Food really nice but expensive for a restaurant in Hyde. The restaurant was completely empty and staff were setting up for breakfast as we left at 8.30pm. Staff really helpful and friendly...maybe the hotel needs to look at reducing prices or offering some deals for quieter times
Great menu choices. Food arrived well presented and was very tasty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Couldn’t have asked for better!
Didn’t enjoy at all. Not a great choice of starters. And wasn’t topped up enough. The meats were dry and the stuffing balls were rock solid. Roast Potatoes over cooked and mash really dried out. Deserts had been sat there a while and were warm (Eton mess and Lemon posset ).
Amazing stay fantasic food and enviroment lovely staff thank you
We really enjoyed our meal and will be back all carvery team excellent and worked very hard to keep us happy
Staff really helpful and very friendly, food was good and arrived very quickly
Hi, the carvery was available 1/3 and 5pm.
We went on the 5 pm. It wasn't busy but being the last sitting choices were limited.
Only one meat, no fruit left for dessert. The food was lovely. We didn't divide to have the soup. There was no cheese and crackers. We had to ask for coffee and only 4 customers left in. We were told is was closed for normal meals by 7pm.
No customers arrived it was empty.
It's great value as I get my membership.
The furnishings make it more inviting but no atmosphere very dul and staff seem rushed.
We had another lovely Sunday Lunch. Lots to choose from and great, friendly staff.
Lovely Sunday dinner, will definitely go back again
Overall a great night, the fillet steak was very good, great thick cut chips, if anything let it down it was the garlic prawns for an extra £6.00, I got 6 prawns.
The wine was nice, just a little overpriced at £22.00
The saving grace was the service, couldn’t fault it, very friendly and knowledgable.
Food wasn’t good service was a effort , the place is cold - I won’t return
Excellent staff! Food was lovely and plentiful. Kids are free deal was the reason we chose to eat here that day
There is no atmosphere in this restaurant at all, the food was lovely but a bit over priced, I asked for a spirit drink and was given in in a large coke glass, the restaurant was less than half full and the staff seemed to be very flustered, there was a large party of people on one table which was very noisy with children running around the tables. Unless they greatly improve this restaurant we would not return
Very nice restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Service was well paced so no waiting long between courses. Restaurant was a little cold so we had after dinner drinks in the pub area.
Nice pre Xmas inclusive stay and mail in friendly atmosphere
Pleasantly surprised by the vast improvement to the quality of the food recently. The staff have always been friendly and attentive; plus now have pride in the quality of the product. Our last visit was with friends for the excellent value Sunday carvery lunch. The mushroom soup was superb, all meats cooked to perfection with my wife saying it was the best and most succulent turkey she had ever tasted. The vegetables were cooked just right (but the cabbage needed work) and the roast potatoes and parsnips were irresistible. Aided by the excellent "The Bulletin" Rose our wives were very happy and we could enjoy a relaxed beer whilst gaining brownie (which were also great) points. We left complementing ourselves on the choice of venue and agreeing to return soon.
Took my soon and granddaughter there were no mash roast or gravy and yourkshire puddings had to wait at one point no sweets at all five people waiting at one point with half plates
Booked for 6 family members. Asked for a table close to food and we had one. Starters were quite good with choice and soup was good. Carvery was OK. Very fatty gammon, beef was medium and turkey was good. Yorkshire puddings were too big and very dry like sandpaper. Sprouts were shown hot water and not cooked at all, carrots OK, roast potatoes needed more cooking, rest of the veg was OK. Puddings - very little choice but what was there were nice. The drinks were very expensive, bottle of white wine, and 2 cokes over £30.
I have other issues regarding the place in general .
Based on the food I would recommend the Unlimited carvery on a Sunday but again felt the service was sadly lacking. I had to ask what hot desserts were available, go to the bar for more drinks and waited quite some time for the table to be cleared. At no point were qe asked if there was anything we needed. There was a large party in at the same time and possibly not enough staff to cope. I do think if you have large parties in you should seat other smaller groups away as you had every visitor seated in a very small space.
Good quality meal with plenty of choice. Meats cooked perfectly.
Lovely meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary - we got married at The Village Hyde - service was impeccable then and it is now. I would recommend the venue for weddings and the restaurant to celebrate special occasions. Food was lovely, staff were so efficient and helpful.
Poor overall.... Service was non existent, Food was cold, Gravy was like glue. Starter was the best but the lettuce was brown.
Came with my son for sunday carvery.
There wasnt ,much choice and the area the food was placed was small and not enough room for all diners to collect their food.
No bread rolls so slices of bread was put out instead.
only 1 choice of dessert and the meats for the main course werent put out at the same time meaning if you wanted the main when it was first put out you missed out on the other meats.
