Located at Notting Hill Gate, ULI offers a fresh, honest approach to Asian cuisine. Natural limed oak, soft tones of blue and contemporary art give the restaurant a clean and informal look, highlighted by a hanging garden of pendant lights. Our menu encompasses carefully selected dishes from Asia, all prepared using traditional Chinese, Thai, Malay and Singaporean disciplines. We believe that Asian food should be clean, fresh and healthy, and that each dish should always be made from scratch.
Originally established on the All Saints Road in 1997, ULI became a firm favourite among locals and critics alike. At its new home ULI serves lunch and dinner all week as well as an extensive range of snacks, cocktails and beverages.
Thoroughly recommend going here.. my local and I enjoy the food... simple but affordable and at lunch less noisy than a Friday night. Food- quality of is good. I will come here again and again...
The Sea bass fillet, steamed with ginger and garlic, was lacking in flavour. Even when taking a spoonful of the sauce on its own, the flavour was barely discernable. The fish serving was also very small in size.
The Pad Thai was fine - not outstanding, but fine.
The cheesecake for dessert, while said to be freshly made, was still half frozen when served, which was disappointing.
Overall while the ambience was lovely, the food quality compared to the pricing just did not stack up, and I would not visit again.
Service was prompt and helpful with menu selection. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and allowed for conversation. Overall we enjoyed ULI and would come back.
The ambience and decor at ULI are lovely, although it was a bit noisy for me as a single diner the night I visited. The staff were charming and friendly and the service was excellent. However, the food I chose wasn’t great - gyoza were over cooked/ too crunchy with a not very subtle flavour and pad Thai was very very salty. I may have done better with other choices, there is lots else on the menu which other diners seemed to be enjoying.
The location, the setting, furnishings, style, service and food & drink are all 5 star..the food 5star plus...
The only thing that lets this restaurant down is the deliveroo or whatever motorcyclists standing right outside the front door resulting in both a waft of cigarette smoke from them and or a draft with the door being opened very regularly by staff to give them take out meals for delivery... So a table not on the route of the front door is a good option!
I will still definitely recommend Uli but wish delivery meals could be given from a different access point.
Very mediocre food which was a shame as the ambience and style of the restaurant is lovely. Given the great choice available in London, we won't be back.
Don’t visit unless you are physically perfect.
I had booked Saturday lunch at Uli.
I became disabled two years ago and though I am often bound to my wheelchair I have been so touched by people’s consideration and respect. It has not proved to be the end of my world.
However on Saturday I had the worst experience I have known at Uli, which advertises itself as wheelchair friendly.
We arrived at the time booked, 12.30. There were no staff visible so my partner had to leave me in the street and find a member of staff to help. I had expected them to return with a wheelchair ramp but instead it was a very slight Asian girl who managed to hold one of the double doors open. There was plenty of space and two deep steps . Why was there no ramp? I was bumped and pulled to arrive backwards in the restaurant. It was really upsetting. I felt like a freak.
We ordered. The food was indifferent and over priced but by then I had no appetite. A man who I presumed was the manager came over to check everything was okay and apologise for the lack of wheelchair access. Apparently they are in dispute with their next door neighbour’s property involved so cannot use a narrow side door. Why should I enter a restaurant via a cramped ‘disabled’ entrance? Everywhere else I have eaten has treated me as a valued client arriving at the main doorway. I did ask why they didn’t have a ramp as it would have solved the difficulty for my partner and I upon arriving. He told me they were having one made for the front door. I was so deflated by the entire experience I didn’t have the confidence to complain.
We left within an hour.During that time a man with a walking frame arrived and had to go through the same humiliation as me to enter.
I left as I arrived being bumped down the steps with the only help being a waiter holding the door.
What was meant to be a special lunch was ruined by there attitude to the disabled.
What sort of people run a restaurant with that attitude?
Give Uli a miss
Lovely restaurant, tucked away in side street but close to Notting Hill Gate transport links. Indoor and outdoor seating, tasteful decor, and lovely food. Only slight negative is that it's quite expensive.
Lovely restaurant wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.
Rude manager. Average food for high prices. Wouldn't go back.
Great i will come Back.
Im not fro uk i will recommend it
Textbook impeccable service - we were really well looked after. Food also delicious! Lovely outdoor terrace. Clean decor inside.
I was really looking forward to trying Uli and ended up very disappointed by the hurried and patronizing service.
The pros: I arrived a few minutes early and was seated right away. The decor was pretty. The food was okay, except for the strange dark stringy bit on top of one of the chive and prawn dumplings.
The cons: The host was patronizing, perhaps because I turned down his suggestion of crispy calamari, perhaps because I was the only solo female diner. While I was waiting for the fried soft shell crab to cool, he told me to eat it right away as it would otherwise crumble; of course, when I did, it was still too hot. The first dish was whisked away while there was still food on it and without my being asked if I was finished with it. I had planned to order another dish or dessert but felt so rushed that I decided to skip it and go to the nearby gelateria instead. The check was slow in coming and when I requested that the service charge be removed, the server resisted, saying it had already gone through.
Food was average. We ordered edamame beans which were just steamed and had no flavour except some rock salt (we had to ask for more salt too), spring rolls were nice and fresh. Mains were ok.
Staff were kinda rude and disinterested and service was slow.
Restaurant is pretty with the outdoor terrace but tables are packed very closely together.
Overall ok but I wouldnt go again or recommend to anyone.
Been here several times...obviously a returning customer is a good indication of the quality of the food 😊 The service is ok, but they seem to have waiting staff that are not very experienced so service can be a bit hit and miss. Food makes up for it though
Brilliant food. Spectacular surroundings. Service impeccable. Would absolutely recommend this gem.
