I am flabbergasted as to how good the food was. We had two pizzas, side salads and a tiramisu for dessert. I have honestly not tasted anything quite this good in a restaurant since going vegan 3 years ago. In addition the service was great - we were running late and the kitchen waited for us and every exchange with staff members was positive and engaging. So happy we’ve discovered the Spartan Vegan! 🌱
I felt the food could have been somewhat more adventurous.
Surprising lack of green vegetables given its a vegan restaurant on the sides of our meals. Felt like we were eating unhealthily.
Quite expensive but the food did taste good, service was great !
Very pleasant experience, food outstanding will be coming again
Our first visit. Took the kids and a strictly carnivore husband! It’s a lovely spacious restaurant with modern decor and pleasant relaxing music playing. Food was delicious, even my husband enjoyed it! I really wish them all the best and hope they survive in the current climate.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and service! I truly recommend to anyone who is into eating superb vegan, healthy food👌
Never been to a vegan restaurant before and it was really nice. We were there for date night and we both enjoyed it
Food is delicious. Well presented with the look and taste of dishes of a gourmet restaurant. Definetely will visit it again.
Excellent food and service. We had the Sunday lunch buffet. A large selection of freshly prepared vegan food. It was delicious.
My first visit to a vegan restaurant but not the last. You almost converted me in becoming a vegan!
Best restaurant ever and delicious food! After eating here I found out they appeared in top 30 vegan restaurants in the UK in The Times. Keep up the good work and maybe you will get into top 10! Such a positive addition to Hemel!
Such good food and the staff is lovely, too bad I can t go there too often. Manager told me they will start deliveries soon! Yeyyy!
Service wasn’t great took 3 attempts to even get drinks! The fries or wedges were far too oily. Burger was okay that was about it about the whole experience. Overly priced for basically an oily lunch. Won’t be going back.
So great to have a local restaurant where I can eat everything on the menu! There were two of us, weekday evening, about 8 other groups but its a big place so felt quiet. Lovely decor, open, bright, natural feel. Great lighting! On ground floor of open air shopping centre so parking is a bit difficult if you don't know the area. Suggest 'Marlowes' car park is the nearest. Food was good basic everyday fare, soups and pates, burgers, pizzas, pasta etc and a massive selection of desserts! We had the soup (garlicky but wonderfully creamy), Spartan burger (loaded with relishes and a real mouthful!) and the Snickers dessert (one between two is ample!!). All delicious, well prepared, right temperature, served quickly. What more could you want. Oh and the prices aren't bad either! Would get 5 stars but I reserve that only for very special ocassions!
When we arrived we was greeted immediately, our orders were taken and we waited a long time for the food to arrive, thought that the service was extremely slow but friendly, waited a long time again to be served between courses, even though the staff was not rushed off their feet nor was the restaurant full, when the meal arrived on my table i found it to be luke warm & both were served on a cold plate, apologies were given from the waiter himself, the second meal attempt arrived and found the meal this time to be stodgy, we ordered a desert, and waited again for a considerable length of time to arrive, nice presented but both deserts were frozen and wasn't fored out properly so we was unable to eat straight away! When the bill came we notified a member of staff of our not adequate food received and didn't receive a goodwill discount and we had to pay the bill in full.
We visited Vegan Spartan on a Thursday night.
Great concept - no meat, no sugar, no alcohol etc - but service very poor. We felt very sorry for our waitress who apologised for being new, not knowing the menu and not having very good English.
Throughout the meal, we had to constantly look over our shoulder to try to catch a server's attention. Our dessert was served still frozen and we were told to wait a few minutes before trying to eat - we had already waited for approx 10 mins for the food to come out at this stage.
I told the manager/ owner when I paid that we felt the waitress needed support. The response was she was on trial and maybe not working out. I suggested she needed some help understanding the menu and training on process of serving/ checking with customers. I don't feel my comments were properly heard and just came back to the fact she was on trial.
NO - you took a young girl in to serve your customers (on a trial basis) but it is your responsibility to support and train her. Futhermore, it was not busy and you could have checked on the tables and customers to make sure it was a good experience yourself.
As for food, the cream cashews as a starter were lovely and pasta bolognese was very good too. However, the burger was horrible - I only ate half. The desserts were sickly sweet (I have a very sweet tooth) and we only ate a little.
Because of the poor service, the uneaten food went unnoticed ie we weren't asked what we thought of it.
I came up to pay and your credit card machine wasn't working - you suggested we walk down the road to a cash point.
