Once upon a time an Italian guy proud to be from Emilia-Romagna region, up-north Italy, the region where the home-made egg pasta was originally invented, decided to create a whole restaurant using every single product, pasta recipe, beer and wine that come maniacally and exclusively from his region.
Covering the typical fresh pasta dishes from each Emilian city hand-made in front of you and following the original Grandma’s own recipe and maintaining an outstanding value.
Also Launching the real Gnocco Fritto in London, the typical gently-fried bread to enjoy with meat&cheese.
Offering just 40 covers, Via Emilia is intimate yet light and airy; with its traditional white marble and dark stained wood, the interior combines the conventional with quirky use of aged steel, copper and caged displays adding a modern twist to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. At 5 minutes walk from Old Street station and 10 from Liverpool Street

Great little restaurant! Really simple menu of pasta and gnocchi but all done amazingly.

They were a bit swamped because it was valentines so the service wasn’t flawless but they said it was the busiest day since they opened - so it’s totally understandable, and they were really nice.

Really nice food from Emilia Romagna. The portions were generous and the lambrusco really good.

Non-cooked food such as cheese and a meat platter was great. One pasta dish was cold and the other one (tagliatelle al ragù) was distinctively average. What bothered us most, however, was the service. We were shown to a counter table upon arrival and when we expressed our discontent (as we had booked in advance), a waiter just said “it’s busy”. When we told the same guy about the cold pasta, he just said, “Really? No way!” He was friendly, but we just found him rather inexperienced. This place has a lot of potential and hope they will improve their service and quality of cooked food over time.

Amazing food and wine. Really enjoyed it. Only downside was we were right beside the door and it was freezing so we kept getting blasted with cold air! Will def be back.

Excellent experience. Great introduction from the waiter to the concept behind the restaurant. Not like a run of the mill Italian - all products sourced from Italy. Delicious food. Quick service. Bit of a find.

Excellent service and exquisite food. Slightly disappointed with the portions on one of the pasta mains but that was the only point for improvement. The pasta was incredibly fresh and the bread cheese and meat recommendations from the maitre d' were a real first (and I've had a lot of meat and cheese platters!). The pasta was all incredibly fresh. Top draw.

Great authentic food, very well prepared and presented. The service was great, if not a bit busy. Initially the ambiance was great as most conversations were quiet but as the friday night crowds started to fill up the place, noise levels started to get a bit too much. Very very reasonably priced menu and amazing pasta.

Delicious, authentic food all made in house. Have been to sister restaurant In Parma and just as good. I imagine it will start to get busy soon!

Really authentic northern Italian cuisine. It's amazing to get proper gnoccho fritto in London and the cured meat and salami was excellent quality. The mushroom tagliatelle was my favourite of the pasta dishes...you do need more than one dish per person, as the menu says. Service was very friendly and helpful. My husband and I really enjoyed our meal.