Excellent Thaï cuisine, very nice venue with a fabulous terrace
Normally I love this place but that day everything was extremely fried and didn’t taste like normal. Also the facilities were dirty.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us and we are sorry to hear we let you down on your last visit. We very much hope you'll return and that you'll not experience the same lowlights as you did on 30 June. Warmest wishes, All at ULI
Great Food. Great Service. Had a fantastic experience. Will be back soon!
Thank you so much! We really hope you'll visit us again and really do appreciate your kindest feedback. Warmest wishes, All at ULI
I have been going to Uli for several months and this time was the most disappointing.
Service was erratic and the quality of food not as good as before.
Was this to do with a very busy evening? who knows?
One thing for sure avoid eating inside and better outside in the terrace part of restaurant which is quieter.
We were put besides a table of 8 and it seemed like a rock concert.
Also, dont give us the bill when we have not even asked for it!
Overall on this occasion, failed to deliver as before in terms of service and quality of food.
We are so sorry to hear that we let you down on your recent visit and very much hope you'll join us again to see that this experience was an anomaly. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we hope to see you soon. Warmest wishes, All a ULI
Service was great, plenty of staff but they weren’t in your face. Food was fantastic and the Rose wine was to die for. Lovely evening, will definitely be returning!
Thank you so much for the kindest feedback. We really hope to see you again soon. Thanks and warmest wishes from All at ULI
Table wasn’t ready when we arrived
Asked to wait for excessive time
Thank you for letting us know. We apologise that you were unable to experience ULI and that you had to wait. Warmest wishes, All at ULI
Really good service and ambience. The food was delicious but would have expected bigger portions.
Thank you so much for your kind words; We are just sorry that the portions didn't live up to your expectations and hope this didn't mar your overall enjoyment of the occasion. Warmest wishes from us all at ULI
Lovely food and wonderful setting. However £7 for 2 spring rolls is overpriced. But overall a nice eve out.
Thank you so much for your feedback which we will of course take onboard. We are thrilled you had a great night otherwise and hope to see you again soon. Warmest wishes, from all at ULI
good food and nice service
Thank you so much for sharing your kindest feedback. We really ope to see you at ULI again soon. Warmest wishes, All at ULI

Thank you so much for your kindest words and we are thrilled you enjoy the food. We have added additional heaters since your visit, so hopefully you will not experience a chill in the winter months again, We hope to see you soon. Warmest wishes from us all at ULI
Delightful, tasty pan-Asisn food. Delightful waitress. Wine could be cheaper
Thank you so much for taking the time to review ULI and for your kind words. We very much hope to see you again soon. Warmest wishes from the ULI team
Fantastic food, at a fairly expensive price but for the area, ambience and overall experience it's worth it. The service was attentive but could have been more personal.
Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to share your feedback and let us know where we fell short. We very much hope to welcome you again with a further enhanced experience. Warmest wishes, All at ULI
Good food but over inflated prices.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry you felt our price-point was too high but would like to reassure you that we don't compromise on using the best fresh produce or paying our team a fair wage without losing sight of offering our guests true value. We very much hope to welcome you again soon. With many thanks, All at ULI
Very nice selection of food on the menu. we ate outside on the terrace in March, which was nice and warm, with the side heaters. Bit bright inside the restaurant - terrace a lot nicer.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us and for your kindest of words. We very much hope to welcome you again soon. All the best from the team here at ULI
Great neighborhood Chinese/Asian place. Been quite a few times, good prices, tasty food and nice atmosphere.

Thank you so much for such high praise! We really hope to see you again soon. Warmest wishes from all at ULI
We had booked but were sitting by the door and
there were deliveroo pick ups on average every 2 minutes
We are so sorry to hear about your experience at ULI and hope that you'll consider visiting us again where we'll ensure you aren't seated near a door if you let us know you'd prefer to be seated away from it. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Warmest wishes, All at ULI
Excellent as always
A great local restaurant in Notting Hill
Thank you so much for your kindest of feedback. We really hope to see you many times again. Warmest wishes from All at ULI
Over priced average food. Ambience excellent. Service good.
Very good food and brilliant service from the staff.
Service is good enough but every dish is so salty.
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere & a warm welcome from the manager. Thank you for another lovely evening at Uli.
Made a post theatre booking for 2245. After having it confirmed, the restaurant rang at 2145 in the day of the booking to say the kitchen was closing at 2230 and we needed to arrive and order by then if we wanted the booking. We didn’t get the message as were in the theatre by the time they called so arrived at the restaurant just past 2230, where we were refused service and told to go home. Don’t understand why the restaurant and opentable are making and confirming bookings they have no intention of honouring. It spoiled what had been a lovely evening up until then.
Pretty, if noisy and narrow (I stopped counting how many times the waiters bumped into my chair) room, with a terrace upfront. Decent menu on paper but execution and prices reek of Notting Hill tourist trap. We should have left the restaurant immediately when I realised that the prices in the restaurant are up to 50% higher than what is shown on Opentable and that they call their prawn crackers, lobster crackers. Seeing a Nonya (ie Peranakan) dish on the menu we decided to stay. This turned out a simple chilli sauce and when I questioned it, I got the answer that this is the Thai version. Brilliant! The Thai version of an indigenous Malay dish. I am looking forward to the British version using Bisto or Marmite next time. Credit to the waiter who took it back and brought fresh [warm] rice when the alternative order arrived. Several of our dishes were rather sweet. I am happy to pay for location, as long as the food is up to it. This isn’t.
