Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers
Matched with quality wines and cocktails we guarantee you unforgettable experience.
We had a truly fabulous meal at Twenty Seven, the food and service was excellent in a very attractive restaurant.
The food was imaginative, all 3 courses were totally delicious and beautifully presented!
Only 2 quibbles.
A glass of wine failed to turn up with the main course, but there was an apology and it was not charged.
The advertised “2 for the price of 1 cocktails after 8pm” was confusing / misleading as both were charged for in full; we are told that the offer didn’t apply to what we had ordered but the offer did not state exclusions.
The food was outstanding, I can’t wait to come back!
Excellent experience, although there was annoying beat music on arrival, which was turned down on request and changed to more appropriate quiet dining music. Staff made every effort to accommodate a food allergy. Definitely worth a repeat visit when we are next in the Kingsbridge area.
Great place to celebrate special times with friends or as a couple.
Amazing delicious dishes & quality drinks stylish environment with super fabulous staff!
The whole experience is one you will want to repeat time and again. Superb!
Food great. However OpenTable booking didn't work - we had clear evidence of a booking and had confirmed but restaurant claimed to have no record. They did accommodate us but it made the service a little fraught and awkward. Food had good flavours and great presentation, just a little disorganised on the (friendly) service.
Wow! We were blown away by Number 27. We went for lunch on a Tuesday and as it happens they were offering the seven course tasting menu at half price on Tuesdays so it was a no brainer! Three of us went and we all ate everything and thought every course was delicious. Even my sister who is quite fussy and looked at several of the courses on the menu and said “I won’t like that” actually finished everything.
Excellent tasting menu, with ambitious and interesting combinations. Would be very happy to go back and have some of the highlight dishes in full.
All in all a very pleasant dining experience.
We chose from the a la carte - each course was beautifully presented and tasted delicious . Special mentions- the trout starter with mustard seeds and peach, the sea bass and the passion fruit & banana with creme freche mousse ! ... but as always we loved it all . Both Lauren and Aqua were as lovely and attentive as always - we have booked already for New Years Eve but will undoubtedly be back to see you before then !!
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Amazing food beautifully presented and wonderful flavours . Excellent service too . Would highly recommend and will definitely return here when we are next in Devon
Fantastic value for the Tuesday half price tasting menu, staff are lovely but one or two are struggling with basics which could be sorted very easily. Best dining experience in South Hams at present.
We had the 8 course taster menu with accompanying wines. It was simply incredible. Jamie is extremely talented and Aqua looked after us so well we didn’t want for anything. The best food I have ever eaten fullstop
An outstanding evening. The atmosphere was very pleasant (apart from a 'bolshie' customer when he walked in!). We had the eight course tasting menue with accompanying wine flight which was described and served perfectly. A filling meal, each course leaving you wanting more, but as a whole by 'seven' we were struggling a bit!
The service in the bar and at the table was excellent, and overall it was a thoroughly enjoyabl;e experience and one we look forward to repeating soon....
Thank you so much for your glowing review ☺️ Jamie and team xx
Food was absolutely faultless. Unfortunately the front of house team were a member down so this meant at times the wine service was slow. Not a criticism as they did very well considering. I would expect to see this chef getting a star very soon. Delicious
Had a very good meal which was very enjoyable for a special occasion,. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was presented in a timely fashion at the outset but pace dropped off slightly towards the end. The food was tasteful and attractively presented. The desserts were a little disappointing . Strawberrries and panacotta were fine though rather meagre. Same with the cheese which was barely a shaving.
Hello thank you for your review, I’m glad you like part of the taster menu, I’m going to look into the desserts, kind regards Jamie
We had the 6 course taster menu- it was fabulous... the staff were great too ... thoroughly enjoyed our evening .
Thank you so much for your lovely review, means the world to me, see you soon Jamie xxx☺️
Having previously enjoyed a number of evenings at this restaurant we were disappointed by the standard of food which has slipped from the previous excellent quality (my main meal was inedible due to large lumps of cartillage in the chicken), secondly Jamie was entertaining a number of his mates in the main restaurant in a fashion not conducive to a high end restaurant (large bottles of coke on the table) and scruffy attire
Hello I’m glad you enjoyed a number of evenings, and I’m sorry about your recent experience, in 15 months of owning the restaurant I’ve never once eaten from the other side, and had a rare quiet night so decided to experience the restaurant, to see where we can improve, the reason for the large bottle of coke is so we didn’t want keep disturbing the staff, if you visit again please book direct @ firstname.lastname@example.org I can make this up to you, kind regards Jamie
I have eaten in the best restaurants all over the world. 27 definitely rates in my top 5.
The food is creative and delicious. Despite there being a small staff crisis ie only the chef in the kitchen and one remarkably cheerful waitress we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our experience was not affected. The dining room lacks a bit of ambience. It felt a little bare. Perhaps more fresh flowers, candles in the winter etc. Nevertheless Jamie is clearly a rising star. Please open in Modbury!
