Really poor restaurant. Bread rolls and butter served at end of main course instead of before as requested. The kitchen was unable to provide tea or coffee at the end of the evening meal (the in-house Starbucks had closed by this time).
One to be avoided!!
The main restaurant was closed due to a re-Ferb so we were seated in the function room the food was in open service and the plates haven’t been put back on them therefore the food was cold we will be in a rush to finish a meal as obviously I want to clear the room for another function
Tasty food & very helpful older staff. Some of the younger, school age staff a little unsure but still helpful.
I was booked in for 1230pm, I arrived @1225pm, I asked at reception where I needed to go for the carvery, she directed me. As I approached the door, there was aRed rope across the door, I walked around and went inside (inspiration room) I man approached me(Matt) and said we are not ready as yet, go and sit in reception and I will collect you when ready.
During my wait which was over roughly 45 mins, no one approached me, I watched different groups of people going down the passageway and not returning, I sat with my 2 young children 3&9. I had to approach the Manager who seemed to be in charge and explained the situation.
Matt approaches me around 3 mins later saying, oh sorry I forgot about you and it's been busy.
Matt offered me 3 free drinks. The food wasn't that hot, wasn't a lot of variety compared to the Dudley branch, which we normally attend but they were fully booked out, so we used Walsall.
As it was the last weekend of the holidays I thought I would treat my eldest and what a mistake that was.
My overall experience was a joke, if I hadn't have got up and asked what was happening, I would have just been left there. No apology from no one just a bottle of Cider, small Coke and a Fruit shoot.
Although food was good I was disappointed that the restaurant area was closed off for refurbishment, and was not informed of this as I booked on line. We were put into a room at the back which was just not suitable I don't think for sunday lunch. I was particularly disappointed as two of the party were celebrating birthdays and I was a bit embarrassed as I had booked the table expecting it to be in the restaurant. Afterwards there were very few seats in the foyer to relax and enjoy a coffee.
On arrival restaurant was closed for refurbishment. Despite my booking there was no call from the hotel to advise this and it is still possible to make reservations even though it is closed.
Dudley village has lots more choice for the Sunday buffet
It was our first time there and it wont be our last!It wasnt a 'date' as such,we were on rocky grounds but after we spent the afternoon eating fine food, with great service, then we were gazing into each others eyes at the end of the night.
on Sunday it's a 3 course buffet style carvery. An amazing selection of starters and desserts plus 3 meats and loads of very fresh veg on the carvery. We went for a family birthday and the staff were helpful and friendly. The restaurant is light, airy and vey clean. We were offered a soup starter bought to the table or help yourselves cold dishes that included a deli table, prawn cocktails and smoked salmon. The carvery main was well cooked and served hot. The desserts were a cold table of mousse, cheesecake, fresh fruit cocktail or a hot dessert of crumble and custard or an ice cream sundae was bought tot he table. I can recommend the sunday lunch as it's tasty, all you can eat and very good value
We arrived and ordered a vegetarian option, whilst we helped ourselves to the selection of starters: a choice of packet soup, cherry tomatoes with a chunk mozzarella, or lettuce.
Once we had finished, I asked the chef for the vegetarian option that I had requested, which he went to collect. A minute or two later, our waitress came over to our table and asked me if the Chef had told me that there weren't any veggie options and I would have to have a veggie burger instead. I told her that he hadn't and that I didn't want a veggie burger on my carvery. I then asked why she hadn't informed us sooner because had I known, I would have chosen to eat somewhere else.
The waitress went to speak to the Chef and then came back to assure me that the veggie burger was very similar to the usual option and that I wouldn't notice a difference. I agreed to try it but made it clear that if I didn't like it, I would be sending it back.
I went to collect my food and the chef on the carvery slapped the burger onto the plate with his ungloved hands (to the disgust of all of the customers behind me) and then tried to pick up my Yorkshire pudding with the knife that he had been carving the meat with! Luckily, I managed to stop him in time but he couldn't understand what he had done wrong! Nevertheless, I tried my burger.
The spongy, tasteless mass on my plate had clearly been microwaved for too long. I called over a waitress (who was both lovely and also a vegetarian) and explained the situation. Horrified, she took the plate away and sent the manager over.
The manager listened as I explained the issues; that I was not paying for the tripe that I had been served and that I considered myself as very easy going but that the restaurant's attitude to vegetarians was stuck in the 80s. She nodded but was completely uncaring- merely saying that she would "have a word with the chef".
On our way out, the restaurant tried to make my Husband pay for my meal, which refused to do.
First time visiting we had the Father’s Day carvery which was really good value and plenty to choose from staff were very good st their jobs very good st clearing tables etc would definitely go again but please look at the bar prices a glass of coke £3.75 I know it was a large one but a bit steep but that was my only gripe
Only gripe was we had to keep asking for plates on starters and deserts counters then the staff appeared with only a few plates and dishes.
Lovely food, great service- friendly hard working staff and great value for money
Visited here for Father’s Day unlimited carvery,I’ve been before and it was really nice but this time it was very poor.
