This private club is a quiet respite from city noise. Excellent view from up high 32nd floor. Nice to let this be my last dinner while visiting Boston. Do as I did go with the clam chowder as the appetizer and the burger as the main entrée. The only negative is a longer than expected wait downstairs to be cleared by security before the elevator ride up.
I will be back for my next visit to the city.
As a UMASS alum, my husband and I wanted to explore the new location and possibly become a member, network, and leverage the facilities for future business meetings. While the 360 views on the 32nd floor overlooking Boston were terrific, the service and quality of food fell short. To begin:
•Security didn’t have our name on the list despite advanced reservations
•We wanted to get more information about becoming a member and was told to email someone in sales. It would have been an excellent opportunity to upsell the facilities while we were there at that moment. The host didn’t seem very interested in even talking with us or providing a 2-minute tour/overview. Note: It was NOT busy at all. She was more preoccupied with her phone than engaging with us.
•The quality of food was inconsistent. The sous-chef who cooked our appetizers was on-par! In fact, we were very impressed. Our main dishes, on the other hand, prepared by the chef. Not so thrilling. The steak was cooked to my temperature preference; however, very dry.
•The fish special tasted like it went bad over a week ago, so we sent it back. Once the bill came, we had to ask for a manager to remove the charges. We shouldn’t have to ask.
•We indicated in our reservations notes that we were celebrating a special occasion, my birthday. Our server didn’t even acknowledge or make us feel special. He clearly didn’t read our reservation details.
As a result of this experience, we’d be embarrassed to take clients here and are no longer considering becoming members. The staff seemed stuffy. We would return for a cocktail to enjoy the views (once COVID restrictions are lightened), but that’s about it.
Great view. Feels very special. The menu selections were excellent and the food well prepared.
Food was fair. Wasn’t that late, and the cleaning and prep work done around the dining room made it seem as though it was a Market Basket and they were stocking the shelves.
Thanks for services. My colleagues enjoyed the atmosphere very much. I would like to revisit there.
Excellent environment, view of Boston, and food - I highly recommend it!
Loved it at the UMass Club! Service was awesome and the menu created by the new chef was delicious!
Spectacular view accompanied by quiet, classy ambiance and great food.
As an alumni, I have attended a couple of events at the Club that were University sponsored and they served hors d'oeuvres. This was my first opportunity to book it for dinner for my family. From when we were seated to the end of the night, the service was top notch. The food was very good as well. The view on that night was awesome. I will definitely be back.
We loved the UofMass Club!! BEAUTIFUL view of Boston, went at sunset. THE only thing people need to know is 1 Beacon is under construction and it was really hard to see how to get into the building and noone seemed to know how.
The service is fantastic, the cost reasonable and Saturday evening on a beautiful night was wonderful. I had wine, my husband had a great cocktail: a manhattan with fig sweet vermouth. My venison chop with cherry sauce was sublime, and my husband's gnocci was also delicious. Dessert was wonderful and there are nice after dinner drinks as well. I split a GOdiva martini. Plan on going back next Boston trip!
We had a wonderful dinner at the UMass Club. It's the best view in Boston. The food and the service were great. Overall an excellent experience.
Beautiful view.
The view makes it a quieter and cheaper version of Top of the Hub. I love it!
The view was excellent. The food was good, not great. The service was only adequate. They were short handed and the chef was off, but overall it was a nice experience.
Only discovered this hidden gem while looking for a restaurant near Beacon Hill- was delighted with the cuisine, service and spectacular city views! A bonus is that parking is available in the garage 32 floors below!
Great food and cocktails. Fantastic view. Outstanding service. Highly recommend. Wine list limited, needs improvement.
wonderful place - great food - we loved it very much
Although the view is spectacular, we visited on a Saturday evening to an almost empty room. The food was definitely in the 'institutional catering' rather than restaurant-like - although charged at restaurant prices. Service was wonderfully attentive. Would have liked to have not been the only diners (eventually a table of 10 joined), but the food was so average that we'd not go back for a second chance...
Beautiful view of Boston. The food was great, the atmosphere was great. A really fun night!
Great food and service not to mention the best view in town! An undiscovered gem.
Great view of Boston from the 32nd floor. Service was excellent, food was great.
Tables were spaced appropriately. Highly recommend it.
Food and Ambiance were excellent. Great view and quiet so 4 could talk without raising our voices.
Wonderful date night celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. They even put a little candle on dessert! The staff are always superb, the food was delicious and the view is breathtaking. This is one of the hidden gems in the city.
The food was great! Portions were appropriate. We left satisfied and not uncomfortably full. The view is great and the wait staff was fantastic, very helpful. I will definitely go back and highly recommend it.
What a great place! This private club opened to the public on the weekends and what a find this was! Our meal was FANTASTIC, from my frisée salad with duck to scallops as an entree, everything was done to perfection! My husband had the lobster and corn beignets and a salmon entree, both of which were also done to perfection. The hostess was lively and our waiter was friendly. And on top of all of this was the very reasonable priced menu. The magnificent view of Boston was very beautiful and I am thrilled they opened this up to the public!!
As devoted OpenTable users, we jumped at making a reservation when the UMass club was added to the restaurant listing. Turns out we were their first reservation!
Neither my boyfriend or I are UMass graduates, but we still very much appreciated the space. Modern and spacious, with a million dollar view of the harbour and the city of Boston. The food was fantastic (I got the lobster popover, which was unique for me, and a delicious plate of pillow-soft potato gnocchi), and the cocktails were wonderfully crafted. All service and admin charges (fairly priced) were included in the bill, which we appreciated as that took the guess work out of the bill.
Not to mention the top notch service, and team of attentive and gracious host and serving staff.
Wonderful date night, we're looking forwards to returning and trying the desserts next time!
