Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers
Here at restaurant Twenty Seven our ethos is quite simple; we use fresh local produce, skillfully prepared and served in a relaxed vibrant environment. Quality is key, Jamie only sources and cooks with the best produce from nature’s larder. Choose from A La Carte, 3 Courses for £20 or our 6 or 8 course Taster menus!
Matched with quality wines and cocktails we guarantee you unforgettable experience.
As ever, the food was exceptional. Delicious Sunday lunch enjoyed.
Superb food and the wine was excellent. An organic rioja which I would recommend. Anna was really friendly and while the restaurant was quite quiet, the atmosphere was cosy and quite romantic.
Our order was clearly forgotten and the starter took >45mins, no apology just given some bread we had already declined. The main cause-venison was inedible. It tasted like a bucket of salt was over it, very dated, like French cuisine from 20yrs ago. The dauphinoise was not at all creamy and barely cooked and the brocolli again too salty to eat. The sauce/meat and accompaniments all tasted the same/salty rich gravy.
The maitre'd didn't apologise and was very snooty, just took the food back, then tried to charge for the sides. The chef did not come out and ask why. There was not even a sorry you didn't enjoy your meal as we left. It took 2 hours to receive our main meal from arriving and everything else was then shut when we left!
Not worth the money, not Masterchef standard, dated and salty food.
Food was wonderful - just a little too much salt with my Hake and chorizo together with the samphire but the beef was superb. Atmosphere is almost zero - I wouldn't feel comfortable brining a group of friends here as the noise level may be frowned upon.
Portions are quite small (quail) but the starters were both delicious. The venison was a little overpowered by the sauce and Kate felt the same about the sauce with the fish (chorizo) is not a favourite with either of us. The Rhubarb is stunning but again quite small, its lightness was appreciated after the venison. However these are very minor quibbles and personal.
It would be good for staff if service could be added to the bill. Few of us carry much cash these days
I enjoy cooking, I enjoy eating, I enjoy company.
We had the six course taster menu.
Each course wonderful,I shall try at home some poor imitations, but the food was so inspiring., you would miss out in not trying to relplicate at least one dish.Excellent service with verbal notes. Some needed, others not. Go for a lovely relaxed night, not a quick bite before the cinema.
Prices for drinks? A bit steep, I thought, but this was a Birthday occasion, so cannot grumble.
Would I go again? Given it was my second visit, clearly YES.
Our first time at 27 and we loved it. Service was super, the restaurant was cosy and the food and wine were delicious. The wine we chose was unavailable so a replacement was chosen which was more expensive but charged at the cheaper wines price - we didn’t expect this but were nicely surprised. The hostess was a total pro and the food was really fantastic; we had mains, dessert and cheese and they were all superb. Would highly recommend.
Thanks for a lovely meal.
We enjoyed the 6 course taster menu and my husband had the wine flight. Every course was delicious. Our favourite was was the french onion soup. It was hands down the most unique, best flavoured soup we had both ever eaten.
The front of house team were knowledgeable, friendly and courteous.
I highly recommend this restaurant xx
Pleasant food and service. Both starters good. Enjoyed beef main more than Mushroom Pasta. Side of Dauphinoise Potato wasn't worth having. Thought the beer list could have been a little more exciting.
Delicious food. Highlights were Mackerel starter, Diver Sole and Hake mains and both desserts! Beautifully presented and good sized portions. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented. One of our party was dairy intolerant and they accommodated her requirements brilliantly. She was very impressed!
Would definitely eat there again.
Fabulous fine dining experience in Kingsbridge - thoroughly recommended!
Excellent food on NYE first.class ! Service was brilliant too
It's important that i firstly mention how wonderful the food was, beautifully presented and a wonderful taste sensation with each dish (taster menu of 6 dishes) each one a delight. Sadly what wasn't and can only be described as a comedy act by the end was the service. We arrived to barely a welcome, the main waitress arriving after us (12pm). We initiated a drinks order and asked for our coats to be put away, menus we took ourselves from the stand by the door. We sat there for a good 20mins before we asked to be sat at our table. Taken upstairs we waited (thought there might be some bread? Alas not).
Dish 1 arrives....forgotten to tell the chef I was gluten free so bread roll removed and not replaced. No explanation of the dish albeit that came by course 4!
Dish 2 arrives, again forgotten I was gluten free so dish taken away 'edible soil' removed and given back to me.
Our neighbouring party then had a call....from the reception downstairs to ask if they were still going to make their booking, the poor chap looked totally perplexed as he replied 'yes i'm upstairs'.
I don't want to be mean, it was Christmas I have no idea what might have been going in personally in their lives but it was an utter shambles from start to finish. Not that we likely would have tipped but not having a tip function on your card machine is unusual, our bill was over £300 so unless you are carrying wadges of cash around tips I imagine are few and far between. I've ummed and arrhed over writing this for days now but I feel it's important to let you know, i hope you take it in the spirit in which it is intended. I would to return but only when you front of house is in order.
