Lovely food but can become quite pricey with a number of small plates. Would recommend and will return.
Food was really good! Unfortunately had a problem with my dish but they sorted it. we went to celebrate my partners b-day and they were very attentive and decorated the table and brought out a celebratory dessert with a candle. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely go again!
This is my second time visiting this restaurant as I loved it the first time. But this time I asked for a prawn and chicken rice dish but instead of the prawn beef. A few minutes after the ordering the winter came back to explain they could not do that and the manager seemed angry at the request, it was fine I just picked another dish but was quite disappointed by the reaction and the later feeling of people thinking I was a difficult customer at a simple request.
Food was ok- portion sizes smaller than expected, Ordered 10 pancakes as per menu but only 6 delivered...
My husband and I had the most perfect experience. The service was exceptional with attentive and knowledgeable staff. We were expertly guided through the menu and were not disappointed with the recommendations. The food was cooked to perfection and so beautifully presented. Whilst I wouldn’t normally have dessert, I had lemongrass sorbet which was a taste sensation! My husband and I will most certainly be back. Thank you for this remarkable dining experience. Food was delicious, but the service was horrible. Lot of mistakes and no communication between the waiters.
Our first visit and it was very enjoyable. The service was attentive and waiters were well-informed. The food was very good and the menu quite extensive too!
I really enjoyed the food and the service. Will be back to try some more of the menu
Enjoyable Birthday treat meal. Friendly efficient staff ,good food and drink.
Quick and good service. Explained that dishes arrive as cooked - good price in restaurant week 2 courses for £10
Lovely food, lovely staff and fast service! What more do you need?
Nice place great staff very good service food very nice and cocktails even better
Great food at a decent price. Definitely will go again
Good quality food and good value for money.
The food is lovely but we went for crispy beef which for some ridiculous reason is only available until 5:30. Then they didn't have something else we wanted to order. Finally they don't sell beer on draft which the waiter explains is because they "aren't a bar". It doesn't stop them selling pint bottles of beer for £8 each.
Everything was great.
Except manager accusing our group of being too drunk. Granted she came over and apologised but should of read the situation better in the first place.
Felt like we couldn’t have fun whilst having a meal with friends. If we was being too loud just ask us to be quiet rather then accuse us of being drunk.
Excellent food, service and will definitely be coming back!
1st time visit but won't be the last. Great food and great service.
Delicious food and huge helpings ! Excellent value for money
Food is really good.
Portions are big but maybe a bit too big, especially if you're doing the multi-course offers.
Crispy beef was really good.
I had the duck udon noodles which were nice but the noodles had a strange starchy texture like they hadn't been rinsed properly.
I was disappointed that you couldn't just get a single serving of the Umeshu, the only option was to pay £25 for a full bottle which at 1 in the afternoon I wasn't quite ready for. Would probably sell more if they let people buy single servings.
Overall a nice place. We got lucky with seats at the back out of the way with a nice view, but I can imagine if you're out the front you'd be sick as it was quite noisy.
The food was Devine and I have no faults with the staff, they were lovely. I was there for my birthday meal and they looked after my family and I perfectly
Food is delicious and really reasonably priced, I definitely recommend eating here!
Really good service, excellent food, brilliant value. No complaints at all.
A really good value restaurant. Food was tasty and hot and fresh. 5 of us loved it and 1 of the group found it a bit spicy.
This was our first visit to Umai Mi, we visited as a family of 3 at 1pm on a Saturday. We were greeted very warmly and taken to a lovely booth for lunch. As the menu is extensive, one of the staff (Harry) took us through the menu and gave us suggestions regarding the quantity of food we should order so as not to order too much/too little. The food comes to you when it is ready and it all came very quickly and was incredibly tasty and fresh. we had Korean Chicken, a sizzling platter, chicken katsu, duck bao and salmon/tuna sushi, as well as prawn crackers. I had red lotus cocktail which was fab and we had a range of other drinks too. The whole experience was great and we will certainly be back. As previously mentioned the menu is extensive and we are all looking forward to trying some of the other food. Our bill was only around £99 which I think is great value. Highly recommend.
Delicious food with a diverse menu. All staff were polite and attentive. Design and atmosphere superb, none intrusive, made for a chilled, cool dining experience.
We visited umai mi for the first time this weekend but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The food was great but the service really let it down.
Firstly when we arrived they couldn't find our reservation, this was rectified and we were offered another table but I then received an email asking me why I didn't turn up. We ordered drinks and food, the waitress asked for us to use the numbers on the menu when ordering but then was unable to read our order back to us because she had done this. It seemed like this just occured to her as she did it. It wasn't a problem though...
Our starters arrived and were lovely. Half way through eating the starters my main arrived but no one else's. I was asked if I wanted to keep it or for it to go in the back till we were ready for it. I wasn't really happy that my main would have to sit with me or sit in the back, i would have liked it prepared to be ready to eat with the other diners.
I think it took around an hour for our starter plates to be taken away once we were finished. This only happened after we told a waitress we were finished and then only half of the plates were cleared, the rest of the dirty plates sitting on the table for the remainder of our meal.
After finishing our meal the waitress came to clear the plates. She cleared one and then did not return to the table, we were there for at least a further half hour.
The only speedy service was when a waiter took our payment.
Overall, we enjoyed the food but the service was so poor that I don't think any of us would return. It seems like such a shame.
Also the baby changing table is ridiculously low!!! I have no idea why? I am 5"4 and the table was only above my knee. It would have been easier to change my child while sat on the toilet or kneeling down rather than stood up.
Great food and really good staff. Lovely views out the back over Old Eldon square.
Can't fault a thing . Food perfect service brilliant, in fact utter perfection!
Our first visit and we had some great food. Myself and my girlfriend had the Katsu Chicken, a dish we are both partial to and it was very enjoyable.
The service we received was very unprofessional. We were also very disapppointed with the food, the 'spicy' items were mild, the beef shin was fatty, chewy and required more cooking and the ramen broth had no depth of flavour and could use a serious acidic zing. I write this review in the hope that it will be taken constructively, we are a big fan of Nudo but I cannot see this restaurant succeeding when nudo, wagamama, shijo and even chaopraya two doors down offer a much better experience.
Lovely food though Ramen to salty
Staff did not give names nor came to see if food alright or if further drinks were required. Did enquire when meal finished.
Overall clean, tidy quiet atmosphere.
Amazing food. Had a lovely private table. Service was speedy and the food came out quickly. No complaints at all and will be back.
I went for restaurant week, ordered the sushi starter, chicken donburi, and green tea baowich. All very nice and tasty, all I would say is the lemon zest on the sushi I wasn't keen on, but everything else was delicious. Waiters and service was very good. Definitely want to come back to try the normal menu.
Great food and nice atmosphere. Prefect for business lunches.
Lovely food and fantastic service. Would defibarely go again. Would recommend fish and chips or sizzlers to others.
Fantastic food and first class service. Will be back.
good tasting food. Service as expected. Someof food could do with better discriptions
Nice try. Good choices for vegetarians & vegans as well. Keep it up
