Viceroy Ratings and Reviews
Amazing food - best I've had in a long while. I was looking for a great Indian restaurant in Birmingham, as me and my partner were there for NYE. This was actually a Bangladeshi restaurant, and every dish we had was exquisite. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you!
Really enjoyed a Saturday evening meal at The Viceroy. We hadn't realised that for groups of 6 or more, you have to go with one of the set menus. However, they were very accommodating in allowing us to change the dishes from ones we didn't want to ones we did. And the quality of the food was excellent, and were all left satisfied.
I will be going back and will be recommending it to friends.
This was a wonderful dining experience and our first visit to the Viceroy. The staff were attentive and liked to explain the type of food on offer.
Unsure what to choose we opted for the £27 per head tasting platter. every course was explained to us in some detail and it was the tastiest meal we have had for many a year. the chicken and king prawn starters were juicy and tasty being lightly spiced so all the flavours came through.
The small tasting platters of fish, lamb, chicken and vegetables could not be faulted and the rice smelt as good as it tasted. We could not finish it all and we were offered more it was absolutely delightful.
To pick any faults seem churlish but the pompadoms could have been hotter but were tasty the mint yoghurt dips milder and the nan could also have been fresher but absolutely great food and plenty of it.
The staff are to be commended we will go again and so should anyone that reads this review.
What a gem! Upon arriving at the restaurant, one feels welcome and taken care of. The restaurant itself is very modern, but still very cosy and intimate. The service is superb (including an excellent wine recommendation) and the food is heaven. I will certainly be back and this is going to be my number one "special occasions" restaurant.
Easy booking. Friendly staff. Great food, with all parties happy with their individual dishes. Lamb cooked fantastic. I'm always worried that it's going to be tough. However, the meat was cooked so tender that there were bits in the methi curry but still holding together chunks. Staff were attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Chicken dishes were also cooked great. Went in the evening and the lighting was perfect, not to bright or dark. The restaurant was spotless with an open kitchen. Only 4/5 people turned up for our booking but considering it was 2 days before Christmas, the staff didn't seem to have a problem with it. I tend to avoid a restaurant even if the food is nice but the atmosphere and staff are not. With Viceroy you have the full package. Recommended
Its the first time Ive been to Viceroy and was not disappointed. The venue was smaller than expected but the decor was good and modern. Staff were very friendly, but the star of the show was the food. To call the flavors fresh and vibrant is an understatement, it was just superb. 10 out of 10 for the chefs. Will defiantly be going back again
Been twice now, first with business (expensed) and second time private (my expense!). The food and the service were excellent on both occasions. Certainly noticed that the food and the prices were a cut above standard curry houses when I paid the bill, but I cannot begrudge the higher prices when the food is so good.
My only slight issue is that when the restaurant is busy, the lack of any kind of soft surface means that the room does get extremely noisy. Some blinds or heavy curtains would make it feel warmer and also deaden the noise a lot
The starters we ordered were good. The main courses were dreadful. The service was poor. Our waitress was lacking in communication skills.
What was most astonishing was the amount of money the establishment charges for this.
I would not go back here and I certainly would not recommend it to my friends.
I was 15mins late and they had given the table to someone else and then when arrived they said we are only allowed to have 1 course and needed to leave after 30mins for the next booking!!!!!.....I goto a alot of restaurants and never have experienced this before!