Long queues for the carvery, only 1x person serving.Gravy was watery and meal was quite tasteless-definitely not worth the £16 per person. They also weren’t doing the unlimited ice cream sundae,I’d got children with me and they were really looking forward to that. When it came to paying I had to ask for the £10 vouchers that I knew were included, they weren’t passed to us!!
Not impressed and won’t be returning.
Lady who served us really didn’t know her beers , wasn’t explained about Sunday 4 corse so had to ask myself , I had to asked about deserts ,felt service was a little sloppy and because we were a table of 2 was forgotten really ,as this was for a special occasion was a little disappointing.
Lovely meal and well worth the money. I have to follow a gluten free diet and the chef made me starters I could eat and they had gluten free rolls. Lots of choice for each course and carvery was beautiful. Lovely friendly staff and not too busy so at 1.30pm on a Sunday. Real value for money. I will definitely be visiting again soon.
Booked Sunday lunch on line for 2 at 12-30 when we arrived we were told that we hadn’t got a table because their internet was not working, they did give us a table but when we got home we had an email saying that you was sorry we hadn’t made lunch, not very happy with that .
Really friendly staff, and lovely fresh food. Went for my moms birthday and had a fantastic time. Restaurant set out so doesn't feel crowded.
Food was good could have been hotter .desert was a little tasteless i had cheese cake .very noisy.
Had a fabulous Sunday lunch, I have a fussy 4 year old who ate well. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious!
Highly recommend, it was the best sunday lunch we have eaten out in a long time!
We go quite regularly but on this occasion the service was terrible and the food was no the best. There were no desserts and had to keep finding someone if we wanted anything. There was no service at all from staff. Not impressed this time
Beautifull restaurant the Sunday carvery menu was incredible and value for money, it just seems the later you go the less options you have but the quality of the food that is there is brilliant, the choice of hot and cold starters are outstanding
First time but will certainly not be the last. Booked for a Sunday lunch for a group of 3 at 12.30. Staff were welcoming, very pleasant and polite. The food was of a good choice and plentiful. My only complaint would be if the plates for the carvery were a little warmer. I am glad that we chose an early time because it did start to fill up quite quickly but for what you get for the price you pay it is hardly surprising. Looking forward to my next visit.
Terrible, over priced, badly cooked food! Would not recommend or return. Excellent waitress was the only positive throughout the worst dining experience we have ever had... she was VERY professional
Been on a number of occasions for Sunday lunch.
Each time never been disappointed.
A lovely meal with the family, plenty of food.. sometimes a wait for top ups of foods (mainly gravy’s and condiments) but apart from this no issue. Would definitely return
The Sunday lunch organisation has changed for the better since our last visit. The Carvery and starters bar stand on their own with the gravy and soup area at the side. The sweets area is separate or you can order to your table. The seating is comfortable and the Staff were very welcoming. They also looked after a diner very well who was taken ill at the table, even showing concern for fellow diners. An ambulance arrived very quickly. The only downside we saw was that some families allowed children to run around shouting etc. but we appreciate the Restaurant is limited in its ability to handle this scenario as todays parents seem oblivious to the nuisance their children are causing. People are walking about with hot meals which could cause problems. Overall a very good experience and one which we will be repeating. The staff made our day with their excellent service.
Staff was very helpful, the food was amazing a lot of choice value for money , spacious , clean ..
Definitely be booking again
Not had a meal here for a long time but definitely was not disappointed. Food delicious and hot. Lots of choice and catered for myself who has coeliac disease. Would most definitely recommend and will not be too long before I go again. Well worth the money. Only slight niggle would be the price of the drinks but it is a hotel so tend to expect it.
Food and service excellent. Great value for the money. Would recommend to family and friends.
We ate there as part of a deal when staying in the hotel. Amazing value and great meal.
I have been several times for Sunday lunch but this week we went at half four and there was not enough choice of starters carvers and puddings
Food was not great, not at the same standard as the Solihull Village Grill. Chicken was served as useasoned breasts, vegetables were all dried out, stuffing was rock solid and we were asked to wait 15 minutes for a table that was pre-booked.
Okay but wouldn't be in a rush to return.
Sunday roast beef was very tough and we left our meat because we could not cut it or chew it.
We had no table service we had starters of soup that were brought to us but after that no one came to us again we are main and desert with all the dirty plated from previous course still on the table and it being a table for 2 we had no room to eat we aakws for drinks but no I.e came to us so we had to leave our good and go to bar ourselves on experience of this visit we would not eat Sunday lunch here again
We really enjoyed Sunday lunch - in particular, the ice cream desert was wonderful. Mention must be made of the exceptional service - our waitress was charming and cheerful.
1st time here had sunday lunch was extremely impressed with the food and the variety of starters and deserts. Staff lovely and welcoming and the carvery was one of the best ive had in a long time. Well done
Superb service and food
Great venue, excellent food. Service needs a little more attention but overall very good.
I was overall pleased... Starters were not to my liking but the soup was nice shame it was only brown cobs though. Otherwise can not fault anything
Good friendly service, food very tasty. Servers polite and efficient, would highly reccomend.
