We enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the restaurant which was cooked to perfection and served very efficiently by the waiting staff.
Breakfast however was not so enjoyable. There was very limited hot food choices, with undercooked sausages, burnt mushrooms and no hash browns/fried bread or black pudding. The only fresh fruit on offer was melon and there were no pastries. Not what I would expect from such a high level of restaurant.
Food top notch,
The starters were lovely, the carvery was poor. Dried up veg, partially cooked roast potatoes, but the meat was nice.
The service was amazing, especially the Male chef.
There was no gluten free gravy for my 7 year old son despite me going in previously and staff documenting that he required gluten free on the booking. Staff expected him to eat a dry roast dinner. It was only the good fortune that someone else who was having dinner there had bought their own gluten free gravy granules that the staff kindly made up. I had already bought our own sausages and Yorkshire for him. The rest of the meal was very good but I think it’s not acceptable to just expect him to go without when I had previously been told the gravy was gluten free
Staff very friendly and helpful, food was ok, the seats in dining room were not very comfortable to sit on.
The decor also needs improving.
I got home an was shocked to find I was charged for three adults as it was me taken my two children for fathers dsy very disappointing my daughter is nine years old and my son is 14 didn’t realise till I got home so wasn’t happy
Every single member of staff were amazing! Extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I can’t remember the last time we had such an excellent level of service when dining out. No complaints whatsoever, the food was also delicious and much better than any of the other Village grills we've Eaten in. My partner said it was the best burger he’s ever had!! My children also ordered extra as the food was so tasty and they’d eaten every morsel. We will definitely eat here again when we’re visiting Liverpool.
The food was amazing and staff very friendly and helpful. One particular member of staff really accommodated us as she knew we were on our mini moon after getting married the weekend before.
Very friendly staff, food was good, service a little slow
Where do I begin ! There was 2 guests and ourselves in restaurant!
1 had to ask twice for glasses for water
2 dirty napkin had to ask twice again and she brought two in case I needed another!
3 finished meal plates left on table until I went to reception to ask if there was anyone still working?
4. Eventually ordered dessert waited 15 mins and a young waiter strolled up to table and said is this yours ? I responded by saying yes but it had cream instead of ice cream so he reluctantly took it back and eventually strolled back by this time I was non to happy as it was 9pm we sat down at 7.15
I took my dessert to my room and told the waitress who was messing around in the back that her service was atrocious?
We have been and stayed at many village hotels and never had such poor service
We have stay in several different village hotels and the food at this one was by far the best. Arrived at the table extremely hot and cooked perfectly
Can’t wait to go back the food was gorgeous
Chefs very friendly
Great value for money
Drinks very reasonable
Very over priced and my main course which was the village burger was completely over cooked and couldn’t eat most of it , very dry . The only decent thing that we had from the menu was the pineapple crumple which was lovely .
very nice place. staff were very friendly with us and our children. lovely warm atmosphere in there.
First time for Sunday lunch . Will be going again real value for money and would highly recommend. The staff were more than helpful and took the time to speak to you not just serve drinks and run like most places. Well done village hotel
There was a hotel/ meal deal..a 2 course set menu meal with over night stay and unlimited breakfast for 2 , £95 ..meal was really nice and would go back without the deal...
We were on a set menu, the food was lovely and the staff service was spot on !!
Excellent staff, enjoyed the atmosphere, food was very good and plentiful and lots of choices , restaurant area very clean with great decor.
I last visited the restaurant some 6 yrs ago. I couldn’t fault it. I had the fillet steak then and had it again this time. The first time is was beautiful. This time it was mediocre. The ambiance and restaurant last time was brilliant. This time it was actually embarrassing as I took my son and his new girlfriend for a ‘classy ‘ meal but that’s not what we got. The restaurant felt scruffy and bare and in serious need of an overhaul. It felt like a dingy pub in a poor area. I had soup to start which was barely warm. I also had a tastecard which clearly states the restaurant was available for the tastecard offer but I was told I couldn’t use it even though it was clearly available on the tastecard site. I wasn’t happy with any of it if I’m being totally honest. We should have just stayed in and ordered fish and chips. Sorry !!! I won’t be visiting again and I won’t be recommending either.
Food was great and plenty of choice. Toilets not great could be better no roll and cold in there
Staff were lovely, very accommodating. Food was lovely, tasty and hot!
The hotel is quite run down and need some attention. The hotel room was basic and in need of decorating. The staff were all very polite. The meal was ok although we were put in a cold conservatory that also need updating. It was a set menu however not all the options were available.