There was also a couple who came and sat at the piano - great we thought, some live music... but sadly no, the young man spent quite a while doing what we thought was warming up and then left with a takeaway. The warming up was rather annoying.
I really hope the service improves but would not go back after yesterday's experience.
We enjoyed our food but the restaurant was suffering from items out of stock and technology not working ie no coffee machine, no soya milk, no card payments.
New, airy and modern. Some lovely things for the buffet lunch.
Service was half good half slightly odd as we were one of two tables to start with, all smiles and lovely, but left waiting for a while for our water and plates when we ordered the buffet. The staff decided to re group tables alinsted of giving us the plates we needed. Anyway. Nothing awful just a bit absent minded.
Will return, lots of others turned up for lunch too btw. We just started early.
Had to drop 1 star on something because the coffee machine was dead. But, yes! a most unexpected treat in Hemel Hampstead. I would expect this place to be a swanky part of London.
This was our first visit and it was great! Location is good, plenty of parking nearby. Ambience is great, very spacious, staff lovely, service is speedy, food is SUPER delicious and prices are good! All in all a great restaurant! Will be going back! Next time going to try the £15 all you can eat buffet! Yes, only £15! Cant wait! :))
We had the all-you-can-eat buffet, as it was our first visit, we wanted to try a variety of dishes. The food did not disappoint, totally delicious. It was also very good value for money. We would definitely visit again.
Delicious healthy food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Totally recommend the amandines for dessert.
The restaurant is lovely and the staff great. The food is good but could be excellent with a bit of tweaking. You have to order the whole menu to find what works for your taste buds. I will definatley go back.
Beautiful food in general and delicious dessert. Good evening out.
My only gripe would be that the roll served with the otherwise gluten free meal was not gluten free. My guest who is Coeliac suffered having eaten half the roll. Please be clearer with labelling of all ingredients. That said, top marks across the board. Well done! We will be coming back!
A great variety of fantastic food in a beautiful restaurant.
Very tasty food and very good service. Will be going back definitely
Something for everyone here ...recognisable mains like pizza, burgers or more healthy mixes, soups and salads. Deserts are incredible! Lovely contemporary place, feels like a proper modern restaurant. Great service and outstanding food.
As a one off it was a nice experience going to a dedicated vegan restaurant. The food was great, but I believe they were changing their menu completely the following week so will be different when you attend. That being said, it was a great mix of flavours, textures and dishes so I’m sure they will have another great tasting menu.
It was very quiet when we went, only one other table in the whole place. It’s also odd it’s not open are weekend or late on Friday but never mind.
The non-alcholic wine isn’t worth it in our opinion. Quite literally tastes like grape juice but a normal bottle of wine price.
The range of different foods available was excellent. The employees came to personally speak to us to gain feedback on our experience of the food. It was difficult to quantify the portion sizes of the starters and desserts but we were not disappointed after we had received and eaten them. Would highly recommend. A very different food dining experience
Great service, great food and choice on menu. I would recommend to anyone.
Lovely ambience. Great service. Starters were amazing. Burger was not as tasty as have had elsewhere. It is a little pricey but definitely worth a visit.
I am very happy Vegan Spartan is now open!
The restaurant has been decorated beautifully and although on the high street inside is quiet and peaceful.
We ordered the Christmas set menu and were not disappointed! I will be going back to try the main menu very soon.
The service was quick and attentive with friendly staff happy to help even when more tables were filled.
Now for the most important bit! The food my girlfriend and I had was an incredible selection or flavours and textures, some of which we haven’t been able to find since turning vegan 3-4 years ago as not for lack of trying! It was all amazing, we were literal kids in a candy store as each dish came out; the cheeses, desert and pate stood out (all courses in pictures) to me.
I would urge everyone to give it a go and try a dish or smoothie, knowing we have a plant based powerhouse in town raising awareness is awesome!
We thought we’d try Vegan Spartan for an alternative to meat dining. I was pleasantly surprised with the many choices on offer and the explanations of the dishes from one of the waitresses.
I started with a lentil and vegatable soup which was both filling and tasty. Main course was the Spartan burger, slightly unusual taste but enjoyable. Then finished with the peanut butter log, delicious as well as really filling.
The restaurant had a nice feel to it and the decor was crisp and modern.
My only beef really was being hurried to order desert as the restaurant closes at 3pm on a Friday afternoon??
It is my understanding that the restaurant is closed on Fri and Sat nights, not sure how it will survive with not being open on the main dining out nights of the week. Especially as the restaurant business is so competitive.
Anyway I hope it does continue to do well and I look forward to returning in the New Year.
