Very nice place with good food and reasonable prices. Great for after movie!
What a pleasant surprise - how come no one told me about this! The atmosphere is lovely, the staff couldn’t have been nicer and the food was superb. The menu was interesting with nice twists that made the dishes excellent. Presentation was elegant without being pretentious. Beet salad sitting on a ring of creamy goat cheese, petite dollop of wasabi, delish seared tuna on a ring of rice with savory mushrooms. Hard to do it justice - really good & we will be back.
We really enjoyed our meal. Tuna Tartare, Flank Steak and a great salad with grilled shrimp, Everything was presented beautifully. The one thing I think thy can improve is the bread they serve. But Vela is a great choice.
Very surprised to be brought 2 glasses of champagne for my husband and my anniversary! Thank you!
Hi, this was our third time dining at your restaurant. Our first visit was just the 2 of us. The second and third time we booked for 4, 2 couples. Our first two times were really great. This time, I felt disappointed as did the other couple we were with. My duck dish was fatty and the sauce less tasteful than the first two visits with you. My wife’s branzino was dry and tasteless. We asked for sauce on the side and fish came with no sauce. Waitress brought later on. The other couple had a pork chop and pasta dishes. Pasta dish was bland and pork chop was ok, nothing special. We were just there this past Sunday. Maybe Sunday’s aren’t the best time to dine with you?
Consistently good food and great service. Brought my husband for the first time. He doesn’t usually enjoy eating out, but he was quite happy with the food and very attentive service. Finally, a really good restaurant in Pleasantville, reasonably priced and with well prepared, delicious food.
Good food, good service. First time there. We will go back!
A wonderful place to enjoy dinner with a friend. From the cauliflower fritters to the ricotta kisses, the meal and the service were incredible! Will be back soon.
This is a place that really has its act together. Executive chef Velazquez has established a menu that is interesting, without being silly. The portions are ample and well flavored. The shrimp dumplings are an unlikely mix, but they work. The short ribs fell apart with the touch of a fork. Flavor was full-bodied. Wine pours are honest.
As always a delicious dinner. Service excellent - everyone always so pleasant! My only complaint would be noise level. When room is full can be quite noisy.
Met my date at Vela Kitchen before catching a movie at Jacob Burns. Had a glass of wine and appetizers - the cauliflower fritters and the jalapeño lobster sliders. Wonderful! It was cozy enough for a date but had a upbeat vibe.
Perfect for going to movie, delicious and interesting selections, quality ingredients, great service. Lovely and quiet for conversation.
This has become my favorite restaurant in Westchester. Menu is interesting, creative and varied. Food is consistently wonderful - service is just right...attentive, w/o being overbearing...friendly, warm staff. (they even remember to turn the music down a bit when we come in, w a smile, no less.
Excellent server: Benjamin
Excellent choices for Veggies (like me)
(Two non-veggies even gotcand enjoyed veggie sliders!) (Suggest asking for them to be cooked a little more)
Ricotta benguets (spelling) (with chocolate syrupband whipped cream in the side) - delicious.
Nice Cab wine by the glass!
The food was good. A nearby table was very noisy. The room we were in didn’t have any acoustic deadening and thus very noisy.
Food was ok except that the portions were small for the price value. Service was rushed and intrusive.
We went to the restaurant early before a movie at JBFC and I think we were the first people there! So it was of course quiet, great service , and very good menu. Though main courses are not inexpensive, soup and salad and appetizers can surely make up a dinner.
It can get crowded and noisy at peak dinner time...
Excellent food and service
Great local place, right across from Jacob Burns movie theater. Highly recommended!!
Really nice casual Thursday night dinner, food and wine was delicious!
Food is very good and the menu is varied, imaginative and includes many appetizers as well as main dishes. Fish choices are offered in a variety of preparations, and main dishes come with vegetable and rice or potato accompaniments. Server was helpful and personable but not as readily available as desirable to answer questions, supply missing utensils, and fill post-meal beverage orders.