In the evening we went to bed about 10am and the music underneath went on until at least 1am. It was so loud that we couldn't hear our television or get to sleep. We complained a couple of time and all the staff said was it will go off in a bit!
Booked Sunday roast through the internet, but it had finished when we got to restaurant. So had to order food from the limited menu. We all had the burger, which okay but very expensive for what we got. We asked if we could have the Valentines meal instead but we were told that, had also finished but 3 other couples came in after us and they had the meal.
A warm welcome awaited us, staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough. We booked the Sunday lunch. Spoilt for choice with food. Starters were vegetable soup, selection of meats, cheese, pâté pork pie, prawn cocktail, salads, salmon and mackerel. Carvery was superb, apart from one thing let it down for me and that was the gravy, it tasted like it had been made from a tomato soup packet mix and it was orange in colour. Deserts were amazing though and so much choice, white chocolate and raspberry mouse, chocolate fudge cake, lemon meringue pie, lemon cheesecake, the list went on. Service was first class. Restaurant was in need of a refurbish compared to other Village Hotels we've stayed in, had a bit of a cafe atmosphere. Overall great value for money.
We had fantastic meal served by lovely friendly, and very obliging staff.......BUT.... in a dirty, shabby 'canteen' like venue. Dusty shelves, chipped paintwork. The place needs investment for a full refurbishment.
Service poor and food was too. We travelled there especially to try the carvery. We left before we ate.
Unfortunately Sunday carvery was warm going on cold been out probably so long it was 2.30 pm and very quiet the Turkey was eatable and the beef but otherwise left everything else even the Gravy was Cold !!!!!!! Desert of apple crumble was just a wet mess 😏 Staff are very Friendly and courteous 👍🏼
We went for Sunday lunch the food was awful , service good
Spent a fortune but got charged for my daughter having a small vegetarian plate
Won't go back
The Sunday special is great value and as we just entered December the hotel was lovely and festive. Friendly staff and great facilities. We will be back. Thanks
The choice of food was exceptional and sensational.
The only reason I gave a very good rating for overall and not outstanding is we waited for some time to be seated. After several mins, we had to go and find a staff member.
The service from then on was excellent. We were served quickly and the staff were very friendly.
The food was excellent and fantastic value for money. We stayed overnight in the hotel which we have done previously and hope to do again.
Went for Sunday lunch
Great food great staff, good value for money
very friendly nothing too much trouble I would deffently recommend the village Liverpool to a friend
The best meal was the starters. My friend had a burger which was good. Salmon and chicken skewers where poor. Bought a bottle of white wine. This was just put on my table. It was warm however this was in an ice bucket and the waiter didn't allow me to taste before leaving.
We were never checked to see if the meal was OK.
We had a meal deal for £18 for 2 courses. Didn't think it was worth the money. The overall experience was not good. This did not feel like a restaurant the area felt like a cafe.
We booked this meal for a friends birthday. I felt it was very over priced for the service and the standard of food we were given.
I found the restaurant bare not very welcoming and expensive.
Would have been great value for money if the roast dinner, whole reason we went, hadn’t been sitting there for hours. Paid the same as others who got it fresh and the potatoes and veg were inedible, absolutely bone dry. Starters were great however.
I went for the £13.95 Sunday Carvery and it was delicious. A variety of meat options (Beef, Turkey and Gammon), a good range of sides and veg (and plenty of it too), and desserts were also included in the price. The layout was nice and easy to use with starters on one side, desserts on the other and the Carvery in the middle. Hot desserts were also offered to us (Sticky Toffe Pudding and Apple Crumble both with custard) with cold desserts like cheesecake layed out on the table. There was also soup of the day (mine was vegetable) with bread and butter as an option too which was a nice touch. The staff were lovely and polite, they quickly got us seated and attended to us when needed. They were quick to take our orders and to clean up dirty plates, and made the experience 100 times better. Overall I would definitely reccomnend The Village Pub for Sunday lunch/ Carvery.
Nice carvery, good choice of meat. Plenty of vegetables to choose from. Great choice of starters and desserts. Staff very attentive. Nothing too much trouble. Good value for the money.
Food was overly expensive and tasted awlful the vegetables were beyond fresh the supposedly greens were yellow, we were advised that it was because it was over steamed! After having shared 4 starters 1 main and 2 children’s meals it came to a bill of £81 McDonald’s would have tasted better!
