Absolutely loved it. We went for the Sunday roast for my birthday and it was delicious. Will definitely be going back!
Excellent evening from the moment we got there and were greeted by the staff. Service and food both excellent. Would highly recommend.
Delicious food in nice surroundings. The scallops were amazing and the raspberry souffle was as light as a cloud. We'll definitely be back.
Marvellous gem tucked away on St George’s Passage. Superb food - I would recommend the scallops. Friendly and professional service. A real find - would absolutely recommend.
We liked the new staff and menu more than we had on previous visits - we haven't been to Victuals for several months. Service was very helpful but not pushy or intrusive - we were offered two wines to taste, which was generous. You were also generous in discounting our first drinks because of an error in the bill, so thank you.
My smoked haddock risotto was lush. My vegetarian husband doesn't often find food he really enjoys, but his starter and main were both delicious. Would you think about adding more vegetarian dishes, for the one in eight, these days, who would be grateful?
Thank you for a lovely evening.
The front staff are always cheery and give recognition to regular patrons. They are knowledgeable of the menu and can give good advice on it and the wines in the cellar. Good ambience and so pleeasant to be in company with other diners who can talk to their table, not at them.. Always a pleasure to visit.
We had a lovely evening at Virtual and Co for my partners birthday. They even put a candle on his dessert and sang for him :)
Never fails to disappoint. Fantastic food and service as always
Excellent food, service (nothing was too much trouble and lovely setting
Highly recommended
Will be booking again shortly
Lovely place with great food and attentive service. Don’t know if the women’s loo was as interesting as the men’s which I used inadvertently! Would definitely recommend and if in the area would visit again. Fresh ingredients plenty of skill in the cooking - delightful
Super friendly and food was amazing!! Made to feel welcome and well looked after from start to finish.
enjoyed our meal, fish was really nice, staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Local wine was very good. BUT.....no bananas!
Always a very friendly and perfectly timed service and great quality food
The food was excellent. The wine list was extremely good. The service was exemplary.
Lovely birthday meal nice local cider and wine, we booked early so only people in restaurant but got busy before we left
Nice restaurant conveniently located. We went on a Friday evening in September. We found it was a little quiet which meant that when we arrived, we were seated, given our drinks and even asked to order food within five minutes, so it did feel a bit rushed. The food though was delicious and reasonably good value. Worth a visit!
Delicius meal & good service
Wife commended Victuals and I can understand why. However the food was nothing better than average and rather sorry not more positive after special meal
Absolutely fantastic. Food was amazing, brilliant service and will definitely be returning again. Perfect night
It was a quiet Friday lunchtime, service was attentive and just at the right pace (not rushed and not slow). The place has a relaxing ambience, well designed artwork and interior. Good menu choices, not overwhelming. Quality wines, I had the house white which was spot on. The smoked salmon starter was a salmon steak, freshly smoked in a smoker, which fell apart beautifully and had enough moisture (not dried out) to tantalise the tongue. This was served with some highly flavoured garlic mayonnaises and petite tomato and cucumber swirls. Delicious. I had the shoulder of lamb for main, with creamy mash. The lamb was melt in the mouth and sticky with a rich jus that had plenty of depth. Portion sizes were ample, without being over indulgent. Friendly staff who provided good advice and guidance on the food and wines. Will go again.
Excellent!
Not a good start. For a 19:15 booking in a then almost empty restaurant being shown to an upstairs table immediately next to the Gents was almost unbelievable. However when staff were advised that this was not acceptable we were offered and accepted a very nice table on ground floor! What's that about? Food and wine (good selection of English wines) was Ok but in no way special/unusual/exceptional and definitely overpriced for what it was.
We have been to Victuals a number of times. Our last visit was for a special occasion and there were 8 if us dining. It was a lovely night the service was excellent, the food superb (I think between the 8 of us we went through the menu). When I booked I was asked if any of our party had allergies (one haf a chilli intolerance) and they took this into account brilliantly even phoning me the day before to double check. The following day when we all met up, everyone was really complimentary. So thanks again to all staff at Victuals.
Great food and great service. I almost felt like a member of the family. The duck was especially good.
Very nice restaurant, good local wine and lovely food.
What stood out for us was the highly efficient and friendly service. The staff knew about the menu to a great depth and were very helpful, particularly for a gluten free diet. The food was gorgeous, and having a set menu on a Sunday night made things easier to choose.
Perfect dining experience. Food was delicious, service was lovely! would definitely recommend and return
Had a lovely meal here with some friends. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable evening
First visit for a celebratory meal. Warm welcome, food beautifully presented, all cooked to perfection and delicious. Main portions rather small. Plenty room for dessert! Had we not had dessert, the menfolk would have left hungry. We were sat upstairs with only one other table occupied; overall lacking ambience. Friendly service but apologetic for presenting us with wet glasses and bread plates ! I don’t understand why they were not dried before presenting to us ? Overall, a lovely evening, but my high expectations from ready reviews were not fully met. Expect to be awarding 4 or 5 stars for fine dining price tag, but unfortunately not on this occasion.
Excelent food and very friendly and helpful staff.

Ok, but expensive for what it is compared to other similar quality local restaurants.
Really great service, scrumptious food and lovely environment. Will definitely visit again!!
The passion fruit souffle was amazing , being a chef it was nice to see such a technical dish execuited so well
Lost count of the number of times we’ve eaten here. It always delivers and would highly recommend.
The welcome was excellent and the service was just right, so friendly and efficient throughout the entire meal. The food was fabulous, I cannot praise it highly enough! This was not my first visit but I did bring along some friends after I had said how good it was. You are always a little nervous when recommending where to eat, even more so when they are sat with you; I should not have worried, they were 'blown away', their words not mine with the whole evening.
Just fantastic but don't tell too many people :-)
First visit to this lovely local restaurant won’t be my last! Food was amazing and service was brilliant
As good or even better than it's always been! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Victuals & Co.
What a lovely place. Food & staff excellent. Sunday Roast was great! £22 for 2 courses.
Lovely restaurant with good food. The service was amazing and the seating upstairs was nice and quiet. However, we all felt it was over priced for what you got.
Food fabulous. Scallop starter delicious, as was the lamb with minted potatoes, same goes for the passion fruit souffle. Everything beautifully presented and the decor was original and creative. The experience was slightly marred by a frosty reception. I had booked and reconfirmed a table for 1.00 pm. There were two members of staff behind the bar when we arrived but sadly no greeting or acknowledgement. Oh and was also told "you're late" as we were indeed 5 mins late. Gave an initial poor impression. Service after that was impeccable so will ignore grumpiness of staff on that occasion.
