which was overcooked and its replacement was somewhat tough. However this was dealt with without demur and the price was removed from the final bill so the customer service experience can’t be faulted. We highly recommend this venue.
We were in Edinburgh with friends, for our first ever visit. The restaurant was close to our hotel and we had a lovely meal on our first night. The two young ladies who served us were lovely and happy to engage with us at our instigation. We had a table by the window, so we also enjoyed the fabulous view. Having so enjoyed our evening, we returned again the next evening, and this time a young male waiter served us and we enjoyed the same service and interaction, as well as the delicious food. We would have returned again on our third and last night, but unfortunately they were unable to accommodate us due to a large private function.
This place is amazing and the staff are great
The best staff member is Thomas
Thanks for a brilliant night
Lovely meal, and fantastic location directly opposite Edinburgh Waverly station. The restuarant is a beautiful space, well-decorated and quirky. We had the lunchtime menu - 2 courses for £16. Food was delicious and very quickly served. My only slight complaint would be that the waiting staff could have been a little quicker taking our order, and coming to give dessert menus etc. Would recommend for a nice lunch in the city.
Our waiters and waitresses were absolutely outstanding. The food was delicious but we had to wait over 45 mins between courses and after our order. If the restaurant was busy I would I would understand however it was extremely quiet. This really let the amazing food and hospitality of the servers down.
The whole experience was good. Our only issue was the lack of beers available and the small portions provided on some of the main courses
Beautiful experience from start to finish. The view, service and foods was absolutely delicious
A warm welcome followed by delicious food and attentive service
Generally enjoyed our meal/visit. Food was nice and service friendly and keen. A little over-priced for what you get - particularly the desserts and wine - but that's the location and castle-view for you.
Really nice place, with really good food, and all with a view of Old Town. The fish was incredible, sides and desserts just a shade less so. Service was uncoordinated, but sincere and friendly. In general a very nice place for a solid, elegant and affordable meal. Would highly recommend, particularly if you're staying in or near New Town, as it's very convenient.
Cannot fault the food, everything that was ordered was perfect.
The service was a little slow. We had to ask for our order to be taken and when the drinks arrived only the lager's arrived and we had to then ask where the wine for the table was.
Another great dinner at Twenty.
The staff work hard to provide exciting food and great service, even at very busy times.
We will definitely be back soon.
The service was so friendly and on point at both the dinner and breakfast that I had a Twenty. The space is absolutely beautiful. Large historic room overlooking The Balmoral Hotel and up to the Castle.
My lamb served three ways was delicious. Highly recommend the restaurant whether staying at the hotel or not
We booked for somewhere to have Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint! The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.
Enjoyed our meals which were well presented. Very good and helpful waiting staff. Nice table location in lovely surroundings with a fabulous view. Great evening.
We went here for our anniversary and requested a table by the window. Without fail, we were seated at a window table overlooking Princes St. and a great view of Old Town and the Edinburgh Castle. Excellente serviciso was provided by Enrique and Marilyn for our meal as well as drinks. Very attentive and professional service. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two and it was prepared wonderfully. Tfhe presentation by Enrique tableside was very impressive and he did a great job. I would highly recommend Twenty for your special occasion in Edinburgh.
Time after time the place doesn’t disappoint.
