Excellent service as always. The food remains brilliant also. Great cocktails and atmosphere. We felt well looked after!
Lovely food. Great service friendly staff. Definitely go back.
Excellent service, polite and welcoming staff, staff very helpful,, will recommend and see you in two weeks time 👍
It is the second time I've eaten here. Both times service wasn't good. Waited 20mins for the waitress to take a drink order. Also ordered water which again took asking for twice.
Explained that I wanted no cheese, no sauces, no mayonnaise. It came with all on. They took another 25 minutes to make another one. which by then the other three guest had finished eating.
I removed the service charge, and was offered shots and an apology.
This doesn't take away the fact that the food was lovely, just the service let me down.
I was more annoyed as the exact same thing happened last time I visited. But that time I paid the service charge
Really pleasant meal. Food was good quality but quite standard, a bit like you'd make at home. That said there was nothing to complain about. Service was really good, waitress polite and friendly. Decent cocktails too.
On first impressions we thought it was just going to be run of the mill bar food but we were very wrong! The staff were attentive, even just letting us know it was taking a bit longer to make sure the lamb was cooked right, the food tasted amazing and was so full of flavour we didn't want our meals to end :)
We asked for the bill and the main waiter who originally showed us to our table was arrogant in his response by walking away and not explaining that someone will attend to us
Not hard to make a simple explanation of why he cannot attend to us
Food was lovely but thinking they were maybe understaffed or struggling as kept having to approach the staff for drinks and orders and the bill. Everything else was nice
managed to get our booking switched to outside. Staff very courteous and helpful. Service a little slow. atmosphere outside was very good. Overall a great night.
We had a really good time at The Velvet. The food was nice and most of the staff very friendly.
Food was fine but one of the staff members seemed almost annoyed that we were there. Constantly loud sighing and eye rolling and slamming stuff around. No pleases or thank yous, really blunt to talk to. This was an older member of staff, however a young girl who was also there was lovely, bright and cheerful and friendly, almost apologetic for the other member of staffs behaviour
Booked a table months ago over the phone & requested a table. Outside.
When we arrived we were greeted by an abrupt & rude man who just barked at us & said " due to covid we stop serving food outside from 6pm" which makes sense at all.
I explained about the booking & he just snapped & said no.
There were alot of staff but it appeared very chaotic
We ordered & drinks took a while to arrive which was a glass of wine & gin & tonic
The food was perfect & the best bit. Couldn't fault it at all
The bill came & it was wrong, charged two different prices for the same glass of wine we had ordered two of
The burger came with fries but they charged us for a portion as well
We had two bottle of tonic yet charged at different prices
The food was nice but everything else needs work
Really enjoyed the food, well presented and good service.
The new menu is rather limited for choice. The lack of breakfast options is also disappointing. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion
Great experience, Jan who was front of house couldn’t do enough for us great experience would highly recommend. Jan is certainly an asset to the company
Food was amazing and great prices had a really lovely evening. Service for drinks was very slow but probably can't be helped due to pandemic but over all experience was fabulous
We eat here every other weekend and it's consistently good. The usual favourites are always good but this time I went for the seafood risotto. It was excellent. We never have room for desserts but one day we'll get there!
Slow service. Several items on menu not available
Probably wouldn’t visit again
Great food lovely dining experience would certainly eat here again
After booking and then reading poor reviews I was worried but it was so good . I took my son for his visit here service really really good he had hummus starter I had figs and goats cheese both above the norm he had chicken in Parma ham I had sea bass both delicious I had espresso martini he had flat white Bill £62 so good highly recommend sat outside for more drinks after do go you were will not be disappointed
Good food served at good prices by lovely staff.
We were allocated the booth for the 4 of us which was excellent, plenty of space. The service was excellent and food was amazing.
We were sat at the table for 30 mins before a drink order was even taken. Ignored by the staff (restaurant wasn’t even busy approx half full) starter arrived after main course. Steak was Cole and the chips over cooked and cold. Asked for the bill as we’d been there so long we missed our following drinks reservation. The server asked if everything was ok as I’d left over half the meal and I explained it wasn’t but I just wanted the bill and to leave. He returned with the bill and had removed one drink from the bill to compensate. Would rather have paid for the wine as it was palatable. (Bill was still almost £100 one starter two mains and one glass of wine) wouldn’t recommend to anyone at all. Worst place we have eaten in Manchester without contest.
We have eaten here before and always enjoyed it. Last night wasn’t a great experience though. We were greeted at the podium to a blunt “you only have a hour and half to eat” which wasn’t particularity a warm welcome. The food itself was good but my partners main was forgotten and came after the other party members had all finished.
This was my first visit to Village Brasserie and I have to say it was one of the best meals out I have ever had, the food was incredible the atmosphere was light and our waiter could not do enough for it. Absolutely fantastic, I’ve already made another reservation for the beginning of July
has nothing in common with a french bistro!
Great place, friendly service and atmosphere. Enjoyed as always
Really nice food and service, would definitely recommend this basement restaurant kinda vibe
Staff didn't know what doing. Food came difrend time and they forgot about drinks. Nobody check us do everything its OK and we sitting with dirty table over 20min. Food overpriced and not good quality. Was my birthday and I mentioned that in booking. Nobody say anything about that. Staff didn't ask us about desert. I'm very disappointed. Table was not in level and Staff put napkins to stop shaking. They serve food without cutlery.... Never again.
Great value for money food. The bar staff are incredibly friendly and provide fast and tasty food
We were looked after beautifully by Mark (think that was his name). First time out with friends post lockdown, sat outside and had a perfect afternoon.
Came over the weekend for drinks and food- the service was great, music was very loud on Saturday night inside but it felt like a club so it was a good vibe, great selection of drinks. The pizza was lovely too and everyone was very accommodating.
Food was amazing
Dining outside - and the waiters were very good.
Sunny, nicely done food - ordering app is hopeless but I think everyone knows that now
Service was just simply rubbish, the waiters was just running round like headless chickens. Then we got severed the wrong food and when they finally brought our food is was plain rubbish
The whole interior and design is brilliant but they really need to think of investing in better kitchen staff
Three haloumi burgers and a lamb dinner thoroughly enjoyed with beets and cocktails.
The food was incredible! Staff very friendly and helpful. Just the right amount of interaction from the staff. Great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
We keep revisiting this restaurant sporadically since it changed hands a few years ago after the same people had it for many years, but I think we’ve given it it’s final chance last night. Slow service even after being told we had to vacate the table at a specific time, the menu isn’t very extensive and I wouldn’t say that the prices were on the ‘reasonable’ side, it’s just not ‘cutting it’ all round for our liking. One small fillet of pan fried fish just isn’t enough. Eating a similar meal at other restaurants-I’d get 2 decent sized fillets within my meal, two fillets constitutes a ‘fish’ in my eyes so only having ‘half’...........one feels a tad cheated.
Food was awesome would go again!
Lovely setting, great food and adorable service