Excellent food. Excellent service! We had a great birthday celebration.
I brought friends from out of town and we all loved it. They plan to return today before leaving town
I loved Vela Kitchen! Appetizers are outstanding so all of us ordered a couple appetizers each instead of entrees. Lobster sliders and truffle mac and cheese were hugely popular among our group.
Vela Kitchen is our go to place for special occasions. This visit for our 48th wedding anniversary did not disappoint. Our hostess Joanne made sure our special day felt special.
Good location for a business meeting. Excellent food.
Very relaxed on a Tuesday night (may be difficult to get a table on weekends). Prompt and courteous service, affordable wine list, and unique preparations make Vela Kitchen one of our go-to special places. We shared the cauliflower fritters which are great, several unique salads (large portions), and the entress were all well-received. Love the fresh fish - branzino is a favorite, served over spinach and butternut squash. The seared tuna over sticky rice was less tasty but a very attractive presentation.
The food ranged from very good to excellent for the table. The tuna and salmon were outstanding. Service was cordial and well meaning but on the slow side. Had to ask for a glass of wine twice. This was our second time here and will make it a regular stop when we go to the Jacob Burns. All in all a good place and the food makes up for the very trivial negatives.
We had very good time at Vela Kitchen. Food was very good. With the exception that to my palate I would have enjoyed more if the mashed potatoes had a little more butter to make them creamier. And if the short ribs were accompanied by a sort of a sauce. I think those two were a bit dry. Even though the flavor was good. My duck was very tasty. I would recommend this place to others and I would try other items in the menu as well.
Innovative menu, delicious food. A bit noisy, but so worth it for the excellent cuisine.
Vela has made a good fist of transforming a stripmall-like location in to something that approximates to a Hipster hang! (Grey paneling, wood floor, exposed brick etc). We sat in a booth, which was great, and ate some imaginatively-conceived and well-prepared food. The wines by the glass selection is well chosen and I had the rose. Crisp and delicious!
I have never eaten here before and found the food And decor and ambience to be good, What was upsetting was the service and the lack of respect for interrupting our conversation over and over again. It was unacceptable and unbelievable that both the server and waiter could not wait 0.1 seconds before interrupting. This happened many times and wrecked a dinner like a dinner has never been wrecked before. Owners need to think about hiring trained staff.
Great food fast service nice place good prices overall
Vela kitchen is excellent. This was our 4th or 5th time dining there. We have brought friends/family multiple times because it is a great choice. Our family enjoyed everything that touched the table! We started with Truffle Popcorn for the table which is one of my favorites. Fried Calamari was crunchy and delicious. My Aunt ordered a filet mignon (well done) and she said it was cooked perfectly and was so tender! I ordered a filet mignon (RARE) and it was PERFECT and awesome! My husband got the short ribs (again) and they were great. My Uncle ordered a pasta special that he said was light but filling and so tasty. We will definitely be back!
It is the most consistent restaurant in Northern Westchester in its quality and service—all at a high level.
Vela continues to be the true definition of a neighborhood gem. Preforms at all levels. Service is always professional and friendly. And the food....my goodness..the food..is always extraordinary. Who's back there ? It appears it's a top, CIA trained check. But, I really have no idea who the chef is. But his creativity, presentation, and his ability to please all the senses is right on the mark.
Even the wine choices are sophisticated, well priced, and perfectly smooth, demonstrate that the owners and managers are firing on all cylinders.
We had a great meal with family visiting from out of town. Love sitting in bar booths. Great wine selections! Love Vela Kitchen!
We came with friends of ours who never heard of Vela Kitchen before and seemed to enjoy the atmosphere and the food as well.
It is always a wonderful experience at Vela! The food is always delicious.
Vella Kitchen is a great place for lunch or dinner in a relaxed setting. The service was great and the food outstanding. Loved the vegetarian options. We sat in the Bar area which was great.
