20 minute wait to be served at bar, 45 minute wait for starter and another 35 minute wait for main course! Steak over cooked, roasted tomatoes missing from both meals and no bacon on the mixed greens. We were then charged £13 for two cocktails we never had!! All in all a disaster and at £81 plus drinks very expensive. We won’t be coming again
Pleasantly surprised at quality of food. Good value. Attentive waitress. Good family atmosphere
Excellent Food and service, would highly recommend.
Absolutely disgraceful I booked a table for 2pm and we arrived at 1:45 and was told to wait a while and get a drink . We was waiting for a table that we was told we was getting that was occupied by another couple and they was just seated so we waited 15 min and they was only just getting up for there main meal and was told to look out for another table so we dicided to leave after 30 mins and went else where!
Poor service and incredibly expensive. Not value for money and had to pay high end restaurant prices to sit in a noisy with football blasting. We are members and will not return again. Very disappointing
Long wait to order as I asked to wait for my colleague to arrive - after he got in, we waited at least 10-15 minutes before being serviced.
After 3 times confirming that I would like to just have the meal billed to my room, I ended up paying by card.
Nothing bad to say about the food though.
Yes I would... nice location and the refurbishment has made the venue more inviting m. Food was ok but too peppery
I really didn’t enjoy my meal here.
Booked on a 2 can dine for 29 voucher.
The menu was very limited, what I chose was small portioned and not very warm and quite tasteless - apart from the chicken.
The dessert wasn’t pleasant either despite being one of my favourite flavour combinations. The wine was good but after a 6 hour drive to the hotel I was really hoping for a lovely warm meal and was dissatisfied.
Also the staff didn’t really understand the voucher at first, our server had to consult someone for every question that we had and showed us the main menu, before correcting their mistake and giving us the select menu which had nothing really that appealed!
I wish we’d eaten a la Carte and had the menu been shown when I was purchasing the voucher I would not have bought it
We have eaten at the village many times however this Sunday was different.
First of all no one came to seat us, once we had asked at the bar we were left waiting even though we had a reservation. I understand requests cannot always be given but we asked for a high chair in the booking but one wasn't given.
We weren't asked if we wanted the soup starter. The whole duration of our meal not one person asked if we wanted a drink. We wasn't served or asked about desert then when I asked for some custard a girl brought it to the table but with no bowl. Our starter plates were still out when we helped our self to ice cream, however one lady who took the plates did apologise at the time for this.
Cheap but not very organised. Food not very warm and just seemed like a playground for children. I feel like it not very comfortable too much like a market hall rather than a hotel .
Family Sunday lunch for husbands birthday. Great food and good value. Everyone enjoyed
Went with the hubby after working on Sunday.... couldn't fault the meal at all .. will definately be going back
We have dined here several times but this was the first time since the refurbishment. The changes are all excellent but for one major difference. The food, prices, staff and quality of the refurb are all top notch but the restaurant has done away with the alcoves and small seating areas in favour of a totally open dining area. To me this has ruined our dining experience as it is now too noisy. We found it hard to communicate clearly and as several nearby tables were occupied by families who allowed their kids to run around the area at will it spoilt our meal. The open dining decision for me was a big mistake and we will not be returning.
The carvery was awful. Very limited selection. Cold. Unappetising. Didn’t look very hygienic. That goes for all courses of the Sunday lunch.
Great place good food the Sunday lunch is brilliant and any other time to meet up for lunch or evening meal
Not a good experience trying to enjoy a family meal in the middle of a noisy 'sports bar ' and surrounded by hen party people and sitting next to the busy bar. Not my description of a ' restaurant'. More a noisy bar.
Nice revamp, good food and service could not fault anything.
Came for my sisters 65th birthday. The staff we very friendly and helpful, the only criticism is that there were not enough bar staff on.
The food was well cooked, but the staff were slow at filling up the veggie trays.
The choice of food was very good.
The table were spacious and comfortable to sit around, even for my husband who has arthritis in the knees.
We shall certainly recommend you and visit again soon.
The meal was delicious and artistically put together, with generous portions and healthy veggie options, the restaurant had a pleasant, relaxed ambience, and our waitress (Demi) was utterly delightful. Definitely plan to visit again, many thanks!
Food was very good and plentiful. Three choices of meat at the carvery with loads of veg too.
Reason for low score is that we were charged £3.50 for a glass of lemonade - I don't consider that to be good value.
booked table for two the place was packed with sports people just having one drink more attention needed for people spending money was put in a corner like inconvience, had to ask more than one person what to do, also not enough bar staff to cope with festive crowd.
Our table was changed at the last minute and we were told that we had to sit in the bar with the bar menu not the restaurant as prebooked and that we weren’t allowed the restaurant menu!
This was a table for 10 so as you can imagine with a busy bar it wasn’t the best other people were banging into the ones sitting on the end and leaning up our table using it to put there drinks down!
Wasn’t impressed with the noise level as we could hardly hear each other talk!
Was really looking forward to the meal as we had all been online to look at the menu and then couldn’t have it.
It was too late for us to change venue with the call being 1hour before the booking!!
