Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers
Matched with quality wines and cocktails we guarantee you unforgettable experience.
The food and service were fantastic and I would definitely recommend. Nice to have somewhere to go for some beautifully prepared food.
The quality of the food and service has, on every visit we've made, been impeccable.
Tasting menu with wine pairings was a triumph. It would be a shame to have just one dish. we sampled six incredible fine dining courses for £90 with a paired glass of wine for each course. Overall one of the best tasting menus and dinners I've had in Devon. The wine pairings seemed like exceptional value too. This restaurant will go far!
In an area which isn’t blessed with fine dining destinations Twenty Seven by Jamie Rogers is a positive oasis.
We had a very good meal there on Saturday night which we were very pleased about as we had struggled to find somewhere we wanted to eat. We chose the A la Carte menu as we weren’t ready for a tasting menu but would try that on another occasion.
The menu was well constructed, the food flavoursome and beautifully presented with a small - but very well priced - wine list. I only deducted a mark for service as we were served the wrong wine but that didn’t detract from the overall experience.
The venue was full with a pleasant buzz of conversation - service was very good ( albeit why do people ask if everything is ok when you have a mouth full of food??)
I do hope that the restaurant is supported as we would live to go back when we are in the area again.
Food was fantastic - we had the 6 course tasting menu. Each dish was a delight. See you again soon.
Food was exceptional, staff friendly and attentive but probably a little more finesse required a true fine dining experience
Heard about this restaurant through a few friends. So we just had to try it for ourselves. It was my partners birthday. Cocktail on arrival was amazing!! The food was absolutely outstanding we couldn’t fault any dish!! It was all made to perfection and a work of art on the plate!!
Every mouthful burst in your mouth. With local sourced ingredients.
We will definitely return, and wish them all the best with their new adventure
Patchy is how we'd best describe the evening. Jamie can clearly cook, some of the food was delicious, but it was uneven and not all the dishes delivered on their promise. The noisette butter that went with the breads was wonderful though the breads themselves were tiny. Wood pigeon was good. Rosemary gnocchi with quails eggs didn't taste of rosemary but was otherwise a good dish. The red cabbage with white chocolate was highly recommended but awful very very sweet with no balancing acidity - though to give them credit the waiting staff took it off our bill. A passionfruit soufflé was delicious. The lighting was too bright for an evening which meant that it didn't feel relaxed and intimate and the choice of music on the playlist was dreadful. Pictures around the room were an odd selection, big pictures of food hung unevenly and crookedly, and again didn't add to the ambience. Jamie has got talent and his team were friendly, but it still needs a lot of work to make this as good as it could and should be.
Perfect food. Front of house needs attention, but we'll be back!
We all had a lovely night but felt that the lighting was dim when it came to reading the menu. We had to use our phone torches. Other than that everything was lovely. Thankyou very much.
Fantastic value for money on the 3 course menu. Wines from Berry Bros are excellent value too.
I was really looking forward to a good meal, however I was very disappointed. The welcome was friendly enough, but from then on things went downhill. Our table was squeezed in between two others (not that the restaurant was full) and five minutes after we had sat down, I was treated to a full-blown shove in the back by an elderly guest who, rather than asking about things, just pushed his chair right into me. I'm sure that the waitresses saw this, but chose to ignore it. This wasn't the fault of the restaurant so onto the food: I ordered the cod with truffle as my main and was puzzled when I couldn't see or smell any truffle. Upon asking I was told that a very little had been mixed in with the mashed potato, but only a little so not surprising that I didn't taste it!!!!! I can see how this restaurant could be good, but I'm afraid that my experience wasn't good.
Really enjoyed the taster menu!
This was our 6th visit to 27 and it is still the best restaurant for miles around. Jamie obviusly has a passion for his craft and you certainly see that reflected by what is served to your table. It is expensive, but it is fine dining. On this visit though I don't think i t was that good value even for fine dining. We ordered some bread while we waited for our first course. for £4 we got two of the tiniest little pieces of bread I have ever seen, however they were delicious. For the main course I order the venison. For £24 I would hoped for a little more than the two two tiny slices I received on my plate. Finally, on this visit the music was far too loud and not at all conducive to fine dining. I suspect the volume it was played at and the choice of what was played, was more about entertaining the staff rather than enhancing the atmosphere for the paying guests, a fact confirmed by friends who visited the following day. Everyone I know wants 27 to suceed so these comments are offered in that spirit. Let's hope when we visit again next week, the music is a little a quieter so we can concentrate on enjoying the food with slightly larger helpings.
Rushed service. Started off badly when invited to have a predinner drink downstairs then told had to be at our table up stairs even though we were 10 mins early.
Had 5 course menu and 5 sets of cutlery laid up. Had first 3 course then our knives and forks were cleared and then informed next course was not a main but sorbet. For the relatively small amount of difference in money between 5 and 7 course, the lack of a main course was odd.
Wine glasses were removed before anywhere finished, and courses were rushed. When we queried this, were told tables had been double booked with new booking system, hence the rush to get our table empty. Very disappointed with our experience. Offered full refund but this wasn't the point, we wanted to enjoy our third Valentine's together. Romantic occasion ruined.
Fantastic food on our doorstep. Beautiful to look at, and 100% delicious. Can’t wait to go back.
Fantastic food with creative menu, we will be back!
Genuinely outstanding food, a pleaaant place to be, impeccable service and great value too! My new favourite place to eat.
The welcome experience could have been better we were given drinks menu only when seated at our table, service slow due to an apparent shortage of staff although those staff tried very hard to please. Had to wait too long to pay the bill , overall food was good but let down by the overall service. This was our second visit hope this feedback helps you.