Thank you for your amazing review, but also apologise for the staff crisis, trying to find people to stay is difficult but we will get there, thanks again Jamie xx
Stunning food. Freshest local ingredients cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.
We come about once a month and always have a very good time. Hint - Need to make something more of the downstairs firstly to make it of a similar standard as the food and secondly I would imagine to make it a bit more of a profit centre.
We had the eight course tasting menu at the special mid week price, which made it excellent value. As always the food was wonderful and beautifully presented and every course was fantastic. The only quibble was the service. The staff are very friendly, but we ordered bread while we waited for our first course to arrive. It would have been a smart move as ittook took over an hour for this to arrive, but the bread never arrived either, despite asking several times. The restaurant was full and as the dining room began to empty so the courses began to arrive more rapidly. However, the whole dinner took 3hours 45 minutes, so even though we were with friends the art of conversation was stretched to the full. Despite this the best restaurant within 40 miles of Kingsbridge and Jamie passion for his culinary art is shown in every dish.
We came to celebrate our wedding and we were hugely impressed and delighted with our choice of restaurant. From the moment we entered Twenty Seven we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff who showed us to a most beautiful table complete with a wedding card. The service was impeccable, the food was incredible. Although a time limit is suggested for the table, at no point did we feel rushed and we were able to stay above the allotted time, and the staff were attentive without being overbearing or pushy. We would thoroughly recommend Twenty Seven, and we’ll be back again in the summer. Thank you all very much for enhancing our wonderful day x
Thank you for a lovely evening, top quality food and good friendly service.
Could I suggest fitting air con or ceiling fans as it was very hot.
Having seen delicious dishes on social media we decided to give it a go for my fiancés birthday. Whilst it costs more than your average meal, this is not your average meal. Every course was truly amazing. He's a very talented chap and I would highly recommend a visit. All four of us had the 8 taster courses and we will certainly be back.
we had a fantastic meal. The food was superb and service great. Started with chicken thighs and foie gras and then I had beef cheek both were brilliant. Best meal we have had for a long time. Would highly recommend
Delicious food and nice restaurant and bar area. Highly recommend it.
The food was incredible, the chef is so talented and combined some amazing flavours. The 50% off the taster menu on Tuesday also makes the evening exceptional value for money!
The food was excellent but unfortunately the restaurant was uncomfortably hot upstairs. There is limited ventilation and the nature of the building makes it difficult to resolve this issue. We would not return in the summer!
A little gem of a place in rural Devon that has superb food, varied choice and served with a touch of class. Loved it.
We had a delightful lunch, the food really was delicious and the flavours unusual in the case of the risotto and very well put together. The fish was brilliantly fresh and beautifully cooked. Everything we hoped for.
The food was amazing, great value and wonderful flavours.
We had booked a lunch time as we were down on holiday and had a friend had joined us, and it was a great pity that we were the only people in the restaurant.
Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers is a restaurant that we will use again if we return to the area on holiday. We feel that once word gets out about the quality of the food it will become difficult to get a table.
Dining here was a delightful experience. We are from the menu rather than the tasting menu. There was a good variety of locally sourced ingredients to choose from, all expertly cooked and full of flavour and texture. It’s a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend.
Had the eight course taster menu - food was an absolute delight ! We weren’t rushed through courses either and for a taster menu we felt portion sizes were good . We have been before and are already booked in again !!
Eating at Twenty Seven is such an honor. You can see the care and pride put into preparing every dish and the ingredients are always the absolute best.
Taster Tuesday menu was brilliant. Highly recommended. Service was friendly and knowledgable. We will definitely come back!
Food was fantastic however although service was good Jamie needs to up the game on front of house experience. He would also benefit from a good wide ranging wine list to compliment the amazing food
Jamie’s food is always wonderful and we were lucky to get a table on Saturday. His new bar snacks are also divine.
Superb food. Very creative original and well balanced menu.
2 scallops for expensive starter??!
Got our bill wrong by £20; bottle wine when should have been one glass, then 2 glasses when should have been one and a prosecco, wrong food gnocchi not risotto, (though same price).
Food very good, beautifully presented. One of our party asked for a piece of bread to mop up their delicious starter sauce. When it came eventually it was fancy cheese toasted bread, which was £4 on the bill!
We felt a small plate of some sort of dip and bread (offered free!) Would have been a nice gesture while we waited for starters, when menu pretty expensive.
Our main concern was the over attentive waitress, very nice we are sure, but needs to learn to leave people alone, not fuss around all the time, (which was exactly what happened with several waitresses when I came about a year ago.)
Food lovely but expensive for portion sizes. Fish and chips £25?!
This is meant to be helpful but does sound rather negative
Disappointing. Not good value for the very high cost for two courses. Cooking average and portions paltry. For Example, what was described as duck fat roast potatoes was in fact one tiny, slightly undercooked fondant potato.