Never, ever a disappointment - food fantastic and staff warm and welcoming. We love 27 😊.
The food was absolutely amazing here- really interesting combinations of flavours. the staff were a little green, service was slow and they seemed flustered at times, but they were very friendly and helpful! Music was very loud downstairs in the bar so we wouldn't want to hang around after our meal. Overall a really nice place to go for a special occasion.
Jamie’s food is always exciting, beautifully cooked and presented. The service is professional, efficient and friendly. We were entertaining friends from the Cotswolds to Sunday lunch and they were impressed too. It’s a small restaurant and sadly there was a large and rather noisy party there at the same time making conversation on other table tricky. Perhaps the downstairs area could be set up and used as a separate party dining area? Apart from the noise an excellent dining experience.
Excellent. A jewel hidden in Kingsbridge. Worth travelling a very long way for.
Second visit, will recommend to those who will appreciate.
Would definitely recommend twenty seven, Jamie clearly has a lot of passion for his work and it's great to have somewhere different in Kingsbridge.
We were disappointed by the flavour balance in the dishes. The combinations looked good on the menu but failed to deliver. My starter of celeriac contained little celeriac but so much brulee it was too sweet and tasted more like a pudding. The combination of hake and chicken wing confit didnt work and it was all too salty. The pudding was not delicately flavoured
Great new restaurant in Kingbridge ideal for a special occasion
We all agreed one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten & excellent value for this level of dining. I love the space and it’s brilliant to have a world class restaurant in Kingsbridge. Hadn’t realised Jamie started his career at the Cricket Inn at Beesands so extra points for proper south west achievement!
It was a very pleasant evening & the food was excellent. We shall return.
Date night with hubby - half price taster menu on Tuesdays 😃. Food was great, tasted wonderful. Lighting was a bit bright, husband a lighting designer so had some ideas how it could be improved! We’ll be back 😃
Excellent food, lovely cocktails and knowledgable staff.
Would recommend for a special occasion; we had an enjoyable time.
'Lassi' mocktail was disappointing and pricey: unable to taste mango and honey; we also felt that £10 for a glass of white wine was pricey.
Disappointed by the lack of vegetables with main meal without having to pay extra for a side portion.
Music a little on the loud side; nice ambiance; personable service.
I throughly enjoyed our experience at Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers. It was for a special occasion and we were made to feel special. We went for the taster menu to give us a taste of all the dishes available without having to try and choose one. It was a good decision. All the courses were amazing, so excited to try them and look forward to the next one. I would definitely recommend.
The Sunday roast was amazing - the pork was so tender & delicious 😋, and my mackerel starter was perfect. A treat for the eyes and taste buds!
Wonderful food with great service.
Excellent quality ingredients expertly cooked. Every course was mouthwateringly good especially the beef. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble . Anniversary treat and we were surprised with a lovely card from the staff. We would highly recommend No 27 and wish Jamie and his team every success. Alison and Graham from Yorkshire x
Amazing food and service from the restaurant staff. Taster experience was fantastic and great that Jamie came to meet the customers
Food as good as ever, undoubtably the best in the west. Service is also much better than earlier visits. Great food and great value especially on a Tuesday
Brilliant food, undoubtedly the best restaurant in the Kingsbridge area. Jamie's food is imaginative and we ate items that we would normally have avoided and really enjoyed them because they were used to supplement the flavour. Definitely to be recommended.
Great meal our only feedback was that the sauce accompanying the meat dish had too much salt in which was a shame.
Apart from that an excellent meal
This was the best food we have eaten in Kingsbridge and Salcombe by far, although it isn't the cheapest
it was certainly the best, we have been to Gidleigh Park and the New Angel before and this is right
up with the best, we shall be going back.
Beautiful and delicious food, excellent cocktail, great wine and great service
Visited on Tuesday night with my partner for the six course taster menu. We were blown away by the quality of the food and service. Really creative dishes expertly prepared and delivered. Each dish was a taste delight - particularly loved the devon crab tartlet with celery root ice cream - who'd have thought that would go so well! Great wine too. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening only tainted by the couple behind us who moaned throughout about the food and the atmosphere (I think they were jealous of the great time we were having! Honestly - go to a Beefeater if you want large quantities of stodge! :-) We've already booked to return next month to treat my brother and his partner. Can't wait!
Was recommended by a friend to sample the tasting menu on a Tuesday to take advantage of their 50% offer. Was not disappointed some very interesting plates to try. Especially enjoyed the pea , wasabi and coconut soup and the beef course. Would have given a 5th star but one course had to be replaced due to ‘an accident’ and the replacement cheesecake option arrived still frozen...a small thing in an otherwise great evening. Especially with a 50% reduction.... or nearly. (£65 reduced to £35) Would definitely visit 27 again when in the area.
Another fantastic meal at Twenty Seven, faultless!!!