I usually go to the Ashton one and wont be returning to the hyde one
Disappointed! Celebrating my birthday with family. Ran out of sauce, failed to replenish gravy and roasts. Although the cost of the food was knocked off bill - was still disappointed that no effort to apologise was made by management
Everything was spot on and would have received top marks if it was not for my friends pudding.
_IT WAS NOT EDIBLE....... DO NOT HAVE APPLE CRUMBLE ... we waited 20 mins for this. My friends favourite pudd.
The crumble was wet so it resembled soggy pastry, then parts of it was very hard like cardboard and it had large apple pips in it.
My friend is 73 and could have easily choked as would a child easily too. Some chunks of apple had the peel still on it and was hard.
So basically this pudd ruined the whole afternoon as I felt bad as it was my treat for him.
I told him not to eat it and I would ask for a different sweet for him, but he did not want a fuss.
Admittedly I would have felt better if he had. Never mind!
The staff were lovely, the waitress/receptionist was very kind and let us choose where we wanted to sit although we had booked. He is a wheelchair user. Quite often they want to tuck you out of the way. I should have told her about the pudd but it would have put an even more dampener on it maybe. I would go again, but keep off the apple crumble.
If you are a village member you do not get discount off for your drinks, as I am.
I had to pay £4.60 for 2 cups of tea.
Hyde village is miles better for its customer service then it's sister hotel Ashton..nothing is too much of an effort for the staff ...well done Hyde! ...you could do with sharing Ashton a few tips in attentiveness and customer care, they are shocking .
I booked the unlimited carvery for fathers day. After looking forward to this for weeks we were sadly disappointed. Our table was booked for 5pm. We arrived to be told there was no mash potato. That's was ok we could deal with that. We went up to get our starter and was shocked to find no plates, no soup, no bowls and hardly any food. We had to wait and ask for the soup yo be filled and bowls. Next the carvery. The poor man was rushed off his feet. Again there was no food we had to wait 10 minutes for the man to come back out of the kitchen. We spoke to the manager who apologised and stated they had ran out of food and didn't anticipate for people to eat as much as they did. It spoilt the day. We left and had to take my 3 year old son to McDonald's. Wouldn't recommend or return.
I have dined having cavery before on a couple of occasions. Never had a problem.
But sunday was fathers day and a special occasion.
I was disappointed with food. Not much soup and it was cold.
For cavery no Gammon, no mash and was waiting for roast potatoes. So after 5 mins left it as food on our plates was getting cold.
Dersert apple crubmle again this was just warm.
The staff were very helpful and apologetic for problems.
So as a good will gesture deducted 2 carverys from the bill.
Just left dissapointed as this was my treat for my dad.. and it spoilt the day a little.
Service was excellent. Just a shame on food.
We went for a Father’s Day lunch which was good though we were told shortly after ordering dessert that they would require the table back soon as we had had it for slightly more than an hour. At no time when making the reservation or upon arrival were we advised this. That was the only slight on an otherwise great lunch
Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere the food was lovely would recommend the skewers. Service was excellent. Good venue for a catch up with friends.
We arrived to find the restaurant closed..went to the bar where the balcony dining room was closed..bank holiday Monday closed because it wasn’t busy. Reception....”oh dear no we are closed your booking should not have been taken. Will report to Dining room manager who should contact you....Oh and there is no other places to go round here, Ashton village will be closed also”
No one offered to ring Ashton to check, no one was very sorry, no one offered a drink in the bar. In fact no one gave a bother that we had booked our wedding anniversary meal, and had to just go home....
Extremely upset would be putting it mildly. We were livid.
Will certainly NOT be recommending your dining experience to anyone
We have had no contact from the “Dining room manager” by way of an apology.
We had the set menu, the portions were huge, delicious, imaginatively presented and great value for money. The sweet potato and chilli soup, houmous trio and the sweet potato and Spinich curry were to die for, as were the chunky chips......we were too full for dessert which was a shame because they sounded delicious too.
All the staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble, very friendly and polite.
All in all a really good place to go for a delicious good value meal.
Lovely Sunday lunch - Home made soup was a real hit as was the apple crumble
Very tasty food and very good quality. Service was good and prompt.
Frozen sprouts really can not abide frozen veg that was my only negative staff and service were excellent could not fault the choice of starters and desserts it was just the veg
Meal great staff even better really enjoyed it . Hope to go back soon
pleasant surroundings, excellent service -
however, would prefer a wider choice for "gluten free" / e.g. corn bread perhaps, and other wheat alternatives for dessert or a fruit salad alternative. jl
good food, friendly service. the buffet area was a bit congested, but still worth a visit.
Overall the food was ok, but at £16 p/h i’d have hoped for slightly better
Good selection of food and price, perhaps too much if you are a greedy pig like me!!
