Enjoyed as always staff really friendly and happy despite them being temporarily in a different area making their job more difficult whilst refurbishment taking place. We were made to feel very welcome as were out two small children. Thank you
Restaurant closed for refurbishment. Should have been informed when reservation was made!!!!!
Although the restaurant was under construction-the alternative room we were sent to was not adequate to be used as a restaurant. The staff were slow and all complained about each other and not being happy about the current situation. There is no doubt this situation was not normal but still the whole temporary restaurant has been poorly planned.
The restaurant was shut for referbishment but instead of cancelling the Sunday lunch offer they did it in a horrible function room. It was cold the food was cold and dried out and there was no atmosphere I felt like I was in a school dinning hall. The staff were very polite and tried their best to please the customers but everyone was in agreement if they had know it was going to be like that they would not have booked.
Not while they're having a refit as they have set up the restaurant in a basement room that resembles a staff canteen
The food was good :it was a much awaited birthday celebration so we were very disappointed to be informed the main restaurant was closed we were seated in a back conference room that needed decorating at tables that would have been best suited to a school canteen. I just wished we had been informed at booking
Really enjoyed it. Food (and desserts) we're amazing. Will definitely go again
Nice restaurant, staff were lovely. I had a few issues finding food that was gluten free.
Excellent service by all members of staff. We noticed an improvement in food quality since last visit, and staff were polite and efficient. Well done keep it up.
Fab starter- trio hummus and breads. Halloumi skewers were fab too as our main.
Arrived at the village hotel and was seated. Asked for other menu which waiter was confused about but asked for advice which we were then given. Waiter left to give us time to order however never actually returned and 15 minutes later we were left to flag someone else down. Food was nice, however half way through we heard shouting and screaming then all the staff came running over to the pub area. No one informed us of what had happened and we only learnt by overhearing other customers. There had been a fight in the pub area, when we requested to pay we were asked to go to the same pub area to pay (where the fight had just happened) and were escorted there (we felt like they thought we were gonna do a runner). On our way out there we’re 8 police cars and an ambulance! A quiet night turned into a hectic one!
We just had Sunday lunch which was excellent. Not often you find Sirloin of Beef at a carvery!!
The Turkey was also succulent, the food was only equalled by the staff & service
Our many thanks to the staff, very well done!!
1st visit for Sunday Lunch, 1.30pm.
Quite and gradually got busier but not noisy at all.
Food was very good, starters very good, Carvery meats excellent, good choice of vegetables( 1 comment on the Mashed Potatoes, very dry I think the Heat Lamps were too powerful )
Sweet we chose the Jam Roly Poly, very good.
Overall experience really good and will book again
Ate whilst having a business meeting. The staff were fantastic, attentive and very helpfull.
The food was excellent too.
Had an okay meal wasn’t that great but our waiter Paf made the evening for us
He was attentive and friendly
£52 for 2 bottles of wine was very overpriced though
Been here a few times and always been great but on this occasion it wasn’t.
Service was non existent but had a lot working
Most stressful meal in a long time.
Sat at multiple tables when being seated, to then only be moved by a manager, because 2 people can't sit on a table for 4. Then watched the same manager sit an couple in a booth for four. Tables around us left after we ate starters, their dirty plates and glasses were still there when we left.
The manager was rushing around like the world was about to end, whilst his staff moped around like they had nothing to do (Despite the accumulating filth surrounding us). The carver at the carvery I really felt for. After queuing for 10 mins to get to the front of the queue, she apologised and said she had to refill the veg which was bare. Why she was doing this and carving is beyond me. She was clearly overworked and had to struggle with about 5 roundtrips to the kitchen.
I honestly wanted to get all the staff and management in a room and ask them what the hell was going on. No communication, no initiative, no clue. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day!
Not going back.
One of the best carveries I have been to. The staff were lovely and friendly and made you feel welcome
Food was great but the service was terrible. Such a shame because some of the staff were lovely they were just too busy.
Excellent value for money great food and helpful staff!...
Great service. The quality of our meal was fantastic. Very happy with everything and have now booked for Christmas Day dinner.
I have used the restaurant for many years and have been it decline the last few visits. On being seated wasn't asked if we required starters had to call waiter over .
not cleaned up.
No one asked if desert was required had to ask Waiter again after 15minutes wait desert came with a appolagy about the presentation.
I complained to staff and had to symathise as there was not a enough staff on .
It was obvious that there was nobody in charge and nobody organizing staff and it was totally a shambles. Have been a member for many years and it will be a long time before I visit the restaurant on a Sunday again.
Have eaten here on several occasions and have always has an excellent experience. Food is always good, especially the Sunday carvery and the staff are always friendly.
We were disappointed as we expected a certain standard at least on dress code especially as the Village claimed to have one. One customer was on his phone constantly and even put it on loud speaker and we asked one of the servers to have a word.
Was not that way impressed after been shown to our table nobody botherd to come over and take our drinks order, after 15 mins of waiting i had to ask someone to take the order, then nobody came over to tell us about the soup so had no idea there was even soup available until we fetched our dinner and i asked why there wasnt none and got told that somebody should have come over and told us, had to get back up and ask for another drink and for the table to be cleaned after having plates infront of us for about 10 mins after finishing. Then only ice cream for desert and all the toppings had been removed from the counter.i was going to book my familys xmas day dinner here but after the poor service and disappointment i dont think i will be.
Village restaurant has improved enormously and the food is good quality and very tasty.
Our waiter was excellent, just the right balance of attention and not too much fuss.
The rustic chips are delicious and the salmon and chicken also very good.
The venue was cold, food barely warm and bland. We won the cavery in a competition otherwise we would have complained.
Restaurant ran out of two of the wines of our choice and could not make us coffee as the coffee machine had broken down and they did not have kettle!
We booked a table at the restaurant as we were staying in the hotel, we arrived at 7.30pm and it seemed a bit quiet but we were told that 3 members of staff had rang in sick so they were unable to accomodate any more people. We had 2 courses with a glass of fizz for £29 and it was great value for money, the food was really nice. The service was good considering there was only 2 members of staff waiting and serving and one of the members of staff was actually training.
Food was good, starters could be more for example soup. Waiters need to explain more for people who haven’t been their before. I asked for a desert and was told he needed to sort the top table first, I thought that was rude as I was there first not the top table
great friendly they always make you feel welcome and we always enjoy the food
Excellent food & service would definitely go back again.
Enjoyed Sunday lunch plenty of choice and of good quality would have enjoyed it much better if their had been a hot dessert
The service was second to none best service from the restaurant the team leader (think his name is Paz) was wonderful really went above and beyond to make our experience the best!
Great food. Really pleasantly suprised and good price!
Wow, phenomenal evening. Had by all!!! The food was impeccable (thank the chef for me) atmosphere perfect but the best. Thing about the night had to be Matt and Paf, both deserve immmense credit for their world class customer service and their amazing rapport skills!!!
They are a credit to Village and you are very lucky to have them
The best carvery I have ever had. High quality good at a very reasonable price! Will definitely be going back soon
Nothing to much hassle lovely staff food was lovely well worth every penny
great staff nothing to much trouble for them .we love the food and the great selection of starters .
We regularly visit for Sunday lunch. The main was nice, but the dessert options are not to standard. In the past there were fudge cake and lemon meringue pie. I just don’t think the ice cream machine cuts it.
The service from the lady who was looking after us was great. She totally fussed over my daughter which is nice to see.
