the New Umberto's Pizza Restaurant
Dinner out while vacationing.. the music and dancing was fun to listen to and watch while dining. It was a different type of dinner outing but definitely fun. The food was good from appetizers to desserts.
Good home style cooking, good service, and fair prices.
Good local Italian food!!!
Great food and service. First time at this place.
Totally love it, went two times in a row with my big family.
Perfect for big family gatherings.
The best dish is the Parmigianna Eggplant ( Melanzane de Parmigianna).
Service was slow. Beverage options were limited. Bread and food were luke warm. Section we were in was very hot, like there was no AC.
Great food! HUGE portions. Great service and we will go back for sure!
Let’s just say the changes were not for the better. Food was rather bland and just not very good. I won’t be back.
Food and service was very good...but unfortunately like most restaurants in today’s environment was pretty empty...
Veal Francese was divine, as was the Spaghetti Bolognese. Love all their dinner dishes AND Grandma's Pizza!!!! Love the food here - yummmm now, just thinking about our next meal...
This was my first time eating at this restaurant and couldn’t be happier. Great food and service.
I’ll definitely come back
COVID has the place on slow but the food was great and the service was stellar. Can't wait to go back!
Umberto’s was delicious as always. It has been 2 years since we ate here and the food is as good as ever. The restaurant has been freshened up and is more inviting. Our waitress was incredible and was very attentive. Overall an excellent dining experience. We always come here when we are on vacation and will definitely continue to do so.
Restaurant may be “new” as in new owner, but it is tired! Don’t let the pictures fool you.
I had snapper oreganata that was light and flaky and tasted great. My friend had a grandma's pizza that was delicious. We enjoyed the music of Tim Bluntson who kept everyone on the dance floor.
Food is always delicious. I never order meals with tomato sauce in a restaurant but I will eat it at Umberto's. Our server, Layla, was friendly, attentive and anticipated our needs. The band was Memory Lane and they perform a great variety of music and interact with the crowd.
I went on a Saturday night I have reservations I tried to tell the woman who is the owner that I have a reservation at 6:30 she was I think overwhelmed with a party in the back she just brought me to the back room and gave me menus she came back again I tried to tell her again and she just said yeah okay I was a little iffy with the service but I guess they were all very very overwhelmed and that shouldn't happen when you have people coming to your restaurant the food excellent when I left I had to stop someone to please let them know that I had a reservation on OpenTable I would definitely go back again hoping that this time the owner is a little more respectful of the people coming in I'm sure she is on a normal base but I think she just I don't know the whole place was overwhelmed
It was Christmas Eve and the place was crazy busy. There should have been another couple of waiters. The waiter needed a bus person to help. Food was not great, but not bad. We couldn’t get bar service as we wanted. We’ll give it another try on a less busy night. The Bacala special was fabulous but overpriced. The Zappa de Pesci had way overcooked seafood but the sauce was good. They had said there would be live music when I made the reservation but there was none.
Since the new management took over I've been trying different sauces. Last night I had chicken marsala that was perfect! The chicken was tender and the sauce was delicious. Just the right amount of marsala to give the sauce its flavor without being overpowering. Memory Lane was the band and they are always enjoyable with a good variety of music.
Had a great time on Wednesday Italian music dancing singing it was like going to an Italian wedding I loved it
Awesome food and awesome service, plus a fantastic singer Tim!
We order chicken parmigiana. There was barely and sauce on the food. There were two cutlets both were over cooked and dry. We spoke to the manager and instead of removing the price of the dinners from the bill he sent a slice of chocolate cake to the table. When we told the waitress we didn't want the cake instead of taking it away she just said it was on the house and left.
If it hadn't been for the show (Memory Lane) that was scheduled that night we would have left but the show was very good.
Good food, great service. We went on a Wednesday, with the live entertainment. It really sounded Italian.
Thank you Mike for your nice review.
Delicious food, large portions and reasonably priced. Full bar. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great entertainment on the outdoor patio. New owners really making a difference!
The food very good , as always , the service however was a bit chaotic.. multiple people coming to the table to take our order, then seeming very confused when told someone already had. It was expectedly busy for a Saturday night but the food seemed to take longer than usual ... but was great so I guess worth the wait.
Dear Anonymous, You are absolutely right! That particular Saturday night was a bit chaotic. We recently took over Umberto's and that night we got a rush of people that came in for the music and dancing and I kept asking guests if they got their order taken, as I didn't want our diners to be overlooked. My apologies, and I hope you return once again, for our delicious food. My best, Katherine (co-owner)
So Sorry. I was very disappointed in our meal. After all of the years we had been going to the original Umberto's we will not return. Calamari was tough and chewy. Pizza was cold. Escarole was good.
Dear Madd, I checked into this, and found out two things. It wasn't that busy the night you joined us. You asked the server to make the calamari well done, often when calamari is cooked too long, it get's chewy. Sorry things were not to your liking, but we do hope you change your mind, and give us another chance. We've only been managing the restaurant for 1 month, so we are having some growing pains. We are doing our best. Our apologies again.
Umberto's is now the New Umberto's and absolutely wonderful. The food is really delicious. I had the best shrimp francese I've had in years. Our server, Gino, was attentive and accurate in spite of being very busy. We were delighted to listen to the music of Memory Lane and Umberto's is planning to have live music on a regular basis. They have a nice size dance floor and ample parking.
Thank you for your glowing review.
Highly recommend...Food was excellent, but service was outstanding! Andre was an exceptional server!
Birthday party of ten. Everyone felt like they were the only one being served. Staff was wonderful.
Excellent food and service. Our table was visited twice by management to see if everything was going okay. Seated quickly, served promptly, and at a reasonable price. Would recommend if anywhere near Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano.
Food was good, but don't know what happened with the service. One of my party waited an hour for their drink. Overall extremely slow service.
The food and service were excellent - our first time...we will be back!
Took the family here while visiting from out of town. Having been to the new youth Umberto’s numerous times i was expecting the same delicious Italian food. The pizza was as good as it is in NY, but the rest of the food fell short. Both the chicken Parmesan and Nona’s meatballs were dry and tasteless. The Marsala was also tough and the eggplant was too thick. The tiramisu was however very creamy and quite good per my nephew.
Our waitress was very sweet but the service was definitely on the slow side. Overall not bad, but not the same as the NY Umberto’s.
The food was very good. The service great. The entertainment- Roy Michalew was wonderful, but the music room needs to be air conditioned and the crowd needs to respect the singer and stop talking amongst themselves . All in all, it was a fun night.
Horrible we never received service once we were seated. Trying to get someone’s attention was impossible. I left the table to approach the reception stand and their I again waited for someone’s attention after a few minutes I asked someone walking by that we were seated and no one had acknowledged our existence. She assured me we would be approached immediately. I went back to the table waited again and nothing. At which point my party left an on the way out told the maitre of our experience and his indifference about the situation spoke volumes as to why it is mismanaged. We will never think about trying this restaurant now or in the future I suggest you avoid as well Open table please rescind the 100 points you awarded us. We never are at the restaurant I want nothing from this establishment
Looking for a new pizzeria. We found it! Food was great and fresh. Our server Bailey was very attentive and prompt.
Everything was fine. The only comment I have is your gluten-free pasta is $1 more per serving that other area restaurants.
Only thing that saved the place was the music and an Italuan neighborhood-like ambiance. The food was almost inedible. For example, the pasta was lukewarm, dry, overcooked, little sauce and flavorless. I could go on, but why bother?
The greatest lots of fun Great food and music