We went for Sunday lunch. Service was excellent. Starters and main were good but the desserts let them down. The noise was overwhelming and will prevent me from going back. The TVs were extremely loud and they were competing with Christmas music. We had to shout to hear each other l!
many items ran out
rude and unhelpful younger staff
Worst experience ever
First gym facilities were almost all out of order, shower broken, steam room 5~7 visits in 3weeks, jacuzzi jets broken, water dispensers broken, chemical storage unit left open and unattended, staff customer service is dismal but whole Sunday was ruined by hotels booking system
Booked table after hours of service due to stupid booking system
Showed management to no real gesture of efforts made
Ended up going tgi Friday and spending over 70£ due to incompetent staff and processes at this hotel
I could do a better job myself walking in off the street
This will be passed to headquarters and regulators
Was disappointed with length of time had to wait before anyone acknowledged us and came to show us to our table, 14 minutes to be precise. Waiting staff had too many customers so service was not good, Tables placed opposite tv screen was very awkward to manoeuvre round them especially for people with disabilities
Meats were at the very end got a lot of fat not much meat. Apple pie only warm and custard cold. The air con was on sub zero.
Staff were fantastic, food was amazing huge portions highly recommend!
I am completely disgusted at the customer service offered at the village.
I booked online for the restaurant as we arrived we were told they were very busy and given one menu which was very limited and expensive, there wasn’t anything we particularly liked but ordered anyway.
Only to find that other people opposite were being served completely different food to that on the menu we ordered from.
We then raised this with a staff member who bought over a team leader who told that us that were wasnt able to have that food as our food was cooking.
Yet said if we had asked to have that menu then we could of ordered from that menu but as we didn’t ask them we couldn’t. However we told the team leader we were not aware is that menu and should of been informed to make the choice ourselves.
We were informed that as we part of the restaurant and not the pub you are not given a choice.
And all that could happen was given 10%off food but I should of requested pub instead of restaurant when I booked and there was a board on the promoting the food but we could not have this.
As we had been given misleading information and found the whole atmosphere and customer service uncomfortable we left without having our food and payed for drinks.
I will not be returning to this establishment again.
Seated at 8pm, still waiting for someone to take our drinks order at 8.20pm. Couple seated after us, were eating their starters before anybody came to our table. When we were served, took about 25 minutes for our food to arrive. Food was nice, piping hot, and well presented. The new changes are great, open plan, better tables, however, it is not as cosy as it was before, and it was very loud in there. Seats are not the most comfortable either. Maybe due to the refurbishment of the bar, that the locals were sat in the restaurant area, hence the noise. Two great big televisions on the walls, in the restaurant area, which leads me to believe that this is where the majority of the locals will gather to watch the sport. The tv's are great but they were both showing the same thing, Baseball, at 9.30pm and nobody was watching them. If you want a quiet meal, then this is not the place to go. If you like noisy rowdy places, then you will love this.
Really poor restaurant. Bread rolls and butter served at end of main course instead of before as requested. The kitchen was unable to provide tea or coffee at the end of the evening meal (the in-house Starbucks had closed by this time).
One to be avoided!!
The main restaurant was closed due to a re-Ferb so we were seated in the function room the food was in open service and the plates haven’t been put back on them therefore the food was cold we will be in a rush to finish a meal as obviously I want to clear the room for another function
Tasty food & very helpful older staff. Some of the younger, school age staff a little unsure but still helpful.
I was booked in for 1230pm, I arrived @1225pm, I asked at reception where I needed to go for the carvery, she directed me. As I approached the door, there was aRed rope across the door, I walked around and went inside (inspiration room) I man approached me(Matt) and said we are not ready as yet, go and sit in reception and I will collect you when ready.
During my wait which was over roughly 45 mins, no one approached me, I watched different groups of people going down the passageway and not returning, I sat with my 2 young children 3&9. I had to approach the Manager who seemed to be in charge and explained the situation.
Matt approaches me around 3 mins later saying, oh sorry I forgot about you and it's been busy.
Matt offered me 3 free drinks. The food wasn't that hot, wasn't a lot of variety compared to the Dudley branch, which we normally attend but they were fully booked out, so we used Walsall.
As it was the last weekend of the holidays I thought I would treat my eldest and what a mistake that was.
My overall experience was a joke, if I hadn't have got up and asked what was happening, I would have just been left there. No apology from no one just a bottle of Cider, small Coke and a Fruit shoot.
Although food was good I was disappointed that the restaurant area was closed off for refurbishment, and was not informed of this as I booked on line. We were put into a room at the back which was just not suitable I don't think for sunday lunch. I was particularly disappointed as two of the party were celebrating birthdays and I was a bit embarrassed as I had booked the table expecting it to be in the restaurant. Afterwards there were very few seats in the foyer to relax and enjoy a coffee.
On arrival restaurant was closed for refurbishment. Despite my booking there was no call from the hotel to advise this and it is still possible to make reservations even though it is closed.
Dudley village has lots more choice for the Sunday buffet
Had Sunday lunch. Food was nice.
It was our first time there and it wont be our last!It wasnt a 'date' as such,we were on rocky grounds but after we spent the afternoon eating fine food, with great service, then we were gazing into each others eyes at the end of the night.
on Sunday it's a 3 course buffet style carvery. An amazing selection of starters and desserts plus 3 meats and loads of very fresh veg on the carvery. We went for a family birthday and the staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant is light, airy and vey clean. We were offered a soup starter bought to the table or help yourselves cold dishes that included a deli table, prawn cocktails and smoked salmon. The carvery main was well cooked and served hot. The desserts were a cold table of mousse, cheesecake, fresh fruit cocktail or a hot dessert of crumble and custard or an ice cream sundae was bought tot he table. I can recommend the sunday lunch as it's tasty, all you can eat and very good value
